Best zombie game out on XBOX ONE!!!

As I'm writing this, I've played for about five hours, and in those five hours, I've had one of the most fun, and genuinely frightening experiences I've had playing a zombie game. Combat is very simple, but in this game, it's much safer to run early on. Stop to fight out in the open, and you can very easily become swarmed, and die very quickly. But that's why I love the movement system. It'll take a bit to get accustomed to at first, but once you do, you'll have a blast (If you like parkour in video games). My one complaint gameplay-wise is that there's no actual function to check your watch, and the only way to do so is to hang from a ledge. Though you do get radio warnings an hour before sunset, which is nice.
The story is certainly more interesting than I was expecting (To be honest I wasn't even expecting one), and the voice acting is good. The game is very pretty to look at too. But it becomes a whole different game when the sun goes down. That's not just a marketing tagline, it really does change. Instead of dodging slow zombies and scavenging for supplies, you're now running for your life from a much faster, stronger, and more dangerous enemy, one that stalks you relentlessly. But, at night, experience points double. So, when the sun goes down, you really have to ask yourself...is the risk really worth it?
Edit: So, I played a little more into the game, and I found a good a workaround for the watch issue. If you carry a good knife with you, you will hold up both arms when it's equipped, letting you see your watch just fine.

I've been playing this game for a while now and I love it. It has a mix of powerful and weaker, fast and slower, aggressive and more tame zombies which makes the game very fun to play. Great scenery as well as enticing immersive quests and upgradeable and reconstructible weapons.

This game is very entertaining. It all starts off as an interesting adaptation of what has come known as open world/sandbox style games with a few interesting features like ZOMBIES! The game play is enjoyable, but be warned playing for extreme periods of time may induce goosebumps and elevated heart rates because once night time rolls around the play style changes from hunter to hunted. Night time only lasts 7 mins in real time, but if you are brave enough to venture outside of a safe zone during this time it seems much longer. Highly recommended to find 3 other players and take advantage of the CO-OP mainly because it gives the volatiles someone else to chase. Enjoy. Good Night, Good Luck.

The game overall was pretty interesting. Story was fairly decent and the gameplay mechanics were smooth. If you enjoyed games like dead island/dead rising then you'll definitely enjoy this game. With plenty of side quests, pretty solid leveling system, weapon customization, and the first person parkour element it's a good game to pick up and run through with your friends or solo if you prefer. Only draw back is after you reach a certain level it becomes pretty easy as your character gets a little OP but still worth a play if you need a good pass time game.

Dying Light throws you directly into the zombie apocalypse and forces you to learn how to survive. You will scavenge for weapons, and race to capture air dropped supplies while jumping from rooftops. The day/night cycle will leave you terrified to go out at night until you build up your free running skills, weapons cache, and familiarity with the terrain. Overall, a great open world zombie survival game.

A Great Zombie Game Survival Game

I found this game to be even better than expected. The game had a compelling great story. The freestyle running while it takes a while getting adjusted to the fast pace running from ledge to rooftop and on I find it very refreshing that I felt so unrestricted in my movement in the world which is the very task sandbox games are trying to master. The game provided a variety of interesting Easter eggs and secretes that kept me enthralled with the game as they were not afraid to bend reality from time to time for fun. Don't want to spoil any of the surprises though. The game was challenging enough to keep me on my toes yet not so difficult to take away from feeling free to explore all parts of the map even at night. The game forces you to take time to perform night based tasks and their is no experience loss for death at night which encourage players to explore and try to survive the night. As the game so often says Good Night Good Luck.

This is the best Parkour Zombie game ever. it has action, scary chases, zombies, parkour, open world, co-op and competitive play. what more do you want? David Belle the father of parkour and from movies District B13 and Brick Mansions, over saw this project to make sure the parkour was realistic.

Game is fun, with a B-movie story

Dying Light pulls from many games of the past but still keeps things fresh and fun. The combat is simplistic, but challenging. Some have compared it to Dead Island meets Mirror’s Edge and in some respects they are right, but the tone is more serious than Dead Island and the parkour is not as smooth and fluid as Mirror’s Edge. This is not to say the parkour is bad, it just doesn’t flow the same way. It feels more realistic and weighty when jumping around and grabbing on to ledges. The story is passable but feels more like B-movie horror with characters that are somewhat interesting, but in the end don’t hold much attention. It does take a couple hours for the game to find its footing, pardon the pun, but once you start to level up your skills and get better crafted weapons it is really fun. The night missions are the biggest challenge and change the dynamic of the game turning it into stealth survival. Please understand this is a violent game and can be a little disturbing for some. I highly recommend this game and I hope you enjoy it as much as I do.

At night, the world undergoes a deadly transformation: the hunter becomes the hunted as the infected grow more aggressive and numerous, and something far more sinister awakens to stalk its prey
Free Running Movement - Whether tracking prey or escaping predators, Dying Light lets players swiftly navigate the world by seamlessly leaping between buildings, grappling up walls and pouncing on unsuspecting enemies
Dying Light is set in a vast open world, delivering expansive and varied environments, a wide variety of enemy classes and a hopeless tale of survival where resources are scarce and the infected are not the only threat
Get up-close using a variety of light and heavy weapons including knives, bats, axes, sledgehammers and more exotic weaponry or utilize guns and other firepower to take down enemies from a distance
Why use a wrench when you can use a wrench wrapped in electrified barb wire Dying Light's sizeable crafting system enables players to create a slew of new, more potent weapons and equipment, as well as specialized ammunition

I got this game cuz I lile Zombie type games.
This is a good game. Wish you had a gun at the start. Like the missions in the game pretty good. And a story to tell.. Jump and grab and climb up was tricky on a few things but easy to learn. Nice game 4 stars I would give it.

I haven't played a zombie game since Left 4 Dead, and I'll be honest - my first thought when starting up Dying Light was, "The player faces in this game look like something from Half-Life 2 back in the early 2000s ..." After being spoiled a bit by games like Battlefield, it took me back for a second. But within 15 minutes, I'd forgotten all about that as I dove into the immersive world of Harran. Plus, Half-Life 2 definitely didn't have zombies that react appropriately to the way they're sliced and diced. Limbs flying, heads coming off, slow-mo critical hits, and my personal favorite - the overhead power-chop that cleaved a guy straight down the middle, then watching the two halves slide apart and hit the ground. Dang, son.
The main storyline was fun and engaging, but also keeping things interesting (and adding to the longevity of the game play) are the side quests and challenges. I love the co-op mode, too, where a friend can join into your game and progress with you in the campaign or side missions, even if they're not up to that point in the game yet. They can still go back and complete the parts of the campaign they skipped over once they exit co-op, but that's another great reason for the side quests - you can do those together without spoiling the main story quest for anyone in the party.
Night Hunter mode is fun, though significantly harder for the humans after the update (no more bombing the nests you have to destroy, and zombies seem much more resistant to damage than in normal mode now). I played quite a lot before the early March 2015 patch because it was possible to solo it if you kept your head on a swivel (and if the Night Hunter player didn't just sit up high and hurl his spits at you on rapidfire - the zombie equivalent of n00b-tubing). I've only played a couple of times since the patch, and those have been in 2-player co-op parties against a lower level Night Hunter, so the jury's still out on how that mode will be going forward. It's a fun diversion from the main game, regardless, and you have a lot of control over who can join into your game as a Night Hunter and when. Plus you get nice drops after winning Night Hunter mode now; you used to only get a single drop that let you create a speed/resistance/stamina booster, but now you can get some good weapons as rewards, too.
Overall, I think a good indication of how fun a game is whether or not you fire it up after beating it. I beat the main storyline quite a while ago, and yet I still play this game several times a week (I've logged a little over 50 hours now). It's been a long time since I played a single-player storyline game; Tomb Raider was my last, and before that, probably Battlefield: Bad Company 2. I've always been a multiplayer FPS type of gamer, but Dying Light has really held my interest well and been a blast to play. The story lines, the game physics, the movement around the map (particularly once you get the grappling hook, which gives you a bit of a "Spider-man" feeling at times), the large free-roam worlds, the unabashedly awesome drop-kicking, knee-breaking, head-crushing, power-ramming, body-cleaving, zombie annihilating fun - this game has enough to keep me going for quite a while still. And there's still a couple of DLC packs set to come out, too. Very highly recommended!

There are multiple types of zombies, vast amounst of weapon/upgrade combinations, huge open world and a day/night cycle that will send you directly to the bottom of the food chain! the graphics are gorgeous, the looting system is a step up from most zombie games and the zombies are your stereotypical slow undead idiots. however the game completely changes at night. You become the hunted due to the zombies becoming more aggressive and agile. why even go out at night right? Doing mission award you double xp and money when completed at night, and leveling up is not easy in this game so double xp really motivates you to risk going out at night. No zonbie game has ever been able to give me such a rush as this game can!

The Better Dead Island

Overall: I almost passed this game thinking it would just be another Dead Island. Well, just as I thought, it's another Dead Island but better! Almost completed the game which I've done most missions in CoOp mode. So far from the amount of time I've played I feel I've gotten my $60 (in my case with 20% off with gamerclub) worth of gaming not including the DLC that is completely optional and I'll more than likely just pass. I would and already have recommended this to some of my other friends.
The 2 main reasons I think Dying Light is better than Dead Island.
The Parkour - in this game adds fun to moving around the map, and considering there is no fast travel you'll be glad it's fun. There is a very good reason why there is no fast travel btw, which brings me to my next topic.
The Day and Night Cycle - I've never felt such a difference in how I play until I've played the Day and Night cycle of Dying Light. During the day I move freely knowing I can handle just about anything that comes my way, but once the sun starts going down I know I need to get to the safe house to either wait out the night or use it as a check point to get to my next objective. This is probably the reason why there is no fast travel in the game, making sure that you'll have to manage your time wisely or risk having to survive the night when the super zombies come out to look for food. If you're not careful they can kill you in 1 attack, don't even bother feeling safe on the rooftops cause they will just follow you up there. During the early under leveled parts of the game you'll definitely have some fear towards nightfall, but as you unlock more skills you'll start to feel more comfortable going out at night. My friend and I would sometimes run missions during the night just to add some difficulty to it as well as a few laughs when we both have to go "every man for themselves"
Extra Notes - Remember the horrible voice acting in Dead Island? It's back. Visually the game looks a lot better, and I really think they achieved this because they made it ONLY next gen. Fighting in the game is just about the same as Dead Island and if you've never played Dead Island, what's wrong with you! JK! Not a bad start for the zombie genre in 2015

I've played about 17 hours of this game (have yet to complete the campaign, about 70% of the way through.) It's a beautiful open world with zombies. The sound is brilliant, soundtrack paces along with the gameplay which makes it even more intense and by far the best soundtrack I've heard for a game to date. Things get even more intense when it switches from day to night. There will be a mission that I won't spoil, but was an adrenaline rush for your first night out on the city. Controls can be a bit quirky if you're used to normal first person games though but not enough to dock it any deductions.

This game has been one of the better games I have played in a long time. You can play solo you can play with friends and there is a multiplayer. Its a good story but even if you wanna go around and just goof off you can do that too. Not too difficult for a new gamer to play but has lot of gore in it. I wouldn't recommend for someone under 18 but anyone else looking for a fun scary game to have a lot of fun with I would easily recommend it. Lots of side quest, lots of different weapons, and more different and updates coming. All in all game is 10 out of 10 will play for a long time.

In Dying Light, you play as a free runner in a city overrun with zombies. The game plays in first person with mostly melee weapons, so all of your encounters are up close and personal. There are minor rpg elements which open new items and increase your skills, as well as plenty of side quests. Day and night cycles also add to the intensity as enemies are stronger, and harder to see at night. The free running and combat are handled well and the controls are responsive, but the control scheme is convoluted and unchangeable. This is the only thing that mars an otherwise amazing experience.

Received this game as a gift. Played it the first day I got it. Was a little skeptical on the game play as it's played in first person view. Though after a little bit of playing and getting used to the controls, and exploring The Slums i became hooked. I did read game reviews prior to receiving the game. Which were all good reviews. I don't have any complaints on the game. I would recommend it for anyone 17+ or older as it does contain graphic imaging and bad language, and someone that enjoys zombie or horror video games.

This game will have you on the edge of your seat trying to figure out what will happen next.then when you thought you figured it out, BAM, plot twist. Yeah killing zombies might get repetitive and weapons breaking ducks,bUT it is kind of realistic, stuff doesn't last forever when used to chop thinks down like that. Extreme open world you can go anywhere. Great game worth the money and the time invested into it

This is a nice departure from games like Dead Rising where you basically play in God mode most of the game. The game is somewhat challenging but that aspect makes it feel more like you're trying to survive. Finding and collecting loot is fun as well as progressing your character. It feels mostly like a string of fetch quests to drive the story but the environment makes it bearable. Game is also best played with friends where working together pays off especially at night. Highly reccommended game for all zombie fans!
