    A beautiful remaster

There isn't much new aside from it being much prettier and the inclusion of a soundtrack remade with a live orchestra. So if you've played it already then you might be a little disappointed with a lack of new content. I'm still giving it five stars because it is a beautiful and fun game. I do wish it had a separate trophy list. The Hardened Edition with the Steelbook is one of the coolest steelbooks I have seen.

Do you miss old school beat'em up games? If so this is the game for you. A classic arcade style beat'em up that is a breath of fresh air in today's typical gaming environment. The art style and music greatly compliment the game and add to its own unique flair. The game is a bit standard and repeats itself at first, but it truly shines when you unlock multiplayer and can enjoy yourself with friends. The game has different modes arena with pvp, a labyrinth which is a mish-mash nonstop style of fighting through dungeons, and adventure mode which pits you against the stages classic arcade style. You level up, find lots of loot, and continue on. Every time you complete the missions you unlock new artwork, higher difficulty sessions, and more blessings for your character. Well worth the time and investment. Multiple classes, and lots to do.

Gorgeous Remake of a PS3 Game

First impressions are really good. I am a big fan of this game since I played the first version on the PS3 and this update looks stunning on a UHD TV with a PS4 Pro. The touchpad makes the interactivity with the background a lot more fun. There is an Orchestral soundtrack that is lovely, and the Battle Hardened Edition I got comes in a nice Steelbook with some cool character skill cards. Also comes with all DLC. The game is amazing, well worth every penny to play this new version.

This game originally came out on the ps3 and ps vita.(those versions are also getting the pro upgrades through software updates) However, now it looks even better and has a new recorded soundtrack to make the already fantastic music in the game sound even better. It is a great old arcade style game with fun rpg leveling for you to choose skills to obtain and upgrade so you can make your own builds of characters. To top it off it has both couch co op and online co op so you can play with friends and family, and you can access both simultaneously. It is also compatible with the ps3 and ps vita versions for those who would like to go back and play with newcomers or those who have bought it for ps4. This game also allows you to upload your characters and download them between all three platforms i mentioned before.

The future of beat ‘em ups!

Let’s just start by saying this is a beautiful package that comes with some nice goodies. The game itself is also a work of art, just gorgeous to look at! Surprisingly for an action beat ‘em up game it has a story. Your character levels up and has skills. This gives you replay value especially with 4 player co-op. Unlike other new generation beat ‘em up games there are a lot of buttons on your controller and they like to use a lot of them. Your character has a ton of moves and different animations right out of the gate. Variety is the spice of life here, but that is also why I docked 1 star. It can be easy to forget everything you can do unless you really want to get dedicated to the game. Most beat ‘em ups are supposed to be pick up and play and this one is as long as you don’t mind lowering the difficulty at first. You can get very creative how you dispatch each hoard of enemies and it will take practice to be a true hero here. Highly recommended!

    Great game, awkward art

This is the best beat-em-up/rpg mixup in at least a decade by an far for so many reasons...but most people I know are understandably turned away by the strange art. The artists who made this put a lot of time and effort into it and made it truly amazing, but at the same time they had a tremendous focus on breasts and butts and nudity that doesn't quite show everything and its incredibly weird and awkward every time its on the screen. If you can get past that, or aren't playing this with/around people who are judging you are in for a fun co-op experience. (BTW best be ready to play with with people you know, the online is already dead). P.S. if you gonna play it co op you may use the share-play, we found it to work incredibly well with this game.

If you grew up on these kinds of games like I did and you like hack n slash with a great soundtrack and visuals (and some T&A), you gotta get this game! Great hommage to old school sidescrollers of the past. Very well done, great action, artwork and gameplay. Leveling systems, loot to grind for and varied enemies and levels. And it has MP! I grabbed it on sale for $20 and it came with the steelcase. Awesome deal!!

If you haven't played this game you're missing out. It's a very atmospheric and unique side scrolling combat-focused game with really cool fantasy art and it looks even better on the PS4. This battle-hardened edition comes with an embossed metalpak and some cards which makes it even better for the price. If it looks even a little interesting to you then it is probably worth giving it a try.

If you grew up with games such as Streets of Rage or Golden Axe you will feel right at home with this one. Its a 2D side scroller where you move right and beat stuff up. Their are 6 character classes you can switch between at your leisure. You can level up your characters, buy better equipment and buy items to help you power up your attacks or potions to heal you. It has 4 player local and online co-op so its a great game if you have friends to play with. I will warn you that in order to play online co-op you MUST beat the entire game at least once. Overall fun 2D beat 'em up with light RPG elements.

If you enjoyed the old-school side scrolling beat-em-ups of the 90's, you will enjoy this game. If also has RPG elements to it like leveling up, getting better gear and skills. The game is also gorgeous with hand-drawn sprites everywhere. If you have a PS4 Pro and 4k TV, everything is in true 4k. I got this on sale for $30 which I think is fair for a remastered game from last console generation.

Basically, it's nearly identical to the PS3/Vita release, just with updated visuals and a new, orchestrated soundtrack (a highlight, for sure). It shares a trophy list with the previous versions, which is nice, but I would have really liked if they added some new features, like new classes, areas, or even just new items. The metal case in the Battle-Hardened version is very nice (it's not a Steelbook, but is still high quality). A must buy for action fans who never played it, but only good for previous players that either LOVE it or really want the upgraded sound and visuals.

I own this on the PS3, but I knew I had to purchase this amazing game again on the PS4. The visuals are breathtaking, and the soundtrack is just as well done. Playing as all the different characters makes the gameplay not feel as repetitive, but I will say some minor fatigue will set in if played solo. Definitely one to play with friends.

If you grew up on SNES and Genesis side scrolling games, this one is for you. It feels like a grand upgrade to Golden Axe on the sega. The art is amazing, the gameplay is tight, and specials are awesome. If you want a great couch co-op (2 players) this is it. You can even join with friends online (4 players).

Vanillaware games are gorgeous, and Dragon's Crown Pro looks exceptional in 4K on a PS4 Pro. The remastered soundtrack is phenomenal, and the gameplay is as good as it ever was. If you liked the original, this is well worth picking up. If you haven't played it, now's a great time to get into this beautiful D&D-inspired beat 'em up.

The game at its core is the exact same as the original released on the Vita and PS3. I love that. The game itself was already a masterful work of art that was super fun. Now, add in the HD resolution and cool steelbook and you got yourself a pretty easy purchase. I also like the price point that it released at.

A wonderful party game with fantastic Graphics that should be used only with players 18 and up. The story while short is intriguing and leaves completionist hungry for more, combat is complex but enjoyable would recommend this to anyone over 18.

It’s a great action beat em up/rpg game. The graphics are gorgeous on PS4, especially in 4K. The steelbook is embossed and one of the best I’ve seen. The only downfall is there’s no new trophy list. So if you’ve played this on PS3 or Vita previously, don’t expect to add to your trophy count.

It's Dragon's Crown in 4k with the music done by an orchestra. Still cross play and cross save too. Nothing else new. The trading cards are ok. The steel book is very nice though. If you are unfamiliar with Dragon's Crown it is an up to four player local and online beat em up (think Final Fight or Golden Axe) with strong RPG elements. Game flows like so: Assemble your crew, shop and set yourselves up in town, pick a stage (or go to one randomly), fight enemies, defeat a boss at the end, sort through the loot you've collected, return to town and repeat for like 10 different areas. After a point in the story the areas get a new branching path for each and there's lots of little cool mechanics for uncovering secrets like using the touch pad or right analog stick to interact with the environment or players. There's a lot of fresh ideas present. Problem though is that once you get through normal difficulty (20 hours maybe) the game goes on a loop more or less and there isn't much new to see and do. The game really needed more areas and foes to fight with how the game is structured. It wants to be a sprawling action-rpg but the world confines it all too much. Still it is great re-release to have after Odin Sphere. Here's hoping Muramasa The Demon Blade gets one too.

Side scrolling beat em up RPG. The art style is similar to odinsphere. More fun with friends but is a solid game solo as well. Special edition is very nice although the slipcover is sort of tight on the steelbook and may wear over time easily.

It’s been a while since I played a good side scroller beat em up, but this is like Golden Axe with RPG elements. A great twist here is you can have NPCs join your party and fight with you! Interesting art style and pretty smooth gameplay that is not so in depth that myself and a casual player two can’t enjoy it! I usually trust ATLUS, and I feel like this is another solid purchase!
