I got rid of cable and installed an HDTV antenna on my roof. This DVR receiver works well with the antenna. The DVR portion of this device works as it is supposed to.

The receiver is not very good at picking up over the air signals. My tv does a better job. This receiver kept freezing and pixelating.

So happy I cut the cord with Channel Masters

Love my Channel Master DVR. Researched other antenna dvrs and this one was the ONLY one that didn't charge a monthly fee to use it. Use this with my CM3010HD antenna in my attic, stream Netflix on a roku stick and now that this DVR has ESPN on Sling app it's a home run! Easy set up out of the box, not need for activation fee or another device to make this product work. Would give it a 6th star if I could.

Top of the line DVR for OTA Antenna use,

because there are no subscription costs required to use this DVR like the Tivo, and others. The guide works very well for recording OTA broadcast TV shows. No more Directv, or cable for me. There are some apps available for streaming cable shows with an internet connection, and subscription(Sling TV, HBO, VUDU, etc.), but not required for use of this DVR with an OTA antenna. I bought this one at best buy that has the internal hard drive, and bought another at Channel Master website without the internal drive. I think the one without the internal drive would be better in the long run, but even if the hard drive fails in the future on this one, you can still add your own external drive later on. Just hope Channel Master sticks around in the DVR business because they have a winner with this device. Thanks to all the previous reviewers, very helpful researching OTA DVR's. 5 stars Channel Master, and best buy for carrying this line of products.

    Perfect DVR For Chord Cutters

I cut off my Direct TV service last year. Biggest thing I missed was the DVR for network channels. After trying a cheaper alternative DVR that did not work, and knowing I didn't want to pay a monthly fee like TIVO I decided to order the Channel Master. I will say this was super easy to set up, no loss of picture quality, and is one of the easiest DVR's to program I've used. A must have for any cable cutter who wants to record shows!

    Exactly What We Needed

We wanted to record the content from our TV antenna and be able to pause live TV. This product does that and a lot more. We are extremely happy and there are no monthly fees. If you don't connect it to the internet it will do these things with two days of guide data. But when you connect it to the internet the guide expands to 14 days of guide data and adds Sling TV, Pandora, Youtube and Vudu to the program guide. It also adds a lot of live streaming channels and Channel Master appears to be adding more of those pretty frequently. For example, the Newsy channel popped up in the guide recently and we've been enjoying it a lot. Bonus - the remote control has back lighting! The setup is very easy, too. It connects to your TV with an HDMI cord. It's a lot like having a cable DVR and now we no longer have a cable bill. Between this and the Roku stick we're happy cord cutters now!

    Amazing DVR

This DVR is amazing. I was a bit leary after reading some of the reviews that the receiver wasn't strong enough. I have had no such issues. Recording is easy and works well. You can extend the amount of time on each side of recordings so if you are recording a football game or something that may go past the scheduled times you won't get cut off. Easy setup and installation. The only slight hiccup, but not enough to take away a star is when you want to change channels, you click on it, and then it asks you if you want to change to that channel, so it's two clicks to change a channel instead of one. Other than that, I highly recommend this DVR. It's expensive, but with no subscription to pay for, and the ability to record your favorite shows on OTA channels with the Fall TV season coming up, it's worth it. I wish I'd have known about this product years ago.

Excellent over the air dvr without a subscription.

This 1tb Channel Master DVR+ with included wifi chip was replacing my cable dvr. (had cable for the past 10+ years and the price increases finally got to me) so going into the hunt for a dvr I was going to be fairly picky. What I ended up with was as good as hoped and better than expected. The shows when recorded (for example, if I set NCIS to a series recorder, and to record only new episodes) will be placed into a folder with the show title. Now, on top of this nice little factoid if I come across reruns of the show that I have not watched yet and want to record them, I can record them individually (and rename them as I see fit) or include them in the program, so they will be lumped into the show folder. For those wondering "when I fast forward does it skip without showing anything, or does it show the program still" it does show the program so you can be sure to avoid going too far.

    Excellent DVR

This is the first DVR I've ever owned and it has exceeded my expectations. It was very easy to set-up and use, as well as to sync with my Harmony remote. I also like the slim, unobtrusive design and that it's casing is not cheap plastic... a very solid unit. All my OTA stations come in nice and clear with no noticing degradation in picture quality. Very happy with my purchase.

After deciding to get rid of cable it was hard finding a similar tv experience. DVR+ lets me have all my local channels with a channel guide. I love being able to records my shows just like before and saving money every month. Very happy with this product.

Wish I'd know about this sooner!!

I stumbled upon this product last month while researching "cord-cutting." Our cable bill is (was) over $200 per month and we needed to cut back on expenses. After buying this, we've been able to pick up all of the stations and shows we really need and can watch them whenever we want, just like we used to do with cable. I'm calling the cable company this afternoon to cut the "TV cord." I'll hang on to my data service because this box also has some Internet apps that really work well. Good job, Channel Master!

    High Quality DVR

When my wife and I cut cable we really missed recording our favorite shows. However, thanks to Channel Master, we no longer miss that feature. We set up the DVR and it scanned 86 channels. After setting up the internet it scanned some additional internet channels. With the Apps and the free internet channels you really get more bang for your buck. We were really impressed with the DVR and the quality of the product. It works exactly as advertised. I would highly recommend this to anyone who owns an antenna and to anyone looking to cut cable. Channel Master made it easy for us to forget cable.

    Great deal for the Money!

I found this special package and thought it too good to be true but it was exactly as described. Set up was very easy and plenty of storage space for what we need with the 1TB. The only problem with it is that when you want to record a series, you can't choose new only so it will record any, new, old, reruns, etc so I found if I just delete the extras, it works fine. Love that there is no external hard drive to work with and it's all in a slim little tablet size!

I have 3 of these units, they are not stable

    Posted .

I have had 3 of these units for 1-1/2 years and I use the hard drives that Channelmaster was selling with the units. They will freeze up for no reason and will not record items until you catch it and reset the unit by holding the power button down for 5 seconds. The units offer Vudo but not Netflix? I don't regret them because at the time they were the best buy for the money and they do not require a monthly or lifetime charge such as TIVO, I bought all three on sale around Christmas time which made it less painful. You may want to check out Tablo, Magnavox is also expected to have three DVR's out sometime in 2016. FYI I had DirecTV for about 20 years previous to going OTA DVR's and internet streaming, I have zero regrets, my system is pretty much complete and paid for itself after 8 months.

It works like a HDDVR should! Far better than Tablo! These days it is difficult to fine a DVR that has a sensible interface. This unit dose. It is small enough that it is almost invisible. Best DVR I could find.
