This is my first review on this site, I felt it important to write this review so others know about my experience with this PC. Pros: Excellent motherboard: The motherboard allows for (2) M.2 SSD Drives, (2) Full PCIe ports (1) PCIe Mini Good case size: The size of the case made working on it much easier, the case allows for (2) internal hard drives, (1) SSD drive, (1) front fan, (1) additional optical drive (3) PCIe cards as stated above. Excellent wire management system: The case has clips on the inside to keep wire management nice and simple. Average CPU Heatsink: my opinion is that most people probably won’t need to upgrade this but for those of you that run multiple VM’s or do heavy gaming, things that will require lots of processing power I would advise getting an upgraded heatsink. Cons: Power Supply: The power supply I received was under 460W I had to upgrade to a 600W. Case Issue 1: The case appears to be a custom case. I had a very difficult time finding a power supply that would fit in this case. (For those wondering for me the Thermaltake Smart 600W 80+ White Continuous was able to fit the case.) Case Issue 2: Air flow is problematic with this machine, like so many others have stated, the machine gets hot. For me this issue was fixed by adding a fan to the front of the case. There are 4 slots to add rubber screws to the case. To save you all time and headache the fan size I used was (92mm – 4 or 3 pin will work). The screws I used were the (Noctua NA-SAV4) for me no other screws would fit the case, I had to cut the screws to size because they ran a little long. Motherboard Power issues while using the PCIe Mini port: The motherboard I got did not like power being supplied by Molex but it had no issue once I changed to SATA, I do not have a reason why this was so for me. RAM: The motherboard only has 2 RAM slots, the RAM does not come with adequate heatsink, and the computer came with 1-16GB RAM chip. I had purchased a heatsink case for the RAM. All in all my opinion is that this machine is average at best and should not be purchased unless you want to spend at least a hundred dollars (as of today’s date 8-24-18) in extra in parts to make it run the way it should. Finally everything stated above is my opinion based on my experience with my purchase. This information may not hold true for everyone, I am simply trying to help others out.

      TechGuy,

We're very sorry to hear that your computer is getting hotter than you had hoped it would. Here are some tips to keep your computer cooler:

      Tips for Proper Usage:

      1. Dell does not recommend placing portable systems directly on your lap. Due to reductions in the thickness of modern portable systems, heat transfer can be an issue.
      2. Using a portable system (Laptop) on a hard, flat, non-cloth surface will increase airflow and reduce heat from underneath and inside the system.
Using the portable system on a blanket, pillow, or other types of cloth will cover up the fan cause the computer to overheat and can cause permanent damage.
      3. It is recommended to use the portable system in a Room temperature of 0°C to 35°C (32°F to 95°F) with a Humidity level no greater than 90%.
      4. Use compressed air to clean the vents on a regular basis.
      5. Using a cooling pad can decrease heat and increase performance.
      6. If you want to know the temperature limitations for your system, go to the Dell Support Website, look up your system model then open the user guide under the manuals link.

I'd like to start off by saying Best Buy has been absolutely fantastic in my ordeal with these machines. That said, lets get in to it! Both machines did boot, both did play games (and didn't die during games). It came with FarCry 5? That's where the good stops. Originally I bought one of these that claimed to have a liquid cooling unit in the machine, the rear fan is an 80mm on these machines. I figured, how neat would an 80mm liquid cooled machine be? (These do exist by the way, and you can find them) The units listed on site DO NOT have a liquid cooling unit. That was my first experience and then it gets all kinds of bad. All of the Inspiron ads say that this machine clearly has 2x PCI-E 16x slot(s). They do not. These PCI-E slots only run at 8x. (I did not know that going in, seeing as X370 chipset clearly supports 16x PCI-E). The Power Supplies in these machines is EXTREMELY crippled and barely has any space to get proper ventilation - Switching to a different one will be very difficult and the 850w refurb from Dell will cost you $$$. There's only 1 rear facing 80mm fan (which works okay, but seriously?). No Wraith cooler on the CPU. The graphics card is barely an RX480 not an RX580. The 16GB DDR4 is 2400 Single Channel with awful timings, not dual, and even if it were it's the cheapest set they could find. They even went out of their way to prevent you from swapping the motherboard with another mATX one. (Which would solve some of the issues with these machines). Finally to top all of that off, the HDD basically ran at 100% ALWAYS. Updating the drivers with the Dell software caused it to BSOD on me and I gave up on the machine. My experience with these was not pleasant and thus I cannot recommend them to anyone. All I can say is, search this machine online thoroughly before you buy it. You can find a lot of what I just mentioned on Dell's community forum. So you won't have to take my word for it. This machine is definitely a cut above the average OEM from days past, but no real winner for a power user.

      Brad,

We're very sorry to hear that your new computer does not have all of the enhancements that you had hoped for. If you'd like help diagnosing your Blue Screen Errors you can follow these steps:

      1. At the desktop, click the Search the web and Windows box and type "problem reports".
      2. Select View all problem reports to view a list of errors that have occurred on your computer and possible solutions for them, such as updating drivers, flashing your system BIOS, or checking for updates to the software.
      3. Under the Source column, look for Windows and under Summary, look for Shut down unexpectedly.
      4. Right-click the line item and select Check for a solution.

We'd also suggest checking to make sure that your software and drivers are up to date on Dell's Product Page -

If you'd like to read additional articles about your computer you can check out our Product Support Page here - http://dell.to/2qhifat.

We hope that these tips help your computer perform the way that you intended it to.

I have a home-based business and am on the computer most of the day. I've sat in front of HP All-In-Ones for years, so this is a real change for me, and I'm very happy with this Inspirion Dell. I'm not a gamer, but I spend most of my computer time editing photos, and it's perfect for allowing me to effectively and quickly do this, while also providing the processing ability to multi-task in other windows and with other programs. It's quiet and fast. I paired it with a hi-res 27" LG and I couldn't be happier.
