My current indoor grill was getting long in the tooth and the coating was starting to peel. I like the design and that both sides open flat. In this day and age of tap this and swipe that, I really like the knobs. Dialing in a temperature is an improvement over my last grill which was a 4-point scale. There’s also a green light that flashes on when the temperature is in zone. It has cooked all my foods evenly and leaves nice grill marks. A bonus is you have a knob for grilling and one for griddle. The grease catch seems a bit awkward as it’s like a small measuring cup. A cup that seems prone to being knocked over if you’re not careful. It’s good that the plates are removable, so they can be easily washed. The grilling plates do seem a little light/thin some I’m curious how the coating and the plates hold up over time. I wish the power cord was a little longer, so I could use this closer to under my range hood.

I really like this little grill by DeLonghi. It is attractive and well-made. The temperature controls are clear and easy to use. The grill plates can be easily removed and are dishwasher safe (tremendous plus). It can open all the way flat to use as a larger griddle surface. It has two sets of plates with it; flat griddle plates and slotted grill plates. They are very easy to swap. If I could do 4.5 stars, I would. It falls just short of a 5-star review for two reasons: 1. Since the back of the grill is an open design, when you lift the top, grease (or oil, or butter, depending on how you're cooking) will trickle down the back onto whatever surface you're cooking on. I think a lip to catch that stuff would have been a fairly easy solution. 2. It would greatly benefit from being about 30% larger. About most you could cook on it at one time in grill mode (not flipped open as a griddle) would be 4 burger patties or 2 paninis. And those take some effort to close the lid because there isn't much room for the angle at the back to allow it to close without trying to push stuff out the front. Those two complaints aside, this is a versatile grill that works very well. I'm glad we tried it.

    DO NOT BUY!

I needed a cook top when our new induction stove caught fire from a short! It was a special order and wold be a few weeks until the stove could be replaced. After looking at reviews, I decided to purchase the DeLonghi grill in spite of reviews. I have experienced past items where a negative review was due to user error and they performed fine. Not so with the DeLonghi, this grill heats to temp, then shuts off until the surface temp of the grill gets cool! It then heats again. Pancakes would get to a light tan after a few cycles then be so dry as to be inedible. Actually the same complaint I had read. I have tried everything to get some use out of it and am now beyond the return period-my fault! Do not buy this product-probably why it was clearance priced. Looks good, easy to set up but DOES NOT WORK.

I'm not too happy with it, I cooked some meat with it and it left it dry. I cant seem to get the right temperature to cook some good meat. So I'm basically just using it for sandwiches.

    DeLonghi Knocks Out Foreman!

It's a knockout for sure. I've had a few George Foreman grills over the past 20 years and they were OK. To make a hamburger or veggie burger they did the job but I could never make much more with them. They were always set to just one temperature and couldn't be adjusted. I tried making various other sandwiches using them but they always seemed overcooked in some areas and undercooked in others. This DeLonghi - Livenza 5 in 1 Grill let's me adjust the temperature to my liking and let's me use it to make more than just hamburgers. The grilling plates which can be used to make burgers, chicken, steaks, fish or paninis come off (for easy cleaning) and can be swapped out for griddle plates so I can make eggs or pancakes. The unit can be used in 5 different configurations such as a contact grill for paninis, full grill, full griddle, half griddle or combination half grill and half griddle. The 3 knobs are clearly marked so you know exactly the temperature for the method of cooking you desire. The handle is rubber coated so I never feel the heat of the grill. They included 2 drip cups to catch the grease and fat that drains off the food and a small spatula for flipping the food. When open, the grill takes up about 18 inches of space so in a small kitchen like mine, I have to move around the pots and pans to give me counter space but with the DeLonghi grill, I can finally ditch my frying pan and skillets. So far, I have grilled chicken breasts, hamburgers and made a panini and as soon as I finish writing this review, I think I'll make a grilled mac and cheese sandwich. Yum!

In the box you will find the main unit, along with the grill spatula, two drip pans, a pure flat grilling surface and a pair of traditional grilling plates. With that being said, yes you get those wonderful grill lines on your meats as well as those perfect burn marks on your panini. The contact group comes with two distinctive modes, one for making things like a panini and then one that’s temperature controlled for various types of meats or other foods. There are also different cooking temperatures that will cook different layers or cook to well done. I surely wish I had one of these back when I was in college, surely a foolproof way of making the meals correctly the first time. The contact grill has large rotating knobs with easy to read temperatures and settings. It also includes the surface and ready lights to let you know when the grill surface is at the right temperature as indicated by a green LED located on the left side of the grill. I’ve used this product for about four days now to make things from eggs to pancakes and for my daughter's event I was able to make grilled fish tacos, and steaks. I have to say I’m very impressed with this product and would highly recommend it to my friends and family because of the overall design and use of the product. From the ergonomic handles and the counter space saving design this small cooking device definitely has it all.
