I hulk-smashed my old laptop out of frustration, running so slowly. I just wanted a replacement that runs relatively quickly and to use to peruse the internet. I found this great computer with an i7 processor at a great price. I like that it has a dvd drive and a nice big screen. The only thing I don't like about it is that the num-lock turns itself off randomly. Very inconvenient when using the number keys for your passwords. I found it very easy to replace the hdd with an ssd and now it boots up ridiculously fast. The 6 gigs of RAM is plenty for my uses, but is easily upgradable.

I couldn't ask for a better laptop for the price with an i7, 6gb of memory, a battery that generally lasts about 8 hours. It is very light as well.

I purchased this computer for my daughter, as she needed a new laptop for college. She absolutely loves it!
It is easy to set up, super fast, easy to use, and has everything a college kid could want. It is a big laptop, at 15.6, but is very light and thin.
The HD display is nice for watching movies, and viewing photos, and with 1TB hard drive, she has plenty of space to keep all her school work and photos.
This is a great value for the money, and I would recommend to anyone who is looking for an all around great laptop.

The Dell Inspiron 5000 laptop is a great mid-range laptop for the money. Good performance with an i-7 processor, 1Tb hard drive and 6Gb memory. There are some improvements that would make this a great laptop, such as the inclusion of discreet graphics, and an increase to 8Gb RAM. That being said, this laptop offers exceptional performance for the normal user...

Price was good at 549.00 and even better when I got 70.00 back with the price match to Bestbuy website 10 days after the purchase.
Static pad is bit slow in response sometimes and not as smooth as other brands but still better than some low end brands.

I had been searching for a new computer for my son to use for college. After a few weeks of looking for a good deal on a great computer, I found this one. I've always liked Dell because they are reliable and usually don't come with tons of extra stuff you don't want preloaded. Setup was very easy and took maybe 20 minutes. This computer is fast and has plenty memory and a huge 1 TB hard drive. It has ac Wi-Fi capability which makes it really fast on the Internet if you have a compatable ac router. The screen looks great and every computer should have a keyboard like this one. It's very easy to type on. It's hard to find a computer with a CD/DVD drive on it. This computer has one. The sound is very good and easy to hear. It's a little thinner than my sons old laptop, so it's a little less bulky. I ordered it online and it showed up 2 days later. Shipping was free and it seemed packed well in the bigger box it arrived in. It was on sale for $549. I went to order it and I got an extra $100 off, so I only paid $449. I wish I had ordered two of them now. This is a very nice computer even at the regular sale price. Been using for about a month. Working great so far.

I have been a basic HP owner for 30 years. This is first Dell. The specs was the best bang for the buck. Runs great. Just wish it had a power on light and gigabit wifi. I knew going in but I miss these features. Buying through Best Buy is always a great experience. Especially the Geek Warranty.

I purchased this computer during the Black Friday sale in July. It was exactly what my college-bound teenager needed and what the school's specs wanted and then some. The display is vibrant the sound is decent and the price cannot be beat for the features it has, especially the DVD drive which was required for some of her classes. Other computers were at least $100 or more with less features.

we've never had a dell computer so it took a little getting used to, add to that adjusting to windows 10 after the download... everything that sucks data was on as the default so be sure to check that out, other than that it seems like a fast and so far reliable computer.

I purchased this Dell 5558 Inspiron 5000 series laptop because I wanted the newest technology with a large hard drive and capability to add RAM. The system came with 6gb upgradeable to 16. I used the price match refund of $100(Best Buy matched their own price which was posted in a sales ad the day after I purchased!) to max out the RAM to 16gb. So far, it has been flawless. I enjoy the long battery life and the super quick processor(Intel i7 2.4) I just upgraded to the new Windows 10 which was free today. It took me a couple weeks to get accustomed to 8.1, as I have been running Windows 7 for a couple years and I'm sure it will take as long to get used to 10. The OS is quite a bit different and I and not a fan of the new Windows Edge browser, but this has no bearing on the usefulness of the laptop. So far, I can't be happier with my purchase!
