Another Dell Success Story!
|Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Several days before I decided to get this computer, one of my best friends bought this identical desktop. In fact, I helped him pick it out and get it all set up. It was then I had decided that I wanted one. The greatest thing about the Dell Inspiron Compact Desktop is that it is built for normal, everyday people who don't want to play all the latest high tech games, and who don't need the high-end, processor and video card intensive video editing or other types of software. I am one of those who uses an office suite to do my writing, spreadsheets, and occasional presentations. I watch a lot of videos, surf the internet, do the social media thing, and do a lot of sharing of photographs and stuff. Every time I went to look at computers, I was almost always pushed in the direction of the biggest, baddest, and fastest computers in the store. And when I let them know I wasn't looking for all that, then the salesperson would try to push me in the direction of a computer that was little better than a doorstop. This particular desktop sports a 256GB solid state drive. This intrigued me, seeing that every other desktop or laptop I have ever purchased had a physical hard drive in it. No moving parts...period. This allows for crazy-fast startups. From the time I push the on button until the computer is fully booted is right at 10 seconds. TEN SECONDS! I've owned computers that took almost ten minutes! The Inspiron also comes with 12GB RAM, which allows for using several programs at the same time with no slow down. Now, I installed the full LibreOffice software suite, DaVinci Resolve video editor, Audacity audio editing software, and Steinberg Cubase Elements 9.5. Resolve and Cubase can be pretty demanding, even on my built-to-the-hilt Dell laptop, and the Inspiron handles them flawlessly. No lag, no buffering, no crashes. When I have two or more of the higher-demand programs open, there is a very slight slowdown, but in reality, I almost never work on more than one project at a time, so this isn't even an issue. Another GREAT feature of the Inspiron is that it comes with a built-in media reader. You don't need to tether a media reader to the desktop, and use one of the available USB ports. Which speaking of USB ports, this unit comes with EIGHT total USB ports: Four USB 2.0 Type A ports, three USB 3.2 Type A ports, and one USB 3.2 Type C port. Wow. There is a DVD/RW, and it also has one HDMI port. And of course, I have to mention it can connect to the internet wirelessly using wi-fi. The unit is almost silent. There is the slightest whisper from the cooling fan, but that is the only sound the desktop makes. There are a couple of very small things I'm not too crazy about. The mouse and keyboard just seem so out of place with this desktop. The Inspiron is a rather elegant looking unit, and the included keyboard and mouse are clunky and plain, and corded. In all honesty, the mouse feels like those big fat pencils we used to use in first and second grade. In my opinion, I think spending a few extra dollars for a wireless keyboard and mouse would be well worth it. THE BOTTOM LINE This is the perfect computer for the person who needs a great all-around workhorse. The Inspiron is everything most people need, plus a little more. It's solid, performs well, and is super quick. It won't bog down under what most people would throw at it, and it can hold its own while running a demanding software program. It's perfect for students and home offices. And the price makes this a great and affordable addition. I would highly recommend the Dell Inspiron Compact Desktop to everyone who needs a great all-around do-almost-anything computer.

Love This Dell 3910 Compact Desktop Computer!
|Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Received the Dell Inspiron Compact desktop model 3910 in Mist Blue. Was shipped very fast and packed well in heavy duty box. It has the 64 bit Windows 11 OS, Intel Core i5-12400 Processor, 12 GB memory, 256GB SSD drive and Intel UHD 730 Graphics. Also has a DVD+/-RW drive, wireless Wifi 6 for fast connection speeds, Bluetooth and an SD card reader. For your monitor you have an HDMI input, one Display port input and the other ports consist of 4 USB 3.0 and 4 USB 2.0 as well as a USB type-C. Dell also includes a wired mouse and full size keyboard - both USB. Upon unpacking I noticed how nice and lightweight it was with everything conveniently placed. On the front you'll find a power button, 4 USB inputs and the SD reader plus of course the DVD player at top. Upon first starting the computer it was very quiet and booted into a setup menu. You then can connect to a wired ethernet or a wireless network (which is what I chose). It then started checking for updates. I have a 32" 4K monitor and so far the images are crisp, brilliant and clear. I had tried using this monitor with another computer and all it did was have an annoying, non-stop flicker. No such issue using this computer so am very pleased about that. The setup went smoothly with questions about your usage type, options you plan on doing with the computer, etc. Mainly the normal setup routines you find on any new computer. I did plug in my Bose computer speakers but I also use a Zeppelin bluetooth speaker that connects flawlessly to the Dell every time I turn it on. It uses Microsoft Edge for the browser and there are 10 standard icons across bottom of the screen. Another thing I really noticed after getting it all updated was how blazing fast things load, including when you first turn it on! Within about 10 seconds you are ready to browse or work. Every website or app I clicked on just popped right up on the screen. I am impressed and really love that about this Dell. I played music, went on my singing program website where I record songs and it performed perfectly! Since I am no longer a gamer that is one thing I couldn't test. I did do a speed test though and on wireless was surprised to see it running at 489 download and 23 upload. We pay for just 400 service but this Dell rocks for extra speed! It seriously is the fastest running computer in my house. I also used the built in Power Media Player to play a DVD and it looked awesome. Since the SSD drive is only a 256GB you can easily add an external drive or another SSD drive of a larger size. I do find that I will need an external drive but they are so reasonable in price now it's not a problem at all and should not deter you from making the purchase of this computer. If you want a basic, but remember REALLY FAST and QUIET, desktop without a lot of bells and whistles this is the one for you! It seems very reliable and was so easy to setup, has enough inputs for what most folks will need and I can't find anything wrong with it at all to mention. I am quite happy with my Dell Inspiron 3910 and am sure you will be too! Great computer - super price - just buy it!

Old Reliable.
|Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I’ve recommended Inspiron computers since Dell introduced the line of computing devices to people who need very simple computing tasks like web browsing, email, word processing and not much more. The form factor of this device hasn’t changed much. I sat this new one next to an Inspiron from 3 years ago and my first thought when comparing them is that “if it ain’t broke don’t fix it.” Aside from the updated Intel CPU logo on the front of the chassis, it’s hard to tell the two units apart (except that this one is a blue chassis instead of black). Looking closer the addition of a single USB-C port on the new unit and then on the back there’s now both HDMI and DisplayPort built into the motherboard. Inside the case there’s only a few tweaks including the updated CPU. These boxes are easy to service, and if you need to upgrade the hardware in them with newer components Dell makes it easy to access. The Inspiron this is replacing also has a Blu-Ray drive in it and I’m finding a heck of a time finding any use for the thing. All of my media is USB or digital at this point and all my movie watching is streamed making the additional Blu-Ray drive seem antiquated. On the other hand this is a desktop computer which many would find quaint at this point. Personally, I enjoy the comfort of always knowing where my computing device is. Overall this PC continues to a a great buy for anyone needing simple computing needs and the chassis is small enough to hide inside most standard desks.

Almost Perfect...
|Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. The small Dell desktop is very impressive. It is lightweight (I was surprised there was a computer in the box), and compact. I have it laying sideways on my desk with the monitor on top. It comes with multiple ports - USB (seven), HDMI (2), SD card slot and even a USB-C port. It is extremely quiet - can't even hear it next to my custom desktop. The set up is easy and straightforward - with Windows 11. I don't like having to have a Microsoft account, but that's a minor issue. Would be great to be able to use just an email (although I did use a Gmail account to set up the Microsoft account). As a side note - I like the new Windows desktop, start menu and widgets. The speed of this computer is exceptional, but there are some small delays when running some of the built in apps. Not an issue with operations, but sometimes noticeable. The Dell SupportAssist is a very helpful tool that provides a summary of updates, files, and virus protection, as well as troubleshooting and history. This is a convenient way to troubleshoot. The only issue I had however, was connecting my headphones to the front USB-C port. I ended up just having to restart the computer, and they worked. Overall, this is a great "little" computer, with plenty of storage, tons of ports, great speed.

A Great Little Desktop
|Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. Not as "compact" as I would have liked, but definitely smaller than a full size desktop. The size is still good. Overall, it's a great system. The I5 paired with the internal SSD and 12 GB of RAM make for a very quick and responsive system. Downloads and installs are extremely fast. Connection for a DisplayPort and HDMI monitor is great for dual monitors. Having a headphone jack in the front as well as an audio port in the back is something not seen too often on "smaller" or mid-range systems anymore. It's also really nice to see a USB-C port in the front. Just wish there was one in the back too. I also wish that they had included 2 USB-A 3.0 ports in the front, instead of just the one. Given the new standard, I would have thought it a better move to include 2 USB-A 3.0 ports and 1 USB-A 2.0 ports, but I understand the reasoning. Even though the "compact" system is bigger than I had originally expected, it's nice to see that there are expansion slots. Furthermore, I'm pleasantly surprised that it also includes a DVD+/-RW drive. Seems like disc drives aren't offer much anymore. Great little system.

Good daily driver for most casual users
|Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. Not everyone needs a high-end gaming or graphics computer, and the Dell- Inspiron Compact Desktop is a great general purpose desktop computer that will exceed the demands most casual users place on their computer. While most people have moved to laptops exclusively, a good desktop can still earn its place with features that are no longer standard on most laptops, including an internal DVD+RW drive and the ability to easily upgrade memory and graphics cards. I was able to open and navigate several large spreadsheets, browse the internet, create Powerpoints, do some light video editing, and listen to music without a hitch. Switching between tasks was quick with no hiccups. The included 12 GB RAM will be enough for most casual users, but if you want to play higher-end games or do serious video or music editing, the out of the box RAM won't be enough. The machine is much quieter than my laptops with much less fan noise. It comes with a fairly basic wired keyboard and mouse. They work fine, but if you're picky about your input devices, you'll want to upgrade. If you're looking for a basic computer for business tasks or school work, this is a great option that is upgradable and doesn't take up much room.

Basic Windows 11 PC for beginners
|Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. The Dell Inspiron 3910 is a basic Windows 11 desktop PC without higher functionality. The software provided is minimal and of course includes trialware. It was nice that a later generation I5 processor, 12GB of RAM, an SSD drive and a DVD drive were included but the SSD drive is small, 256GB and 16GB of RAM should be the minimum these days. Upgradeability is not good since the case is small and does not have much room for anything but another 2.5/3.5 inch hard drive (looks like 3.5 would be a stretch) and one PCI express X16 card slot. There is a PCI express X1 card slot but that's only for sound cards or network/modem cards. There is no 4K video since the Intel UHD graphics adapter has a max resolution of 1920x1080 which surprised me. The included ports are okay but there is only one USB-C port and it's on the front of the case and none on the back. That seems strange to me when USB-C is the new standard. There are plenty of USB-A ports, though. This PC seems fast enough for basic work and beginner users but nothing advanced.

Missing cable.
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Four stars because of missing HDMI cable. I bought the Inspiron 3910 as an "open box" discount deal. Saved $136. The machine works great after I had to go to an Ace Hardware to buy an HDMI cable for my monitor ($13 added expense). The packing box showed an HDMI cable included. I called the Geek Squad to say there was no HDMI cable and they wanted to send a tech to my house in December to figure it out. Hah!

Nice PC with poor tech support from Dell
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I like this new Dell desktop except for one thing: There’s some great mystery preventing AEOMI software from making its Boot Media in this pc. This affects ability to restore disk images, which I make regularly in case of virus or malware attacks. Dell support is no help unless I pay them for fixing something they’re keeping secret. I have a work-around but that’s my only CON.
