Customers find value in the Crosscut Paper Shredder's crosscut shredding functionality. However, many users report frequent jamming issues and concerns about the product's reliability, with some units malfunctioning after only a short period of use. The shredding capacity is also a point of contention, as several customers experienced the device struggling or ceasing to function when shredding more than a small number of sheets at once. Overall, the product's performance and durability are significant drawbacks for many users.

Awful Shredder

In all honesty, the shredder was a breeze to setup. If it tipped over, there is a safety that stops the shredder to prevent any issues.
Unfortunately, that is where the good things end. My shredder would jam easily on a few sheets of paper. Finally, I cleared a jam one day and it wouldn't work anymore.
All in all, this was a poor investment and I wouldn't recommend it to anyone.

Terrible Shredder

After using this shredder for 1-2 minutes, it overheated. It took about 10 minutes for it to cool down enough to turn back on and then after shredding a piece of paper it shut down again. It is now sitting on my counter waiting to be returned because once it did turn back on, it proceed to jam.

My wife and I picked this up since it was the cheapest shredder in the store - and who wants to spend a lot of money on a shredder?
Unfortunately, the machine broke after 2 days - not very easy at all to remove any jams, but the machine has well and truly died in any case. Probably worth paying the extra $20 and getting a more reliable machine.

Very Disappointing

After 10 straight minutes of shredding some mail, (most of which cause it some strain as mentioned in the other reviews) it simply stopped working completely. Since it had been straining on other pieces of mail I would say this is not a viable product for every day use unless you plan to open up all your mail and separate it into smaller pieces this product can handle. Now i will say that the piece of mail that this ultimately stopped working on was in fact 8 layers thick, so technically I exceeded the maximum of 7 sheets, but I expected to be able to use the reverse mechanism to continue operating the device. Unfortunately it seemed that this was the last straw for the device. 10 minutes of what I would consider normal use and that was it. I did give it some time to cool off, since it was hot to the touch after this period of operation, but that unfortunately didn't make a difference.

It jammed only using a few papers at a time and one day just quit working (of course after the 30 return period!!) I would have had better satisfaction shedding the cash I spent on it

Quit Working After 2 months

This shredder constantly jammed up. The reverse function didn't help at all. I never shred more than 3 pages at once and it only lasted 2 months with just home use.

Worst Shredder Ever

Awful product. You would be better off shredding the pieces of paper by hand. This thing jams with three or more pages at a time despite boasting it can shred 5 at a time. This piece of junk usually is good for shredding through about 7 or 8 bills and then completely shuts down at which time you need to manually pick out each little piece of paper causing the jam. Please feel free to buy if you are looking forward to smashing something.

Micro switch faulty

The microswitch stopped working that tells the shredder to start when you insert paper, then quit... this disabled all other funtions as well.

It does crosscutting but runs a little slowly when shredding more than 4 pieces of paper at one time. It keeps documents you want to get rid of safe and shredded.

This shredder is worthless: jammed constantly, blades always clung to paper, reverse did not work, does NOT "shred 7 sheets at a time." This is now officially junk: stopped working in less than a year. Now, I've got to figure out how to trash it . . .

A good paper shredder for a good price, but the motor is a little noisy
