    Best DMC yet

This is an phenomenal game. I like to classify this as an arcade/shooter game. The graphics are awesome, and the game play is really fun. The story line is good too, although pretty new. I was a bit turned off at first since the main protagonist was Nero and not Dante. But hey, I came to find out that Nero is pretty awesome too. Kind of like Raiden and Snake in MGS2 and MGS4. The mentor is always cooler than the apprentice. The direction of the game keeps you interested, and the intense action shooting is still great. It's not as much of a button masher like DMC2 was, but now you have the Devil Bringer arm to use with Nero so that you can create some awesome combos. Traditionally following the DMC series you get to upgrade and learn new techniques as you collect red orbs throughout the game. The background and visuals of this game are well above average and is pretty pleasant to look at. The only issue I had with the game was that you would have to back track sometimes and if you go the wrong direction and get lost, you have to run all the way back to the intended destination. Regardless, the game should not be overlooked alone for that reason. After the fun boss battles, you get new weapons. And as you get further in the game, the plot thickens. It's hard not to remain interested in the game. Everyone should at least try the game out. I highly recommend it to all. If you're a DMC fan already that you won't be disappointed. If you aren't a DMC fan currently, you could very well become one. This is one of those games where after you defeat the boss, you set your controller down and yell out at the TV screen "I owned you!, Whats up now?!?" followed by a rock solid fist pump so strong there might be recoil. It's a great sense of accomplishment. No joke.

    Good follow to DMC3

DMC jumps into next gen and did a good job. The graphics are great and the action is as intense as ever. If you've played other DMC games, you know what to expect here. Controls are responsive and simple during the Nero stages, making combos seem repetitive. It was more fun to play as Dante and switching weapons and styles on the fly. It's too bad that you only play as Dante very late in the game, and it's just Nero's stages backwards. The difficulty varies on what difficulty you play as. It's easy until you unlock the harder difficulties, like the previous games. The story is predictable and nothing great. The camera sometimes works against you but it's not too bad. Overall it's a good game action game.

Not as good as part three, but better than par two

The graphics are good, and the levels vary in style nicely from blizzards, to jungles. Different textures look varied too, but it is nothing that amazing. Many of the standards of the series are here, the style, the crazy action, the ability to customize your skillset, and the blades & bullets combat. If you enjoyed previous installments in the series like part one and part three, you will enjoy this one, mostly. One notable part is Nero's sword which revs almost like a motorcycle giving it more power. There are several memorable bosses you will encounter both as Dante and Nero with very different styles of attack, which is great. The one glaring exception to those bosses is the final one who can only be defeated using a certain technique which runs contrary to the history of the series wherein you could use any one of multiple attack strategies to defeat the bosses. Beyond that, you will be happy. The biggest problem of this game is the length and predictability of the levels. This is spoiler-free. You are forced to start as Nero on one side of an island, when you reach the other end you are forced to use Dante to return to the original starting point meaning you know exactly where you are and what is waiting for you. IN PREVIOUS INSTALLMENTS of the series many areas were organized like a wheel with spokes, you would go to a common area and enter various sub-areas to gain access to other areas which brought many surprises and various bosses who may or may not return without warning and new tricks. IN THIS INSTALLMENT, that is not the case, the surprise is removed for most of the exploration and boss fights because the maps and patterns do not change much. There are no surprises in the Dante half, which is really disappointing. Backtracking was part of other games in the series, but those had modifications to the original levels to make them feel fresh and unexpected, it is the most disappointing part of this title. There were only a few moments where I was afraid I would die, which isn't acceptable for me since I want to have to fail once or twice before winning a game. This becomes especially evident with Nero's arm which renders everyone but bosses helpless allowing you to smash the enemy soldiers into the dirt one by one without any danger to yourself. There are different difficulty modes, but those must be unlocked, in Japanese tradition. In previous devil may cry games you could not return skills previously purchased, this has obviously changed due to the character change halfway through, but it makes the strategy of character creation feel shallow. Also, the different styles used by Dante are reduced to moves executed used by one button instead of affecting all aspects of the controls such as speed or attack power. Overall it was enjoyable, but a little disappointing. If you enjoyed the series, pick this up, or at least rent it. If you are looking for great action, hold out for God of War 3 or try Ninja Gaiden Sigma.

It keeps getting better and better

This game was a must buy when I first knew of its pre-release. I own the first 3 and enjoyed the 2nd and 3rd ones; the first one was very repetitive and annoying. Dante has always been a carefree/fearless character that makes you laugh with his arrogant humor and I was upset to have to use a different character for this newest title. However, Nero definitely lived up to the expectations. His Devil Bringer is ridiculous, especially when the enemy is stunned...he does extra damage and makes up for the cheap shots most bosses give you. He has a very similar persona to Dante and it has been interesting to see them become more and more respectful of each other as the game rolls on -then the plot twist- I can definitely notice the upgrade in graphics, moving to the next gen systems. The back grounds are even more detailed as before and the detail in gameplay action is improved. Capcom always does a great job in adding puzzles to their games (Onimusha and Resident Evil) ; this one has a few that helps mix up gameplay and extra thinking. The story line brings some twists and turns while keeping the straight forward devil hunting purpose. Fighting bosses is a big thing for me because it challenges the skills you learn in the game, most if not all of the bosses do this. You fight a boss more frequently in the game as well. The only problem is there aren't as a variety of bosses like the other DMCs but it still does the job (you fight more of the main people in the game rather than just monsters) This game is a must buy for Capcom and action/adventure lovers. Ive always been a fan of the series and hope there is more to come. Im well into the game but still have a ways to go. Get it!

    So So Game

The first problem is the 20-30 minutes of installation time needed in the beginning. Then the onscreen menu instructions are terrible. It's ridiculous that you have to go through several menu items just to save your game progress. Until I figured out how to save the game, I replayed missions unnecessarily...and got close to the point of quitting the game and never playing again. Additionally, Nero and Dante are slow. Why can you run faster in the demo then on the real game? The game becomes very repetitive when you keep seeing the same creatures over and over again. Enough! I do like the boss' though.

I am a DMC fan from way back and have all the games. I still havn't beat DMC3 yet.....lol.....that game was to darn hard. Now this one is the bomb! Nero is cute and cool and Dante is still the best demon slayer ever. I am now gaming as Dante and was blown away when Trish made the scene! It gets no better than that. Dante's mouth is as smart as ever and Nero is just as bad. The game play is fun and intense. The controls great. I bow to the makers of DMC4 and hope they stay on track with DMC5. The only thing that bothers me and its such a tiny thing is the camera angle. Some parts of the game are a bit trying........but still fun!

The first thing that you will notice when starting this game is the music. When a company goes all out to produce an excellent soundtrack, you know quality was the #1 priority. The graphics are amazing and the cinematics will leave your jaw dropped at times. The bosses are original and fun to fight. The puzzles in this game will keep your mind sharp as you have to remember details and places, if you can't than I highly recommend a guide or online walkthrough. I played Devil May Cry 1 but stayed away from 2 and 3 due to its apperent lack of originality from its predecessors but I am so glad I picked this up. Worth every penny.

This is the best in the Devil May Cry series so far. The sound and graphics are absolutely amazing and the action is furiously entertaining. It's still a slasher of course, but the slashing in this installment is way better than any previous in the series. Although playing with Nero is way more fun than playing with Dante. I hate to say it, but it's true. This one is also some hot new female characters and story twists. If you're a DMC fan, you have to pick this one up.

    Interesting storyline, somewhat repetitive moves

If you liked the previous DMCs, you'll definitely like this one. Using high definition capabilities of the PS3/Xbox 360, this game is definitely a game worth purchasing just for the visuals as well as the moves you can do in the visuals. Pros: -Smooth transitions between levels -Challenging gameplay -Moves you do are awesome, goes as far as your imagination for the combos but the moves are fixed -Boss battles are all different and innovative -Can play as Dante -Great visuals and cinematics -Special attacks Cons: -Since the moves are fixed but you can combo them together, it gets repetitive eventually. -Majority of the locked challenges are button mashing or speed based-wish they had more than just that. -Love story could have been elaborated more rather than just chase chase chase.

    Devil May Cry 4

No wonder why sometimes the game can get really hard specially for those not familiarized with the Devil May Cry saga. But despite this, DMC 4 continues to be outstanding and excells as an action/adventure game. It has really nice graphics, the gameplay is just off the hook, with amazing combos, killing all the foes is just exciting and fun!!. I believe there are around 20 or 22 Levels, so it's quite long and some bosses are really tough, but nothing an experienced DMC gamer can't handle, and if you are new to the series, there's an easier setting for you to beat the game and then play it again on the harder one and see if you got what it takes to beat it again. Personally, I am really happy with what this game offers and delivers as a both Cinematic and Interactive experciene. A best buy for those who love real action/adventure games!! A+

Although this may not be the best title in the series it is still arguably one of the best games that has been released for the PS3. the graphix for this game are beautiful with breathtaking backrounds and wonderful attention to detail. the game plays much like those in prevous installments and is intense and intuitive as ever, if you have never played any of the prevous games in the series have no fear because not only does the game have the back story from the other games available to read built in, you really don't need it to be able to follow the story, the only downfall that I can see is that the game doesn't really give you time to learn the controlls so if you are inexperienced in this type of game I would suggest that you start on the easiest difficulty though even that may prove trying.

This game is a must buy for the PS3. I had never played a Devil May Cry game before and this game is still fantastic. The graphics are amazing, Dante and Nero both are very fun protagonists to play as, and the numerous boss fights keeps the game interesting!!! It is very fun and enjoyable at every turn!!! During the 20 min game install (the load times are faster during gameplay due to this) a video recaps all the characters so that the player isn't out of the loop when it comes to knowing the general plot which is a very nice added feature. This game is great in every category!!

well the graphics are good and gameplay is okay but as a dmc fanatic i dont believe it lives up to true dmc players expectations its a great game for people who have never played and i believe thats what they were going for when they made the game but this game doesnt compare to dmc3 at all the things u can do on dmc3 are sick combos and gameplay all and all its okay i just think they shouldnt have made such i hype about it i mean i bought the ps3 system just for this game and was totally let down nero is just so boring he cant do much of any thing and dantes gameplay isnt as good either they changed his combos and they just arent as smooth as they were on dmc3 and the enemys on the game are way to easy and boring they should go back to the faster gameplay

    Best Playstation 3 Game

    Posted .

This game is amazing. Handsdown the best game out for the PS3 so far. One of the best parts about it, is it has it's own achievement system so you don't miss out if you buy this over the 360 version unless you really want a reason to up your gamer score. The graphics are unbelievable. At the end of some levels you get a gorgeous cut scene with plenty of action that just blows your mind. Thankfully you do get to play as Dante as well as the new character Nero, who is probably the best counterpart to Dante they could have created. If you're a fan of the series and have already watched the anime that was released in Japan, you'll see a great link to the different stories. If you were a Devil May Cry fan on the PS2, this game is a must own. I personally prefer this version over the 360 because it was originally planned to be a PS3 only release and is better set up on the PS3 than on the 360. However, it is not worth it to go out and get a PS3 just for this game unless you don't own either.

Best next gen action game yet but...

This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.

The game has great graphics and great gameplay for action fans. The difficulty levels are nice also. In higher difficulties, enemy placement would change and some enemies would have more moves than in the earlier difficulties. This keeps the game feeling fresh for multiple play sessions. The issues I have are the repetitive bosses and levels. Halfway through the game, you end up backtracking and fighting the same bosses again. On the bright side, you are using a different character who was the main character in previous games. The combo system, or lack thereof, is a downer also. In the 3rd iteration of the series, you could basically form your own combos with the use of a variety of weapons. In this game, the main character only has one weapon, and the secondary character (Dante) only has several melee and several guns to use. Overall, it is a solid game with satisfying difficulty levels and the addition of throws to the series s nice.

devil may cry 4 is a not a game that you would be playing everyday, but probably about twice a week. but the great thing is the upgrades. there are so many upgrades that you have to go through the whole game to get every single one, and the game is really long. i'd say its about a 10 hour game nonstop. there 20 missions with some really cool sub-missions. there's also a score list that give syou a rating of how you did at the end of every mission. the main great thing though are the cool videos and boss battles. the bosses are sometimes really huge, and they get really, really hard later in the game. finally, theres the sixaxis. the sixaxis is used for changing the camera angles which get to be a little fun. overall, this is a really great game that you can play pretty often.

if you want to ge tthe best game ever, then this is not it. dont get me wrong, this game is pretty nice with great gameplay but i really think there aren't much attacks. in the beginning they get pretty cool, but you soon get bored of them and you just dont even want to attack anymore. but the upgrades are pretty cool, and theres also a score that tells you how you did in every level. this is a pretty good game, but not the best you'll finf in stores.

I have looked into many site, and I have also played Devil May Cry 1, 2, & 3 and they were all great, some better than others, but great. So far the graphics and plot seem really exceptional. I am absolutly looking foward to the release. And for those who have never heard of or played any of the DMC games, this one is supposed to allow newcomers to come in and love the game too. It is also great that this game is on the PS3 and the Xbox 360. Hope you like this game.

DMc is classic, old-school, combo-lovin' fun. The Human difficulty and Automatic combo options create an accessability that is open to gamers of all skill levels. The item collection, powerup options, and high score leaderboards make for some serious replayability. My favorite game ever is Castlevania: SoTN. The entire time I was playing DMC4, it seemed sort of like a spiritual successor. Castle Fortuna is almost as fun to hack and slash through as Dracula's castle in Castlevania. A must-buy for action/adventure fans.
