For this price you can get something better! The laptop crashed on my multiple times and was not strong enough to handle basic photo editing. My hard drive ended up crashing and I have to return the whole laptop. Really disappointed and wanted so dearly to love this laptop. Not the fastest and the pen is not rechargeable! Spend a little more money and get something better!

We're sorry to hear that your laptop did not meet all of your needs. In the future you can try to update the BIOS on your computer to help minimize the fan noise. We hope that you will consider another Dell computer in the future.

I bought this 6 months ago. Thought all was well by the specs. I got it home, within ONE day, pixel was out on the screen. I purchased the best buy service plan, and they swapped it out, not a problem. Also, the fingerprint scanner will scan your finger, but wont let you sign in using your fingerprint. The camera doesnt work! I sent it to dell, and they didnt even LOOK at it. I am thoroughly disappointed. I have maybe 3 or 4 hours of use.

For the price and for the specs, my expectations were set high. However, I returned this product disappointed. First of all the digital pen which came with the laptop was defective. It had a part missing. 2nd of all when I attempted to do a factory reset it would not allow this to happen. I was attempting a factory reset because the computer was behaving poorly and I was hopeful that a factory reset would correct the problem. It did not, so I have returned this product and the Geek Squad tech could not get the factory reset to work, He said he would have to try with different software to get it back to factory settings. I probably will never consider buying a Dell product again.

This Dell is amazing! I got it to replace my desktop. It's super quick. I was able to transfer all of my files onto it super fast. I had no problems downloading my printer software and getting it to sync. The picture is brilliant and crisp. The speed overall is impressive, starts up quickly, downloads quickly, I have no complaints. This laptop has everything you could want, 10 key, backlit keyboard, tablet mode and a pen that magnetically sits in it's own tray along with the speed and power and memory you want. Battery life has been great. This Dell feels like a quality laptop, not flimsy or cheap, it's not overloaded with a bunch of advertising junk. I'm really enjoying it and recommend it.

Bought an Open Box laptop supposedly Excellent and Geek Squad Certified. Supposedly this was to mean that all accessories are included and checked out by Geek Squad. The PC came without the Dell Active Pen and with the wrong size of power adaptor. Geek squad certified means nothing. Took to BestBuy store and they could do not anything for me but send the PC back. The store would not even try to make it right. Will not buy an Open box on-line and very disappointed in Best Buy. Will look at other vendors when I go looking to buy a PC to replace this one.

Disclaimer: I received this product for free in exchange for my honest review of the product. I was excited to see another Dell touchscreen laptop up for grabs on the list of products to review, this one complete with a 4k screen and the Dell Active Pen! It'd been a couple of years since I got the last one, and was hoping this one could be a replacement for that one (not that it really needs to be replaced) with the updates it has compared to the older one. After using it for a couple of weeks, though, I don't know that it'll be a regularly used replacement or not. Don't get me wrong, it's a great computer, but there are some little things that bug me about it. First, since there's a number pad on the keyboard, everything is off center, including the touch pad, and every other computer I regularly use does not, which makes it hard to bounce between the computers. Second, the power button is not labelled. I literally started pushing all kinds of buttons on the computer when I received it, and just happened upon it. Third, the box says there's a fingerprint sensor, Windows setup says there's a fingerprint sensor, but I have yet to figure out where the fingerprint sensor is. Again, an irritation, but not a deal breaker. Finally, the fan is very loud at times, especially when playing games or watching videos, and the bottom of the computer can get quite warm. The pluses? The Active Pen is fun to use, if you can figure it out. I actually downloaded some coloring apps and tried out coloring on my computer screen! The 4k screen is great (I don't have access to any actual 4k video) for standard HD videos. The speakers are on the bottom of the computer, which can muffle the sound a little, but not too badly. All in all, it's a good computer!

      erinb16,

Thanks for your review. We're sorry to hear that there are several things that are not working as well as you hoped they would on your computer. The fingerprint reader function that you're searching for is actually within the Power Button on your computer.

If you'd like the fans on your computer to run quieter, we'd recommend checking to make sure the BIOS on your computer is up to date: An out-of-date BIOS can cause loud fan noises by having an outdated temperature table for the system. Refer to update BIOS and follow the instructions to update the BIOS on your computer. You can also follow up with our Technical Support Team here - 1-800-624-9896.

You can read the full article here - http://dell.to/2ENlXfz.

Lastly, if you'd like your computer to run at a cooler temperature, here are some tips:

      Tips for Proper Usage:

      1. Dell does not recommend placing portable systems directly on your lap. Due to reductions in the thickness of modern portable systems, heat transfer can be an issue.
      2. Using a portable system (Laptop) on a hard, flat, non-cloth surface will increase airflow and reduce heat from underneath and inside the system.
Using the portable system on a blanket, pillow, or other types of cloth will cover up the fan cause the computer to overheat and can cause permanent damage.
      3. It is recommended to use the portable system in a Room temperature of 0°C to 35°C (32°F to 95°F) with a Humidity level no greater than 90%.
      4. Use compressed air to clean the vents on a regular basis.
      5. Using a cooling pad can decrease heat and increase performance.
      6. If you want to know the temperature limitations for your system, go to the Dell Support Website, look up your system model then open the user guide under the manuals link.

    Excellent Premium 2-in-1 Laptop

The Dell Inspiron 15 7000-series laptop is an excellent premium 2-in-1 laptop. Starting out, the overall construction and design is top-end. The aluminum chassis is very sleek and feels solidly built while not being overly heavy. The convertible screen hinge has just the right amount of resistance to it with no slop. The black anodized finish is attractive, though it is a fingerprint magnet. The back-lit keyboard, which features a full keypad, is chicklet style but has a good feel to it. The touch pad is large and very nice to work with. And the Dell pen stores magnetically in the screen hinge, which feels very secure and keeps the pen easily accessible. Regarding performance: Once fully setup, boot time (cold to login) has been very speedy (less than 25sec). App loading and switching is also very fast. Wifi range has been excellent; better than any other laptop in my home. The 4k screen is beautiful: Colors are vibrant and images crisp with plenty of brightness and excellent viewing angles. The touchscreen is very responsive to both finger and pen input. The stereo speakers are very clear and offer plenty of volume, though without much bass. Battery life has been good, with over 8 hours of mixed usage. And the unit is very quiet with minimal fan noise. Just a few other points: - There is minimal Dell software-bloat, which is nice. - The SD card reader is strictly Micro SD - There is NO Ethernet port (despite the BB description saying there is) - The combo power button/fingerprint reader is not marked (top-right key on the keypad). Finding it the first time took longer than it should have. - I haven't yet found a single instance where the pen buttons work. Even within tablet mode or apps like the Sketchpad All in all, the Dell Inspiron 15 is an excellent laptop.

I've been using this laptop for just over a week now. My initial impression when taking it out of the box was very solid build quality and a sleek look. Although I have to admit that it took me several minutes to figure out where the power button was. I ended up having to read the quick start instructions to find out that it's the small, un-marked button at the top of the number pad. It looks like it's part of the keyboard, vs being off on it's own or on the side of the laptop. I like the location, but a little power button indicator would be nice. The reason it doesn't have a mark ON the button is because it's also the fingerprint reader, so I'm guessing it needs to be blank. I found the fingerprint reader to be accurate and easy to setup once I knew it was there. The screen is beautiful with deep colors and high contrast. I tried several different types of movies to test the screen and saw no motion blur or other issues. I wish the bezels were a little thinner on the sides and top, but at this price point they are good. Also, when it's in tablet mode, I usually want some area to grab on to without contacting the touch screen, so not a deal-breaker for me. Typing is smooth and responsive. My one complaint with this device, is that the upper middle portion of the keyboard seems a little flimsy. If I push down on the "T" key, I noticed every key from 4-8 and the F keys above those all moved. This isn't an issue on other parts of the keyboard, just the center top 3 rows. It's a very minor complaint and it doesn't affect the typing or cause it to think other buttons were pushed, it's more of a design issue. The keyboard is back-lit, which is always nice, and I appreciate having a full number pad for doing spreadsheets. The included smart pen is a nice addition, especially for those who will use this to do graphic design or edit photos without marking up the screen with fingerprints. I like that it's stored on-board and that it's out of the way. Some people might want it to store inside the machine but given how thin the device is, I don't see them accomplishing that without sacrificing something else. In everyday use, I didn't use the pen much, but it's nice to have and I can see where others would use it a lot. The laptop is very quiet and stays cool. It did heat up a little bit when I was pushing it as hard as possible for an hour or so, but it quickly cooled down when I went back to normal settings and normal work. I like that the vents are on the back instead of the sides or underneath. It's very fast and I have not noticed any lag, even after I loaded it up with all my photos, music, videos, etc. Speakers aren't great, but they are on par with other laptops, and the keyboard issue I described above would be my only two knocks on this device. Neither is enough for my to take away a star because they are so minor. The included ports are 1 USB-C; 1 HDMI; 1 Micro SD card reader; 2 USB ports; 1 headphone jack. It also has bluetooth built in for further connectivity. All ports are on the sides, include the power port. I would have preferred a power adapter with a 90 degree angle vs a straight plug, but it's small enough that it's not in the way. Overall, this is a great 2 in 1 laptop in the price range for everyday use. It's fast & quiet with great graphics and a beautiful screen. It feels very sturdy overall and battery life is good, but that all depends on how hard you're pushing it. I would recommend this.

I purchased this in August. Power pack broke in August. Was sent an weaker charger that Best Buy claimed was compatible, but was not. I tried to disagree, but was told to live with it. I now have a dead computer because the firmware will not update without the right power. Best Buy initially rejected the warranty request, but now says they will pay for it, but I have to find/buy it. The part numbers they gave me do not exist and lead to links on Amazon and Dell.com for chargers that do not list this model as compatible. The Dell website support for the model indicate no chargers. $2000 lemon.

I would not recommend this computer at all... I spent 1500 dollars to use as my school computer and it broke due to corrosion on my mother board EVEN THOUGH IT NEVER HAD ANYTHING SPILLED ON IT!! I bought a 2 year warranty with it also and Best Buy tells me it’s only for one year. So here I am now just with a unless piece of junk collecting dust in my closet as Best Buy and Dell both refuse to fix it trying to suck every last penny out of your pockets. I will never buy a Dell computer again!

The cooler of this laptop makes a very loud and irritating noise which is obviously unpleasant especially when you are reading. The laptop heats too much, so the cooler gets turned on almost all the time. The display of this laptop causes eyestrain so fast as compared with my old laptop. I can read pdfs all day long on my old computer, but on this laptop, I cannot read continuously even for 2 hours. I believe this laptop uses more harmful blue light and other lights as compared with my old laptop.
