||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.As a graphic designer, when my previous laptop was too old and slow to handle Photoshop design software I looked online for reviews of laptops in my price range that could handle my work requirements. For under 1k I am very happy with my Dell, it performs well and much better than my last laptop. I do miss having a CD rom drive in that I had some odd old software (Manga studio) that I had on disk but luckily I had an external CD drive that worked well with the USB ports and allowed me to do an install. Most programs I have will be installed via the internet, and so far my connectivity has been great, so no problems. The screen has a touch of glare, but the glass screen is better for color. Love the illuminated keyboard. So far everything works well (I use a Wacom tablet, so not using the touchscreen very often) and very happy with my purchase.

I'm a big fan of Dell PCs and this laptop is great

I wanted the most advanced processor available, along with the most memory (12GB) and storage (2 TB). The onboard WIFI works seamlessly and there are plenty of USB ports available for a wide variety of accessories.

I am getting used to a smaller laptop but miss the accounting keys and a port to hard wire into my modem when WiFi is troublesome. All in all a good laptop.

Great storage but average performance

The touch screen has stopped working properly several times. I actually exchanged the laptop the first time because of this problem but the second one has done it as well. I have to close the screen and open again to use touchscreen. It is also quite slow at times and I haven't been doing very heavy work as well - just working with pictures.

If you'd like to calibrate your touchscreen you can follow these steps: If you are having issues with your Touchscreen, this may include being unable to access items to the edge of the screen for example your screen may require re-calibration.
Below are the steps required to calibrate your Touchscreen.
1. Restart the Computer and the Monitor
2. Recalibrate the touch-screen. Steps to calibrate touch-screen:
3. Go to Control Panel and select Tablet PC Settings.
4. Under Display tab, select Calibrate....
5. Choose Pen or Touch input.
6. Perform the point calibration that appears on the screen to correct the linearity problems.
7. Save the calibrated data.

Posted .We're glad the display and memory are working. However, we're sorry that the speed isn't meeting your expectations, New2Cali. Please take follow these troubleshooting steps: Delete temporary files and directories 1. Click Start, then in the search bar type "disk". Disk Cleanup should appear on the menu above the search box. 2. Run disk cleanup and eliminate unneeded temporary files (Search results, Internet Cache and other windows temp files you may no longer need) 3. Select files you want to delete then click OK to start the cleanup process. Uninstall applications you no longer use 1) Open the Programs and Features application in Control Panel. 2) Scan the list of applications installed for ones that you no longer use. 3) Highlight any application you no longer use and then click the uninstall button at the top of the list. Follow the prompts to uninstall. 4. Repeat for each application you want to uninstall. 5. Move large files and/or seldom used files to backup media (Photos, Music you seldom listen to, application downloads after the application has been installed etc.). 6. Empty the Recycle Bin. Great value laptop but really needs SSD storage

However the 5400rpm harddrive slows everything down (my tablet has an SSD) and laptop is heavier than I thought it would be. Looking forward to adding an SSD and moving the operating system and programs to run from it.

It's very good for drawing as it's screen works with pens. Overall a good laptop but I'd say buy it when there is a sale as it's a bit pricey.
