I purchased this product to get the best picture from my TV possible and was more than satisfied with the results.
The program presented is very informative regarding the technical aspects of HD. It's not overly technical and provided some good information about the technology to help guide me in my future purchases.
The test patterns were helpful in helping me to setup the best picture. Overall, I was satisfied with the results. There were two points I was not particularly thrilled with. The video uses a pause icon to indicate when it would be a good time to pause the presentation in order to make your adjustments. However, I found the icon wasn't used at the best points. The menu allows you to go straight to the test patterns in order to make your adjustments, however the dialogue that accompanies this option does not fully explain what you need to tweak and what the optimal result should be.
It's easier to watch to watch the entire program and make adjustments as you go along. As long as you can follow directions, it is easy to follow along and perform the adjustments to your set.

This disk was very easy to understand. The quality of the images and patterns was very good. However, certain settings were not discussed. For example, proper setting of the LCD backlight and the color gain settings were omitted. I expected more from a Blue-Ray version of this disk. Overall, it is a good disk for a videophile.

IM VERY DISAPPOINTED IN THIS WORTHLESS BLUE RAY DISK. THERE IS NOTHING EASY ABOUT THIS AS IT SAYS ON THE PACKAGE. I WASTED A VERY FRUSTRATING HOUR ON THIS P.O.S. MY TV LOOKS WORSE NOW THAN IT DID BEFOR I STARTED MESSING WITH IT. THIS DISK GIVES A WHOLE LOT OF INFO ON PLUGGING IN YOUR TV AND HOOKING UP SPEAKERS BUT DOES ALMOST NOTHING TO HELP WITH ADJUSTING COLORS TINT BACK LIGHT AND SO ON. I BOUGHT THIS TO HELP DIAL IN MY REDS ON MY HD TV AND THEY LOOK WORSE IF ANYTHING. IT ALSO GIVES YOU ABOUT 6 TEST PATTERNS AND WHILE YOUR LOOKING AT THE TEST PATTERNS IT SAYS NOTHING ABOUT WHAT YOUR SUPPOSED TO BE ADJUSTING. I DIDNT KNOW IF I SHOULD ADJUST COLOR TINT SHARPNESS OR ANYTHING AT ANY TIME. VERY CONFUSING AND FRUSTRATING. SO UNLESS YOUR A WHIZ WITH ELECTRONICS AND ALL THE TECHNICAL TALK THAT GOES ALONG WITH THE VIDEO DONT BUY THIS. I FELT AS IF I NEEDED TO GO TO COLLEGE FOR A YEAR OR TWO JUST TO SOMEWHAT UNDERSTAND WHAT THE GUY IS TALKING ABOUT. NOTHING IN THIS VIDEO IS EXPLAINED THE WAY AN AVERAGE PERSON WOULD BE ABLE TO UNDERSTAND IT. IF YOUR GONNA PUT A TEST PATTERN UP YOU SHOULD AT LEAST SAY WHAT IS SUPPOSED TO BE ADJUSTED WHILE THE TEST PATTERN IS ON THE SCREEN. DO NOT BUY THIS P.O.S. DISK UNLESS YOU WANT TO GET P.O.'D.

This disc goes very deep into the history and evolution of HDTV and how and why the we've arrived at the current viewing standards. It does not however, go into nearly as much detail when it comes to describing the tests that need to be done and the steps to take to calibrate your TV. I sat through somewhat grueling narration on the history of video standards only for the important calibration steps to fly by with very little explanation. There are basic tests and avdanced tests, and there are no directions at al for the advanced steps. After all was said and done I adjusted the brightness, contrast and sharpness of my tv. The color test was kind of cryptic, and you can forget the advanced tests, they're just a bunch of test patterns with no instructions.

This DVD gives too much information to fast. You need to go back and forth, just to understand what to do with the settings, and believe me that takes forever. The DVD throws superfluous information, only prudent to the people that made it, trying to shine a light on what they know. If the patterns had a voice-over that told what to do, it would make a lot more sense. Usable information is mixed with historical data, and that leaves you to sort it out. I used a digital voice recorder to record instructions so that I could listen as I made use of the test patterns. The problem was that I still had so much techno babble, that I was still confused. Total waste of money. Oh by the way...the Monster calibration disk is no good either.

If you own a 1080P TV and Blu-Ray player this disc is invaluable in getting the most out of your HDTV. The introduction explains why you need to calibrate your TV and then gives the directions and test patterns to get the best quality from your set. If you got your new TV home took it out of the box, turned it on and thought it was great, you will be amazed at how much better it looks after using this disc.
