Bad HDMI, and not so great beyond Admin use

Decent use for basic Admin use. The HDMI port seems to have a weird short where it goes in and out during Zoom calls. For everyday use, it seems to be OK.

I have all Dell computers, 5 total, and they all work great except this one for 1000. Part of the problem the lack of information from Best Buy and Dell. After purchasing this computer and finally getting to the point of setting Windows Hello up, the fingerprint sensor work, but not great. The Main Problem is that in a 1000 dollar computer they cheaped out on the Camera and it does not work with Windows Hello. This was confirmed by Microsoft and Dell on 10/27/2021 and 10/28-2021.

I haven't even owned this pile of crap a full year yet and this is now the third time it's dead in the water. Of course having a best buy, fancy pants subscription to be able to have tech support for a year is nothing its promised to be either. Honestly this is why i dont buy from best buy type stores. Now im stuck with this garbage laptop and i have to wait weeks to over a month just to get in and have them band aide another fix until next time.. which im willing to bet will be sometime just slightly after the tech support expires

      Dear Valued Customer,

Thanks for your review. We're sorry that your computer stopped working for you. We'd recommend that you check Dell's One Year Limited Warranty policy to see if your computer qualifies: https://dell.to/39iwZuX.

If you'd like to try to start your computer again you can follow these steps:

      1. If the computer is displaying the Dell logo and does not move past that point, it has probably failed POST.
      2. If the power indicator lights up and it is amber or orange, this is usually an indicator that it has failed POST.
      3. If you see text on a black screen, the computer is currently performing the POST. If the computer stays in that condition and does not move past it, it has probably failed POST.
      4. If the video screen displayed anything at all during the startup process but is now black, this probably indicates that the computer failed POST.
      5. If the computer is beeping or if Caps/Num/Scroll Locks are flashing, note if there is a particular pattern in which it beeps or flashes.
      6. If the computer is not beeping and caps/num/scroll locks are not flashing, unplug all connections and remove all media communication devices (e.g. external monitors); reconnect one at a time and check if the computer functions.
      7. For a notebook, press and hold the Fn key and then press the power button. This starts the pre-boot testing and will launch ePSA. In case you have a Desktop at the Dell logo screen tap the F12 key to enter One Time Boot Menu and use the arrow keys to highlight Diagnostics and press enter.

    Great laptop, terrible sales experience

During the sales process of this laptop at a Best Buy Retail store, I was reassured that the laptop would come pre-installed with Windows 10 Professional. I am starting a new consulting job soon and it is a pre-requisite to have Windows 10 Pro configured for client onboarding. When my laptop arrived today I was disappointed to find that Windows 10 home was installed on my laptop and not windows 10 pro as was communicated to me. After being on hold for best buy support for over an hour. this issue has not been resolved. I recommend buying the laptop from Dell directly.

Very disappointed with the customer support. In a little over a month the cursor became erratic. I contacted Dell and after over an hour on the phone they re-booted the PC which did not fix the problem. Now they want to send someone out in the next week to have a look at it. This was bought for school use and school starts this week, not much use at this point. Dell's solution certainly does not meet my expectations.

Best Buy reset it, and within 4 more days the laptop would just black screen for no reason and restart. By the end of the 5th day, it was "black screening" several times an hour. Dear Crittur,

Thank you very much for your valued feedback. We are sorry to hear that you have come across some troubles with your Dell Inspiron 7000 laptop because it is showing only a black screen. Below I have provided tips to help resolve this problem, along with the full article link, which has more options if they are needed.

*Ensure that the display is connected to the correct port and powered on.
*Ensure that the display data cable is not damaged and replaced if necessary.
*Ensure that the correct Input Source on the display is correctly selected.
*Remove the data cable from the system. A Self-Test box should appear on the display.
*If the Self-Test box does not appear on the display, replace the display with a verified working unit.
*If there is still no display showing, check if the video was shown during the POST routine.
*If the video was shown during POST, the display or graphics driver could be the cause.
*Restart the system into Safe Mode. To load Safe Mode, press and hold the F8 key as your system restarts.
*This loads the Advanced Boot Menu. Select Safe Mode. Install the current versions of the display and graphics card drivers. Restart the system, and check for video.
*If available, replace the graphics card with a verified working card.
*If both graphics card and monitor work ok on another PC, then contact technical support to resolve the problem.

With the issues that I have with the device and the price that I paid for it, I would not recommend buying this device.

Purchased in "Excellent condition" open box. When I received it no power cord was in box. So I had to order a cord from Dell. When I powered it on it kept displaying that it wasn't the correct cord. I end of returning it because it wouldn't charge and the bios couldn't be update. I would only purchase it new.
