Good laptop with 4K display
|Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Pros: The laptop comes with a stylus. The AAAA battery is included, but not installed in the stylus. There is a nice magnetic storage dock for the stylus just below the display. This would be a great feature for those who like to use the laptop in tablet mode. Power button in the upper right-hand corner of the keyboard is unmarked because it doubles as a fingerprint reader. The fingerprint reader makes signing in fast, easy, and secure. The 500 GB Intel Optane+ SSD has read/write speed about 500/575 MB/s. The write speed is comparable to a NVMe drives, but half the read speed. Transfer speed the MicroSD slot (Class 10A1) was rock solid at just over 80MB/s. Writing (SSD to MicroSD) was about 45MB/s. Addition of the NVidia GX250 GPU enhances 3D graphics performance (an advantage for gaming). Cons: The USB 3 ports are unusually short. The male USB 2/3 dongles and cables will not go all the way in. The case is made of ferrous metal. This makes it difficult to use when wearing my watchband with a magnetic clasp. The keyboard includes number pad on the right side. Having a number pad may be a benefit for some, but its placement means that the QWERT keyboard and mouse pad are left of center relative to the display. This was rather disorienting for me since I like being centered on the display when I work. The display had a blue/green hue with the default 34EB color profile and required color calibration. After calibration the display was capable of rendering 97% of the RGB color gamut, but only 76% and 80% of the NTSC and AdobeRGB gamuts, respectively. Once calibrated, the display was quite good at rendering streaming 4K content. It’s limitations in the NTSC and AdobeRGB color spaces suggest that this would not be the best choice for photo editing. There is a MicroSD card slot, but no standard-size SD slot. The MicroSD slot is not compatible with the standard SD card used in my camera. The bus speed (~13K MB/s) is about half of that of high-end Dell laptops (e.g. XPS15[9570]). Overall: The CPU and graphics processing speed are quite good, but higher bus speeds are available in more expensive Dell laptops. The SSD is capable of write speeds comparable to NVMe drives, but read speed was half as fast. The display had a notable blue/green cast and required color calibration to render 97% of the RGB color gamut. The limitations in the NTSC and AdobeRGB color gamuts make it a poor choice for photo editing without an external (4K) monitor. The NVidia GPU is a nice addition for gamers.

Beautiful laptop
|Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Beautiful laptop easily converts to a tablet! I love the ability of the stylus & how it magnetically rest above the keyboard! It's definitely not my first choice when it comes to games such as fortnite although I am able to play it. It gets hot and the battery life isn't the best with a game of that level. However with schooling and everything else I need to do it preforms well. I did have some minor issues arise with my wifi adapter that were easily fixed by going through the settings which makes me love this laptop even more for convenience and ease of use! The 4k screen is beautiful! I love devices like cortana so that's a plus as well! I haven't experienced any delays everything runs extremely smooth even when I have a split screen multitasking!

This thing rocks!!
|Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. This my first Dell laptop and my first laptop with an SSD. Received the Dell laptop and plugged it in to make sure it was fully charged. OK, now I’m ready to turn it on… I can’t find the power button. Nothing at the upper left corner… Nothing on the side of the laptop. No power symbol showing on or near a button on the laptop. Grabbed the instructions and read that the power button is located at the upper right corner by the number pad. A minor irritation, but once I turned the laptop on, I was good. Hey, this keyboard likes up! Normally this wouldn’t impress me, but the last two laptops I purchased didn’t have lights under the keys, so it’s a nice feature to have. I also like how the light fades off when there is no typing and how the light fades back on when typing resumes. Wow, this thing started up pretty quickly. Logged into my profile and found it some files needed to be updated. I hit the reset button and I see the Windows blue screen reading off the percentage. It went from 40% to 100% in about 10 seconds. The reboot appeared to take about 20 seconds and it was back to the main screen. I had heard about the pros and cons of a SSD versus the HDD and I’m seeing the benefits right in front of me. So far, the combination of the SSD and the Core I7 is making me switch over from a laptop I just purchased in December. I just finished transferring Word, PowerPoint, Excel and iTunes to this machine. I really haven’t had time to test the speakers as I’m normally using my earbuds, but there were no issues connecting with the Bluetooth or casting from the laptop to the TV. I’m typing this paragraph using the 2-in-1 feature for the first time. Even though I’m a tablet user, it feels weird and will take some time to get used to. However, I do see how people will like it and I’m impressed with how easy it is to type while using the keyboard bent backwards to support it sitting on my lap. I really have not had a reason to use the stylus other than for this review and I’m not a stylus person, but it works well with this laptop. Three nitpicks: 1) it’s slightly heavier than my previous laptop (HP). Nothing where I’m going to sprain my wrist carrying it, but it’s enough to notice. 2) There isn’t a DVD drive on this laptop, but I don’t believe the majority of people will miss it. 3) one HDMI port, two USB ports and a Micro SD port. Not a big deal for me, but I can understand where this might be issue for others. Upon further research, the power button is also fingerprint scanner if you chose to turn it on instead of typing in a password or PIN. So: it’s powerful, it’s fast, it’s versatile. And it just became my go-to laptop. I may have just converted to Dell laptops until further notice.

Pretty good for everyday use
|Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. This is a pretty nice laptop that would meet and exceed the needs and wants of the "everyday" user, in my opinion. Firstly, I will say that the overall quality and "feel" of the laptop is pretty nice - it definitely feels pretty good. It is definitely not that heavy, either for the quality. The 4k touchscreen is also very sharp, responsive, and is great for when wanting to use this product in "tablet" mode, which I find very, very useful with work and entertainment purposes. The battery life is also pretty good, though I usually tweak with my settings on computers to get some more performance out of them. The speed of this laptop is also very fast in my opinion, though that is also assisted with the SSD for storage, which is awesome - I wish this was the standard with all laptops, though that is slowly improving. Furthermore, this laptop has all, or almost all, of the features you would expect from a higher quality laptop - illuminated keyboard, 16 GB of ram - which is probably more than what the average person needs, but a good standard nowadays. Now, I will also say that not everything is great about this laptop, though that is definitely subjective. I will say that it is pretty darn good, though. For example, for the quality and feel of this laptop, the keyboard keys do feel a little bit of "lower" quality. Also, opening the laptop can be a little struggle. I do wish there was some small sort of textured finger or thumb grip to assist with opening the laptop. Additionally and lastly, and this isn't really a "con", but of course the laptop does come with some "bloatware" that can easily be removed/uninstalled. If you are looking for a "gaming" laptop, this is probably not the one for you, but for the "everyday" person looking for awesome screen quality and a laptop that can function as a tablet, this easily fits the bill. Overall, I am pretty happy with this laptop. I look forward to continue using this for a few years!

Great computer!
|Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. The Dell Inspiron 7590 2-in-1 laptop is very nice and very well built! The box included the laptop, stylus, cord, warranty info and a 3 little page foldout instruction sheet. I get that everything is available online to download but the instruction sheet could have been a little more user friendly for those of us that hate downloading and reading online. With that being said, Cortana was a life saver and made the set up pretty easy after you found the power button which is on the top right side of the keyboard (not labeled). This button also serves as a fingerprint/security button. When I started the computer, the battery needed to be charged so that happened and it charged pretty quickly. It was able to find my accounts and sync this computer with my other computers – very much liked that capability. Some of the software on the computer was out of date so I checked to update everything before playing around with the computer. It took way too long to sync with my Android phone – maybe because I have tons of information, files and pictures on it?? The battery life initially wasn’t very good, so I adjusted some settings and it seems to last much longer. I’ve been using it for a good 6hrs today and still have about 3 hrs left on the charge. The processing speed of the 7590 is wonderful too – things happen so much quicker than on my Samsung – enough RAM to make the average user happy… coming from someone who hates to wait LOL - . I also love the side number keypad as it makes typing in numbers so much easier and quicker for me. It takes some getting used to sitting a little to the left of the computer to use the regular keyboard, but I like it! The screen quality 4k is awesome and the touch screen is very responsive and precise. Love to be able to bend it back all the way and have it feel stable to use it in tablet mode. Love that it has an HDMI port so that we can throw Netflix, pictures, etc. up to the TV. Very please with this Dell computer/laptop/tablet and would highly recommend.!

Good option for the pros
|Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. This laptop have some top of the line components in it. With an 8th gen i7 processor with a 9000+ Passmark store, this guy is a beast and should gracefully handle whatever you through at it. With an NVIDIA MX250 discreet GPU, this should easily handle all your 3d rendering or gaming needs. A single 16GB DDR4 RAM stick is a cherry on the top which leaves the other slot usable in case of any future needs. The 512GB SSD makes booting and running large compute and graphics intensive programs a breeze. In my opinion, the only thing it lacks is the overall build. Although this is one hefty machine, it's outer casing is made up plastic as compared to brushed aluminum which I have observed on other high end computers. This issue apart, I felt like this is a very solid and dependable machine which should easily be a daily driver for a professional for at least 5 years if taken care off properly.

Good Student Gaming Laptop
|Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. This was a compromise between me wanting a good computer my child could do her school work on and my child requesting a good gaming computer she doesn't have to share. This is good for both. Just to see speed, she decided to download four big gaming files to get started and was pleasantly surprised at the speed in which they downloaded. It took less than an hour for all four to download. The computer keeps up with the games and she hasn't experienced any lag time. The graphics are clear, so is the sound and she likes it much better than a higher end gaming laptop we have for family use. She was very impressed that it came with a stylus and that there is a place to keep it as well. She's had no problems switching from PC to tablet mode. I found the switch much better than on my 2 in 1 as it will stay in the mode you want, not change in the middle of you doing something like mine does. This is a kid-tested, parent approved product.

Overall Great Laptop, Screen Lightened Over the Ye
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Love the touchscreen/2-in-1 function. Processor is fast and it has plenty of RAM to run multiple applications simultaneously. Great size and has a numeric keypad on the right of the keyboard. My only complaint is that over time (I have had the laptop for 3 years now) the screen has developed slight lighter spots/sections. It is most noticeable when you first power it on and are looking at the black loading screen with the Dell logo. Still an overall great laptop (especially considering it got it as an open box sale price item).

It starts up fast and the resolution is very clear. It has a nice keyboard and is backlit. The touch screen is nice and I love the Tablet mode. Best Laptop for College
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Well, I was using surface pro 4 with lost pen... The pen was not attaching well, which caused me to lose. However, this laptop is decent with hinge modified to contain the pen! The display is sick with UHD (3840X2160). The graphic is also enough for programs (especially engineering softwares). Buy this if you need laptop with right price!
