The computer (Dell Latitude 12.5" i5 8gb 128gb SSD Model LATI7280FXG52) is everything I expected. The i5/8gb combination is more than sufficient to keep 6-8 tabs open in the browser, handle complex Open Office documents and spreadsheets, and photo editing with Photoshop Elements. The non-glare screen works well in every indoor lighting condition I've thrown at it, in contrast to Gorilla glass touch-screen laptops I've used that glare me into a headache. The keyboard is good, and I appreciate the backlighting in low-light conditions. I use a mouse so I haven't worked with the touchpad. The battery seems to last 8-12 hours browsing and word processing, I can typically go 3-4 days before charging. Construction is solid, and more to the point, feels solid. I don't have any concerns about using it in a variety of conditions, including in a shop at a railroad museum where I volunteer. In short, it is an excellent laptop for business/travel.

I purchased the Latitude 7280 about six months ago, and have used it regularly since then for travel, as a home laptop when I don't want to be tethered to my desktop, and as a work computer at a railroad museum where I volunteer two days a week. The 7280 has met all my expectations, and then some. It is rugged to a fault, performs well under load with multiple programs open, has sufficient memory to eliminate disk swapping, and has more than sufficient storage for ordinary business/personal use. I considered an XPS 13 when I was deciding what to purchase. While I think that the XPS 13 is a near-perfect laptop, I decided on the Latitude 7280 because it is very rugged, I didn't care about a touchscreen, and needed a non-glare screen for the environments where I use the laptop. After six month's experience with the 7280, I'm glad I made that decision.
