Mostly used for home office, replaced older computer. Have noticed the biggest difference between how fast everything loads. Working between several different programs is done with ease.

I am just getting to know windows 10. Having come from Vista (I did not like it) I am sure that this format will suit my needs. I operate a small service business. This will keep my client records, billing and books with plenty of space for any personal information needed. Thanks!!

I reviewed many and this one would satisfy my needs. Fast enough. I have to admit that I do go on sites that would prevent some type of virus, however, I made rounds to keep it safe as possible. One time about a couple a weeks after I bought it, the system takes me on a tour of chaos. It made me revert back to its original stage when I set it up. Erased my whole programs. So far so good. I use Chief Architect X10 for designs and usually encounter video problems. I've already updated drivers and I still get some errors. I restart program and it works again. Kind of annoying. I will keep updated to possible solution.

More Than Expected, But Not Perfect

I’ve built my last several computers so, when I picked this computer up, I wasn’t expecting miracles. I intended to use this Dell XPS as a media server and for simple games, but discovered it is faster and quieter than my latest build. To my young son’s dismay, I have this one under my desk and my (now) old system in our media room. What it has They system comes with a super fast Intel Core i7 7700 processor, 16GB of DDR4 SDRAM (upgradeable to 32GB), wireless AC, NIC, 1TB HDD, more USB ports than I’ll ever use, and the 64bit Windows10 OS. This combination far exceeded my expectations. I’ve ran Windows emulators in Linux and a variety of games on both OS’s with no lag whatsoever. What it doesn’t have A second CDRW drive would be nice as I still rip music CDs to a compiled CD. I know I’m probably one of a few with this complaint, but there is also no room to install a second drive. External USB drives are expensive and not as “clean” looking. On the subject of drives, for the money, I would’ve like to have seen a SSD. If not a large storage drive, just a 80GB for the OS and certain programs would make sense and make me happy. You’ll likely want to pick up a new keyboard and mouse since those provided are rather basic and nothing special. Worse yet… they’re wired! Who under 70 still uses a wired keyboard and mouse? I couldn’t give them away. For $50, you can pick up a much nicer wireless and ergonomic set. It was a slight disappointment to come with such useless peripherals. While this isn’t an issue with the computer itself, I think the MS Office and McAfee AV trial should not include the software already installed. If you don’t plan to pay for and use it, it’s just bloatware to be removed. Summary A summary of what I consider the best points of this system include it’s styling, Bluetooth 4.2, speed, and upgradeability. From an operational state, it took 42sec to completely reboot.

Fast, quiet. But, I don’t like the cd drive:it is light and flimsy and seems like it can break easily. Bad move on Dell for providing this cd drive!

Poor design places style over functionality

I originally purchased this computer with the plan of installing a graphics card to turn it into a gaming PC. Well, that did not work too well. The PC is designed to be trendy and compact. The power supply fan was dead out of the box, resulting in overheating. The design is poor as well. The power supply folds over the CPU area to save space. Airflow is very poor in this computer, resulting in overheating. After installing the graphics card, the computer's system fan sounded like a jet engine and it blew huge amounts of hot air. Overall, I would say that this computer is OK if all you want to do is basic tasks such as web browsing, however there are much better options for things like that. I ended up returning this computer and buying an HP Omen for about $150 more but it includes a GTX 1070, where as this XPS 8920 has integrated graphics.

The mouse does not wake up the computer when in sleep mode which is annoying. I tried the forum fixes with no success and Dell help has been non existent. Once on it works fine.

      - Billy, Thanks for your recent Dell desktop purchase. One of the things you can try with your new desktop to wake it from sleep mode is to press the spacebar on your keyboard. If this does not help to wake your computer from sleep mode you can always press the power button to wake your computer from sleep mode. We hope that these help your computer to be more responsive in the future. - Bryan Dell

My last Dell tower was also an XPS and this 8920 far exceeded my expectations in performance (except the included USB keyboard & mouse) For the price of this unit, Dell most definitely should have included a nice wireless keyboard & mouse but opted for very inexpensive ones. SAD! BUT, this XPS does come with some super "Bells & Whistles" though. It has a whopping 11 USB ports (2.0, 3.0, 3.1 front and rear), a CD/DVD player/burner, great AC WiFi & bluetooth capability, several extra slots for future upgrades, HDMI and DP ports (1 of each of those), surround and subwoofer LFE ports, headphone & microphone ports and more. It comes powered with Intel i7-7700 CPU processor which is super fast and 16GB of RAM which can be expandable up to 64GB. It has a new tech 'Optane' accelerated 1TB hard drive. You will have plenty of Speed. Power & Local Storage to tackle multiple tasks in quick order. It is also upgradable with the 4 extra slots which should carry you well into the near future easily. The OS is Windows 10 and also comes with a 12 mo. subscription of McAfee LiveSafe and MS Office 30 day trial. The exhaust cooling fan is located at the top of the tower and is extremely quiet! The Audio software is Waves MaxxAudio Pro and sounds great with the sound bar I am using. There is a latch/lever on the rear to easily open the chassis via a whole side panel for easy access to install upgrades, cleaning or repairs (Hopefully NO repairs will be necessary) IMO this computer will survive many years as my last Dell XPS did! I would recommend it with 4+ stars
