Destiny Finally on PC

The PC version of Destiny 2 is without a doubt the definitive version of the game. Beautiful graphics, silky smooth frame rate and the ability to aim with a mouse.
While this time around Destiny does a better job at telling a story some of the design decisions they made are questionable. PVP matchmaking remains the broken mess it has always been. Joining and dropping fireteams can cause you to miss out on loot which is also extremely annoying.
While it is not without its problems it is still a good game and all of these things could be fixed if Bungie/Activision are motivated enough to do so.

Anyone that isn't familiar with Destiny might not know that the base game is quite enjoyable, but remarkably short. As much polish as the story missions have, the bulk of the gameplay here is decidedly MMO-oriented, with missions, instances and raids designed for 3 to 6 people.
Destiny is very much a game you buy to play with people you know. Trying to play with pubs is a nightmare waiting to happen, as communication and coordination are vital in raid scenarios.
There are a number of competitive multiplayer modes ranging from simple deathmatch to capture-and-hold and others. I do have to admit, online PvP is quite well balanced and rarely feels as if you've simply been stomped on. This is in contrast to games like CoD WW2 and Battlefront 2, where in-game purchases can shoot you up the leaderboards.
Destiny 2 for PC is buttery-smooth on modern hardware, and will run on lower spec machines just as well as it does on console - but having a decent rig will provide you with excellent dynamic lighting and a constant 60-fps.
We have to discuss paid DLC - it's on the way and there will be LOADS of it. Anyone that played Destiny on console will already be familiar with the constant stream of new missions and raids that will come - each with a price tag. Much like true-MMOs such as World of Warcraft, if you don't buy the latest update, you're going to be left out in the cold with nothing to do.
So, if you're keen an a RP-lite 1st person shooter and have a decent number of friends also willing to plop down the cash, Destiny 2 is a worthwhile buy. The only thing keeping it from being a 5-star release are the short base game and the fact that the first paid DLC will already be a requirement come next month. Sure, console players had 3 months to kill in the base game, but PC players will only have 1.

I am enjoying myself in Destiny 2. It has a lot of good things that in my opinion out weight the bad or annoying things you find in games now days.
The PC interface is the same as consoles, so it is a little weird to navigate BUT you can use a controller in the game also and for PC it has both config options built in for mouse/keyboard and controllers and that is nice if you are into that, so it is a good compromise there.
The gameplay is great and nothing has changed here when it comes to shooters and for me that is awesome.
For PC, you can tell that some of the skins that were used in the game are not as high as other PC games, it does not surprise me since this is a multi platform title. The game still looks great and the things that need to look great look great. I just wish there was a way to download an HD pack for PC, but what are you going to do.
The rest of the game. The story mission I enjoyed a lot as well as the side missions. The side missions compliment the main mission a lot and add hrs to the story mode if you are into that. A downside is that it is still too short for a story mode and it feels super short. The cut scenes are amazing and I enjoyed each one of them and for me that was a plus.
Once you are done with the main story then the world opens for different types of missions that add a little bit of story but not much. You already had public quests and they are still available and seems to add endless dailies to the game. Around the map you will also find mini dungeons and patrol quests that reset every so often. But all this content is repeatable and it could get old fast for some people.
The strikes and raids will also unlock at different parts thru the game. The strikes are fun for me and it is a fun activity you can do with your friends. I wish there were more now, but they will come as more DLCs get added to the game. The same with raids, to access them you need to have a certain gear level.
Now, the DLC thing. I wish we would have more content to start off the game instead of waiting for a DLC we need to purchase. I am totally ok with expansions but I also like content but I understand that between PvE and PvP in the game, right now, there are multiple hours of content. But how many players engage in all of the available content or have interest in it before the next DLC ?
I know I am not one of them but I do enjoy me some PvE and the end game content is pretty minimal and by December I will have to spend moar moneyz if I want to play the next available content... IT is good hours of fun!... for a price.
Just keep that in mind.

I have played this game since release and maxed out my light for all 3 characters in the expansion. I've pretty much done it all, raids, prestige, etc. The game is very smooth, and very fun to play. The main issue with this game is the content. Bungie has addressed a lot of the issues, but it is still nowhere near D1. I hope that in the future it'll get better, but right now after hitting max light there is not much to do other than grind out loot. TBH, none of the loot is that memorable, some of the exotics are cool, but most are not to die for.

This game is more like 3.5 stars for me but that is not an option, so I bumped it to 4, beware. It's a good game with really nice graphics and pretty good game play.
Pros: Plays nice on a fast PC or console, fun with friends, very good weapon play and selection, pretty decent story/quest mode, a couple of new features in this version that weren't in the first release, plus Blizzard uses server versus some of the peer-to-peer model it had in version 1, no crazy cheating yet, not laggy.
Cons: It takes 4-8 hours of playing to unlock the multiplayer mode, It's not very challenging in story mode, multiplayer could be great but it's a bit random, it's really not a game for a person that might only have limited time for a gaming session, the story mode isn't long, and it all kind of seems like it could have been quick DLC for version 1.
No matter, it's still pretty fun. It's easy to get $30-40 value out of it in a week or so, going to be hard to quantify the full price and any micro transactions in game.
I'm kind of a fan, just not 100% convinced that the content is going to match the dollars if you already owned Destiny. For sure buy it if you like shooters and you do not own Destiny. I'll recommend it, but it's kind of a maybe and not a solid recommend. Some of my battlefield teammates did their refund 3-5 levels in and abandoned the game. So I am a little torn, but for me I had some credits and it was cheap.

PC gamers where left out on playing Destiny 1 because it was only released on consoles. Bungie has redeemed themselves with releasing a PC title that surpasses the console versions. The PC version has the frame rate unlocked to be at 60 or more, true 4K support, high FOV slider options: console 75, PC over 100, better texture resolution, and anti aliasing. The game runs pretty smooth even with slower cards list at the minimum specs. The game play is solid with an improved story and balance from the first game. If you are a Destiny 1 veteran, you will notice game mechanic changes and less of a grind which does reduce replay-ability.

Let me start by saying that this game feels great to play and if you have a regular squad to roll with is a great way to hang out and spend the time. The game isn’t perfect but improves on almost everything that I disliked from the first Destiny.
If you didn’t like the first one because of the grind. This one fixes that. This is a better more improved version of he first Destiny. It looks great, the shooting and moving around feels great, and the story is easier to follow even if it still is nonsense.
My biggest gripe is that there is no match making for the Strikes or raids. That is done through a clunky phone app or on your computer. It only took me two to three weeks to blow through the games content.
I’d say it’s worth the full price even better if you can get it on sale. Just know that it is more Destiny, an improvement but Destiny 2.0 so to speak

Destiny 2 starts with a very well constructed campaign and has really beautiful environments that the game likes to show off early on. The story is pretty straightforward but works well enough. The campaign is pretty short though. The multi-player is a fundamentally fun mode, especially when playing with friends, but suffers the same issue with a lack of depth and variety of objectives, which means you will probably get a good 20 hours of good gameplay out of this game, but it will gate stale and repetitive after that.

I was a big fan of Destiny. Played the game all the way through on PS3 and then again on PS4. I think Destiny 2 is even better and I am playing on PC this time. The game runs smooth as butter and is absolutely gorgeous on older hardware, medium settings (i7 2600k and R9 270x). Attention to details is obvious and the story is fantastic. A must have game!

This game is the most fun with other people. If you plan to take advantage of that then i would recommend you buy this game. You can have a lot of fun with just this version, but since this is one of those dread games as a service it is always evolving and if you plan to keep up you will have to pay more. Just a warning for those that may not be up to date on the latest news. Im a bit bummed that i bought this on release for full price and it went to 30 bucks a month later but that was no fault of the game, if you can get this for around that price its a good time and will be well worth it.

So this been has been fun. Played for a few weeks and I finally reached end game. End game is weird because it's not based on your character level but gear light level. However, higher gear level doesn't make you more powerful. So if you have a level 300 light weapon, you'll do about the same damage as a noob with a level 50 light weapon. The light level cap is geared toward raid requirement but it does almost nothing for you in terms of power. That's probably because this game is fps first, mmo 2nd.

Destiny 2, unlike Destiny, is finally on PC and performance and graphics are great. The game is similar to Destiny as a first-person pseudo-MMORPG, and to be fully enjoyed requires friends who also play as there is end-game emphasis on clans, strikes and raids that require good coordination. If you buy the game with the intent of single-player only, spend your money elsewhere as the campaign is relatively short 3-6hrs and lackluster/repetitive compared to other single-player games.

There’s a lot to love with destiny 2. The game looks and feels great on PC. I played the previous installment on Xbox and the pc version graphics frame rates etc are all excellent. Unfortunately bungie forgot to carry over a lot of the quality of life improvements from the taken king and iron lord expansion. Hopefully we don’t have to wait for an expansion to get those improvements back.

Destiny is finally on the PC. The gameplay is smooth as you would imagine, the scenery is beautiful as you should expect from a Bungie game, but the content and things to do is lacking.
Unless you wait it out until they release more content and expansions there will be much more things to do like in Destiny 1, but you would also have to spend money for that full experience.

Went into this game not knowing anything. Haven't played the first one, so I wasn't sure what to expect.
PROS:
Game is well optimized. Gameplay is smooth.
CONS:
Lack of content, the endgame is nonexistent. The social aspect of the game of the game is nonexistent, you have to use Bungie's forum/third party sites to get groups (aka Fireteams) going. There is no public chat in the game. There's a player hub where you can see other players...but you cannot talk to them. Well, you technically can, but you have to adjust a setting that by default is disabled.
From what I've read, some quality of life features that they implemented in the first Destiny did not make over to this Destiny. Theyv'e removed features that was in the first game just to implement it as microtransactions. The game has been dumbed down.
They're trying so hard to balance the game around PvP (which runs on a P2P network, where other players have DDoS other players), that it's affecting how fun the game is.
Meh.

The mechanics in this game are solid and while it is similar to the first Destiny it's new on PC and I much prefer it here.
The leveling up process is relatively fast although there's only one path so multiple characters may become repetitive. It's also pretty easy. Not quite a cake walk but you won't find major challenges until the end. That said it's quite satisfying as you learn to play. I'm a major FPS player for several decades now, even some amateur competition, and I've still died a couple times leveling up and end game activities more so.
At the end of the day though, it's not the gameplay that lost this game a star; content is where it's lacking. Now, this is a review of it's launch state and they already have content improvements planned. But as of writing this there isn't a ton to do in the end game. If you're a super high level player type to power to max level and max out on gear you'll be done pretty quickly right now.
The game is very broad but not very deep. Luckily, with such solid core mechanics and systems this should be solved relatively easily by Bungie. The game has still earned many hours of my gameplay time and I've had fun playing it so I'd still recommend it.

I have spent over 100 hours on the PS4 version of Destiny 2 and just wanted to give the PC version a try. WOW! There is no discussion about this, the pc version of this game is the best,,, by far. The frames boost. The field of view is so much larger (if your GPU can handle it) and it really makes a difference. I won't be going back to the PS4 version. My only complaint is that I have already purchased the DLC for both upcoming expansions for the PS4 and now I will have to purchase them again for the PC. But, overall, this game is made for the PC.

Destiny 2 is a great game starting out with an amazing story and campaign. I would argue that this iteration does not have much suitability as Destiny 1 due to the end game finishing too soon where Destiny 1 had better appeal to MMO players, this will have more appeal to FPS players. Still a great game.

Destiny 2 has the fluid movement/combat one would expect from a AAA game and decently impressive visuals. However, once the shock and awe of playing a new game are over and you have reached max level, there is not much to do. You have a plethora of side quests, treasue hunts, and public events to hold you for a time but these become repetitive. You end up falling into the rut of logging in once a week and completing the weekly quests. There is not much depth to the game and that becomes apparent fast. I enjoy games where you get gear and upgrade said gear/ get new gear. However, Destiny 2 misses the mark on quality content to sustatin a thriving player base and as stated in the review summary. Real old, real fast.
