Customers have good things to say about the engaging story, fun gameplay loop, and the wide variety of Digimon available, with many citing nostalgic appeal. The improved battle system and Digivolution mechanics are also frequently praised. However, some customers point out translation issues and a lack of English audio. A few also mention that the game's difficulty may not be challenging enough for all players.

A Joy for fans of the Digimon Franchise and RPG's

If you grew up with Digimon and like turn-based RPG's then you should absolutely pick up this game. Though there are only about 250 playable Digimon, the developers took care in their selection. You'll be able to access most of the Digimon used by the protagonists of the first five Digimon series, not to mention the Royal Knights and Seven Demon Lord Digimon. The 3D models are also really well done.
This is a Digimon Story game similar in tone to how the Digimon World games were handled on the DS. For fans of Digimon World Dawn/Dusk, the purple haired female protagonist, Sayo, makes a little cameo in this game.
This particular Digimon game has a teen rating and is specifically targeted towards the older fans of the franchise. The story is darker in tone to what one would expect of say a Pokemon game, but the story does very well in playing with the strengths of the concepts of Digimon being comprised of data and centering around the virtual social networking world known as EDEN. The first ten chapters are more of a build-up that develops the setting and the characters and suddenly the second half of the game becomes very exciting and involved with it comes to the plot.
The gameplay is very enjoyable and encourages you to control many different Digimon and experiment with their digi-volutions. The combat is a turn-based style of play giving you a maximum of 3 digimon that you can have out at a time that is not unlike that of Final Fantasy X or the Digimon World games for DS. Each Digimon can have 1-2 signature moves along with additional move slots that can be switched out from a pool of up to 20 moves that a Digimon can learn before having to replace them.
Overall the game does very well with blending the plot, gameplay and concept of Digimon together to create a very enjoyable game. On the PS4 you'll be able to enjoy a very smooth framerate and high resolution, but the vita version is cheaper and the original platform with minimal technical issues.
At times the translation is awkward because it is a very literal translation from the Japanese but its not unplayable. I do wish there was more time spent on the quality check of the script but for the most part, it's decent and you won't lose your enjoyment of the game from it.
Overall a very fun experience and an absolutely must-have for fans of Digimon. Digimon Story: Cyber Sleuth is the best Digimon game I have ever played.

This game is a lot of fun, it has a feel that reminds me of final fantasy x with the way the maps look. There is a ton of characters to unlock too.

This game is an interesting blend of a previous Digimon games (specifically Dusk/Dawn) with a .hack// kind of story line.
The graphics look great, and the scenery as well. I love the game play, even if dungeons get a bit tedious. The combat system is turn based, which stats affect. I love the improvements to the Digi Farm and the fact you can have up to 11 Digimon with you at one time. It makes building combat advantages crazy easy.
My main problem with the game is that it is English Sub, which I didn't know going into, but doesn't really affect game play at all. A lot of the dialogue isn't spoken anyways. Also, there is a LOT of talking/cut scenes on missions. It seems like every time you change zones, you have to sit through another five-ten minutes of dialogue.
Over all though, if you're a fan of Digimon, I highly recommend. This game is super cute and fun and I killed a lot of time playing it.

This game is just so addicting. I grew up with Digimon so when I got my PS4 and heard there was a Digimon game, this was the first game I bought. So far I spent around 40 hours just exploring and playing around with all the different combinations of Digimon and their evolution and I haven't even got past the 50% mark of the story. The gameplay is like that of Pokemon where you walk around and find Digimon but instead of catching them, you scan them and when you get to 100% you can convert them into a Digimon (Finding and scanning them don't take very long). The story is very engaging and there are some very shocking parts that will just make you say WTF. I totally recommend this to anyone that grew up with Digimon and wants gameplay similar to Pokemon but on console.

Definitely glad I took the plunge and picked this game up.
Pros:
Excellent techno soundtrack
Engaging main story
Complex but addictive evolution and leveling system
Retro turn based combat system
Mostly likable cast of characters
Runs smoothly, no crashes or bugs
Story specific side quests
Cons:
No English audio (It doesn't bother me, but it should be noted)
Some translation issues, weird dialogue at times
A high number of fetch quests (in addition to the story specific quests)
Overall this game is a must buy for any JRPG fan.

Just like the header states it doesn't get any better than that, one of the masterminds behind Persona is what made a lot of this game. This is a big leap forward, Digimon characters have now matured but even so that it might not be for kids anymore. So in short any digi destined must buy this game. Also.....
Where the **** is the DLC?

I was a little hesitant to buy the game at first knowing that the language was in Japanese and that the subtitles were in English, but I went ahead and bought it. No regrets! I don't mind it at all even though I thought I would. I've had it for a weekend and everything about it is great. It's easier to digivolve that previous games and the game play has a mix of easy and challenging parts.

Imagine playing a Digimon-themed version of Megaman Battle Network with the battle system from Final Fantasy X and you'll have a pretty solid idea of what this game offers. A must have for fans of Digimon and classic turn-based RPG's.

If you like traditional RPGs in the vein of Persona or FF, get this game. It has a wide range of digimon to collect and fuse, and is just a joy for any fan of Digimon who grew up with the cartoons.

great game!!
I have already play 50 hours so far
there are more than 200 digimon and you can have three digimon in a battle.
The only down side for is that the main character is no Tai !!!
