Great computer, didn't last 2 months!

We were skeptical buying a refurbished computer, but decided to because of the 1 year warranty that came with it. After just 2 months the internal battery went kaput, so it now only works when it's plugged into the wall power. We scheduled a Geek Squad appointment to have it looked at, but they were 2 weeks out. Finally the appointment came and the verdict was we needed to ship the computer to another location across the country for repairs that would take around 1 month, maybe even longer. We rely on our computer, so to be without it for 1 month is ridiculous. I don't understand how they think it's ok to put customers in this type of situation without as much as offering a temporary loaner or something while we wait for our computer to be repaired. Terrible experience that was worth sharing, so others know to steer clear.

      Hi,

Thank you for your review. I am sorry to hear about the issues you have had with your battery on your computer. Here are some steps you may take to increase the performance of your battery,

      Change the Power Plan:

      1. On the notification area of the taskbar, right-click the Battery icon.
      2. On the options list, click Power Options.
      3. Select a power plan on the battery meter, such as Power Saver or Balanced. Windows 10 has a built in 'Battery Saver' mode that can be activated to extend your system's battery life. The Battery Saver mode will monitor and limit background activity and other features such as push notifications. You do have the option to enable or disable this mode within settings or within advanced Battery Saver settings, you can customize the mode to best suit your needs.

      a) Click on the Action Center icon in the taskbar and select the tile for Battery Saver.
      b) If running Cortana then type Battery Saver into the search box and select from the results.
Within the Battery Saver settings page, you will be able to turn on and off the feature and customize the feature to best meet your needs.
      c) Turn Battery Saver On or Off.
      d) Additional settings available via the Battery use and Battery saver settings links.
      e) Battery use shows further info on apps and their power usage.
      f) Battery Saver Settings screen allows you to customize further Battery Saver feature.

Recently purchased laptop, and to say I'm happy is an understatement! Needed a laptop that I could use got school work when not home. I was unsure how it would perform especially at a price of $300. EXCEEDS expectations, I would recommend this laptop to anyone looking for a reasonably priced option. Overall A++++++

I was ok with getting a refurbished item, usually they work out alright. This one did not. From day 1 I experienced issues with the monitor, either not coming back on after the computer went into screen saver/battery saver modes. I was able to turn it off and back on, and experienced issues with the screen imaged coming on and off if I adjusted the angle of my screen. When I tried to investigate my options, I was told I could send it out for repair but that typically isn't s good sign from a refurbished item. There was nothing else similar in my price range so ultimately I left empty handed after returning the defective device.

I bought this not reading "pre-owned" by an accident because it was on good price. I received the laptop and it had a lot of scratches on the exterior as well as above the keyboard. I returned it to buy another laptop.

The keypad didn't work properly. Best Buy was very good about refunding my money, but the episode was inconvenient. Not sure why the refurbisher thought it in working condition.

The laptop has done everything I need it to. I have used Zoom and the battery last pretty good. Light weight and practical for me and my use. The best bang for your buck laptop.
