This is a great laptop. Like everything about it. Just wish they came with the option to have the needed software already installed so you didn't have to do all these trials and then buy the software separate.

I got this laptop because I wanted to switch from Mac to PC but didn't want to spend a lot of money at one time. Going in with that mindset, I knew I wasn't going to get the greatest laptop, however, I bought this laptop because it had the specs I wanted. It is a decent laptop but it's not that great. I do intend to upgrade to something else at some point. My only real annoyance with this laptop is that you can't plug in an HDMI while it is in tablet mode.

Picture is great, speakers are great. I love the fingerprint scanner to unlock. Only major problem I have is there is a weird squeaking noise that is has passively. It gets louder when you scroll or when it is running some big process. It is also a little slower than I'd expect from a brand new laptop with a core i7 processor. Doesn't run games very well but great for work/school purposes.

Our surface pro 4 was starting to get sluggish, and then the screen developed problems,so we went looking to upgrade. This Dell machine has higher level specs in a solider form factor .So far, working well.

Computer has been working great but, multiple monitors are tricky. Existing monitors do not have the resolution of the computer so certain programs struggle. Quickbooks in particular.

The staff helped us pick out the laptop that would perform all the functions necessary for what we needed it for; not too little, and not too much. We appreciated the time the worker took to explain everything and to help us find the right one, and didn't make us feel rushed.

The first 2 in 1 purchased via Best Buy on-line suffered a total screen failure during set-up. Local Best Buy store staff were great in replacing that DELL. The replacement 2 in 1 is working great however quality concerns remain until I've had a chance to work with this pc/tablet for a bit.
I made my initial purchase on-line in an attempt to a avoid a 70 mile trip to the closest store. In my case a DELL quality control issue negated that from happening and I appreciate that Best Buy store personnel were able to help me out.

I got this laptop for all the specs and reviews, but apparently I had to experiment with technical issues as well. A year ago I bought this equipment and the blue screen also appeared several times. One day, out of nowhere, the screen went off and made a very loud sound. Then it rebooted and I got a message saying the hard drive is overworking and needed to be replaced. I took it to Best Buy for a revision and they ended up changing the hard drive, but when they returned the laptop, the technician told me that my laptop was going to keep giving me problems because the motherboard was the biggest problem. I do not recommend this equipment because later I tried to renew the warranty but the assistent that answered me from Dell told me that it would not cover any of the expenses even if the laptop was defective from the beginning.

Everything is as advertised. have used for almost one month. Love the sleek lines, fast searches and awesome display. Haven't used the touch screen much. Easing into that. Especially easy to set up for a non-techie person. Was up and running the same day of purchase.

No Web Cam built-in

Beware, it does not have a built-in Web Cam, the drivers may come with the OS, but no actual Web Cam. An easy test would be to launch Skype, and it will auto detect your Web Cam or you can look into Device Manager as well. Somebody else has posted on the Best Buy forums that this Laptop has one, but it is not true. Furthermore, Dell Customer service has confirmed it as well.
As to why there would not be one install, is beyond me. It makes no sense, now a days is part of the default configuration.

Excellent Hi-spec'd Laptop

Setup:
The initial setup is guided by Cortana. I normally turn Cortana off on my PC's, but for this setup, Dell did a good job of using it to go through the various setup steps, including registering and updating drivers.
Screen:
The screen has very narrow bezels on top and on the sides. The bottom bezel is wide. I was concerned about the 4k screen, thinking that at that of a high resolution, text and icons would be too small. But Dell has it scaled to 250% so text and icons are a good size. The scaling doesn't seem to have degraded the text or icons - both are sharp and crisp. The screen has good viewing angles. It is bright, even with brightness turned down to reduce battery usage. It is a little reflective, but not a mirror finish like some. I watched some 4k videos on youtube and the screen looked very good. The touch screen is more useful than I thought it would be. I've been using it in most instances that otherwise I would need to use the touch pad. The screen folds back 180 degrees so it can be used as a tablet (albeit a thick and heavy one).
Keyboard:
The keyboard has a good feel. The keys are quiet. They are backlit and the backlighting is bright. It is easy to identify keys in low light. The backlighting goes off automatically if the keyboard isn't used for several seconds, but comes back on if you push a key or touch the keypad. This saves on battery usage. There is a numpad on the right hand side. The arrow keys are small -- I would have preferred larger ones, but Dell had only so much real estate to work with.
Track Pad:
I normally don't like trackpads, but this one is pretty good. It is large and responsive. Still, I use the touch screen whenever possible instead of the trackpad.
Ports:
There are two USB 3.1 type-A ports, and one USB 3.1 type-C port. There is an HDMI out, headphone out, and a microSD card reader. I would have preferred a full size SD card reader, but maybe there wasn't room for one. However, it is good that it has a card reader at all.
Speakers/Sound:
The sound has good volume and good quality. I wouldn't want to listen to music with the speakers though. They are fine for youtube non-music videos.
Battery Life:
The battery is a 4-cell 68 Watt-hour lithium-ion. I would rate the battery life as decent but not great. I don't use a laptop for long periods of time, so it is more than sufficient for me. The battery charges through a round port made for the included charging brick. When I first used the laptop, the battery ran down fast. I had charged it to 100%, but it was down to 37% in a half an hour. Then I saw that there is a slider for moving between performance at one end, and better battery life at the other end. The slider was defaulted to 100% on the performance end. Moving it to somewhere in the middle made a big difference in battery life and I sensed no reduction in the performance for common tasks such as web surfing and MS Office.
Fan Noise:
The laptop is normally quiet. But the first time I used it, I set it on a towel placed on my desk thinking this would prevent scratches on the bottom from the unit shifting around during use. After a while I heard the fan running and found that the bottom of the laptop was quite warm. I realized that the towel was blocking the air vents on the bottom of the unit and thus it was heating up. Removing the towel solved the problem. I only point this out to show that the fan can be somewhat loud, but only if the laptop gets too hot, which may be avoidable unless you do something dumb like I did.
Performance:
I didn't do any benchmarking or testing, but subjectively this laptop is fast and responsive for everyday use such as web surfing, Word and Excel. With an i7, 16 GB RAM and an SSD, that is expected. I don't game, so I can't comment on gaming performance.
Build Quality, Size and Weight:
The build quality seems good. The screen hinge is smooth with no squeaks or creaks when folding it. It is decently thin, but I have seen thinner ones. The weight listed on the Dell website is just under 5 pounds. It feels a little heavy to me, but I am used to smaller laptops in the 13.3" range. The outer shell is matte black so it doesn't show fingerprints too badly.
Summary:
A very good laptop for someone who needs the power and speed and is willing to pay for it. There are less expensive options with a less capability. But catch this one on sale and it would be a good value.

This review is more for best buy than this laptop. I purchased this open box piece but it was without the charger and other cables and manual. So just the laptop with few blemishes. That's also fine. but problem came when I tried to register this laptop with Dell to start my warranty and found that warranty for the laptop was already over even before I purchased it. So yes, they sold me a 1 year used laptop as an open box item. Dell will not cover any problems (which i started seeing 1 week after my purchase and probably why this previous guy returned this laptop) unless I purchase a new warranty. Bestbuy website and my order page said it comes with 1 year manufacturer warranty but when I finally get to talk to a best buy rep after an hour long of hold they'll just say "talk to dell. they should do it for you." that's it. which means "yea we got your money now I don't care about anything".
Worst experience ever. Beware guys. Make yourself 100% sure before buying open box from best buy because they can really screw you up. I wish I could give 0 starts. but atleast I can contribute my bit by word of mouth.
