My Toshiba was great but since I couldn't get a new one, I looked at all the other laptops and chose this Dell with the help of Eric, Howard and Kyle. I got it with 0% interest for a year which made it so easy and I really like the weight and the look and the way it works. Thanks Best Buy - I've been a customer a long time.

I really wanted to like this laptop. After getting a new MacBook Pro this summer there were things that irked me and I wanted to give Windows 10 a try. Problem is, this didn’t work from the start. After getting through the initial setup - I kept running into a blue screen error that Windows was improperly installed and nothing I tried to troubleshoot could help. I did a system reset and returned for a second, hoping something was wrong with just that machine. Except I ran into the same problem immediately on the next one. After reaching out to Dell and getting really no support or answers from them I just returned it. Bottom line, the specs, the design and the price are incredible on this...but until Dell can figure out why it crashes constantly right out the gate, skip it. It’s likely to be recalled down the line anyway.

Good computer, but limited number/types of ports

This is a good computer. It is plenty fast once you have gone through the setup process and allowed sufficient time for all updates to install. Not sure why the one reviewer dogged it so bad. My only complaint is that for a 17.3 inch laptop, it would expect it to have more ports, and given the limited number it has, the two non-Type C ports should both be USB 3.1 ports, instead of one 3.1 and one 2.0. I suppose this was done because I have read that some wireless devices run better off a USB 2.0 port. Other than that, I think it is great computer. The graphics are good and the NVidia MX150 is a good graphics driver. Also, 2 TB of storage is a real plus. This is being used as a desktop replacement and the 2-in-1 design allows it to lay flat in a keyboard drawer with a full size keyboard. The inclusion of the USB 2.0 port made me tempted to give it 4 stars, but on balance, including the price (it was actually $150 cheaper in the store than online), screen graphics, the fact that I wanted a 17.3 inch 2-in-1, the I7 8th Gen Processor, and the size of the HD, I gave it 5 Stars.

Okay let me start by saying this is my 4th Dell Laptop and I have been a Dell Laptop customer since 2007 out of the 4 that I have purchased the best one was the one they stopped making which was the Dell Studio Laptop that I purchased in 2009 that one I would've given an AAA+ and I had it up until 2015 (yes that's how good it was ) the last Inspiron I had would've have gotten a solid D- it was flimsy and although I purchased it in 2015 it gave out on me 3 years later. So now in spite of that I still decided to purchase this one and right now I would have to give it at this point (45 days in) a B-, it's fast, lightweight and seems to be solid (unlike my last one where the plastic components broke off into the fan's housing) I like the touch screen but I hardly ever use it, it's great for browsing the internet and has a very comfortable keyboard and 10 keypad and although it's not a gaming computer the graphics card is pretty good for games like the Sims 3 and 4, however this is where the flaws come in and why at this point I have to give it a B- DO NOT BUY THIS LAPTOP FOR GAMING ONLY PURPOSES because it kills the battery and overheats tremendously matter of fact the battery life sucks period in comparison with my Dell Studio that I gave the triple A+ rating I literally had the same battery for 4 years before it ever gave me the type of battery life that this Dell is giving me brand new straight out of the box is maybe an hour and a half tops, I also had my Studio Laptop for 5 years before it started getting as hot as this one does, DELL YOU CAN DO BETTER THAN THIS I HAVE SEEN YOUR BEST AND THIS ISN'T IT. But for right now it is good I would still recommend it as far as how it's made and comfort but I will say a this a 17 inch laptop doesn't need to be a 2 in 1 if anyone uses it as a 2 in 1 it's only because they don't have a larger monitor to give a presentation on it doesn't even flip that comfortably for me to even consider using it as a 2 in 1 so again it's a good laptop better than the last one I had but not as great a job as I know Dell could do but it is better than some other ones and it gets the job done.

I wanted it to work but Updates keep crashing it

I shopped around before purchasing this laptop. It was time to replace both my laptop (Sony VAIO) and PC (Gateway) that were > 7 years old and have been slowed down by upgrading to Windows 10 and all the updates. The oversized display, 16GB of RAM and 2 TB of storage fit the bill to replace 2 aging technology with 1 new device, plus, with the touch screen and ability to convert to a tablet, i was sold right away. When I was browsing through the Best Buy website and added this laptop to my cart, it offered me other things that might go well with the laptop. The Bamboo Ink was one of the items and i was even more excited. The lack of a CD/DVD player was easily resolved by buying an LG BluRay/DVD Writer. So this all sounds like it's a match made in heaven, so why only 2 stars? Well first, when i went to the store to buy it, i was giving the salesman the accessories i wanted to get, and made sure to ask him they were all compatible and he said they were. When i stared to configure the Bamboo Ink, it detected the pen but I'm not able to "write" with it. I went back to the store to see if I was doing something wrong and a sales person was trying to trouble shoot it with me. After about 30 minutes, he then found out that Bamboo Ink is not supported on this device. I returned the Bamboo Ink. I truly loved using the laptop. It was my BFF for 3 weeks. Then, i got a Windows update. The laptop started to run slow and hung sometimes. I then poked around and even with no applications running, and no updates running, my disk usage was at 100%. I started chatting with Dell Support and spent a total of 6 hours for 3 consecutive days with the tech controlling my laptop and disabling applications, running chkdisk, dism.exe and nothing worked. This put me on Day 30 and the tech suggested i return the laptop and get a brand new one and to install all the updates before installing anything or even using it. So, back to Best Buy I go and it was actually the best exchange experience. I was in and out of there in less than 15 minutes. AND, the laptop was $100 cheaper! Woohoo! I got home around 8PM, fired up the laptop and Dell and Windows updates started running. I left a Windows update running that was at 8% around midnight. When i checked the next evening, as soon as i logged in, I got a popup with an Application Error (unknown software exception). Disk usage was at 100%. Great....So i chatted with Dell Support and he took control of the laptop. So he found that the Intel SGX Application Enclave had a critical error. After he cleared that, he stayed on until all the Windows updates have completed and after 3 hours, my brand new laptop is operational and disk usage is in the 1-digit range. The next day, when I turned the laptop on, i was welcomed with a blue screen with a big, bold "Recovery" title. "It looks like Windows didn't load correctly". When i clicked "See advanced repair options", it was followed by another blue screen with :( "Your PC ran into a problem and needs to restart. We're just collecting some error info, and then restart for you." After the restart, every time i tried to open an application, i got a popup and the main message is that "This operation returned because the timeout period expired". I'm a very patient person, but I've had it. I don't think this is something a user should be experiencing with a brand new, out of the box laptop. So, back to shopping around for a new laptop. The HP envy only goes to 15.6 in display for their convertible, and it only had 1 TB of storage, but it's ok, i have plenty of external hard drive. So ladies and gentlemen, i am writing this review on my brand new HP Envy that did update all night long, but so far, no errors and everything is hunky-dory, and I am not getting any power supply errors like in other reviews.

Excellent computer, except I feel slightly misled

I have just purchased this computer in the past week. I actually love practically everything about it. It is an exemplary system in virtually every way. It is powerful enough thanks to its excellent latest-generation processor, it has dedicated graphics which I find goes a LONG way toward making video and photo editing incredibly smooth, and thus even allows me to run even newer games on medium-high settings. I truly have no complaints about the system itself, other than the fact that when I purchased it, I did so under the impression that it supported an active stylus. In fact, in the ad the week it was featured, it said "Built For Windows Ink" on it, and the salesman even told me it was compatible with active stylus pens. Well, as it turns out, this particular model is NOT compatible with any active stylus pens, even though it clearly says so even on this web site under the system's specifications and displays a Windows Ink logo right on top of the product features. As it turns out, I would likely have not used this feature greatly but I nevertheless feel like it is somewhat troubling that there is misinformation out there about this model and was looking forward to experimenting with it in different applications. That said, I find it hard to fault this excellent computer overall, and that's why I've still decided to give it five stars in my review. I highly recommend this PC to anyone looking to have a good system for video and photo editing with the capability to use it in a desktop fashion or on the go, if need be. Great job, Dell!

I love this laptop. It's a huge screen with great graphics which is super good for photo editing and video editing. Those are my main uses for it but it's also really fast for web surfing or any other general uses. The only downside is the battery life. It definitely could be a little better but it holds a charge for about 3 1/2 to 4 hours before you have to plug it in. The good definitely out weighs the bad so if you're on the fence, I say go for it.

This was an open box purchase, so I got a really good price, and have been very happy with it. Love the large screen. Sharp. Fast. Lightweight. Never use the "2-in-1" configuration. I thought I would, but it's a bit awkward for me. Never use the touch screen. I thought I would like the touch screen, but I'm too used to a mouse.

This computer is an all around great choice for anyone looking for speed, graphics, and multitasking at a reasonable price. It has enough power to run virtual machines smoothly. The MX150 graphics card is more than enough considering it already has a powerful CPU. Note: this laptop is not for gamers, so keep that in mind if you want to do serious gaming. There are other Dell laptops for that. The only downside is the lack of an SSD, but SSDs are now affordable and you can get one yourself. I was a little concerned with the 5400 RPM hard drive, but I have had no speed or lag issues yet, and a few extra seconds of startup time is not a deal breaker for me. If it is for you, put an SSD in it. Would definitely recommend to a friend.

The screen is sharp. The speed is fine. No problems setting it up or using it. Fast and dependable. Would have liked to have had the SSD memory, even though it is smaller. It is nearly ten times the memory that I needed for my last computer. The two TB of memory that came with this new computer is more than I could ever use.

Very happy with my new laptop. I like the bigger screen and the number key pad is a must. This laptop is very light weight and slim. It is much faster than my old one and has a large memory capacity. The look is different than my previous one, but I am still able to maneuver around just fine.
