High Tech Robot Vac

The technology this robot vac has is next level. Initial setup and connecting to my wifi network was a breeze. During it's first run It mapped my home with no issues. The ECOVACS HOME app makes everything simple and straight forward. Within the app I was able to set boundaries and mark areas I don't want mopped. You can also set a sequence for what order you want each room cleaned and It has various suction strengths ranging from quiet to max+. Max+ is definitely louder, I've found no reason to have it on anything stronger than standard for my hardwood floors but it would be perfect for carpets. For mopping it also has options for how much water you want it to spray during cleaning. I have a dog that sheds like crazy and 2 very messy kids that leave crumbs everywhere. This robot has cleaned everything up perfectly. I have it scheduled to automatically vacuum and mop every night. Once it completes the cleaning it returns to it's dock and automatically empties it's dust bin to the empty station. I will say it has had a couple mishaps with getting tangled on a couple cords and one night it circled my house 3 times before telling me it couldn't locate it's charging base. I'm sure with more updates it can resolve these types of issues easily. Overall I highly recommend.

Deebot Ozmo T8+

The Deebot Ozmo T8+ is one high tech gadget!
The first time the robot deploys to do it's initial "cleaning", it is really just a discovery mission. It hardly cleans and stays on a very linear path. It's sole purpose is to map the area and begin getting familiar. It was impressive to watch it map rooms via the iOS app. It was able to see walls and corners without even going into the room yet. It further refined it's data upon entering the room and getting closer to walls and objects. It avoided anything sitting on the floor (tables, cords, shoes, etc...) and just simply went around them.
The second deployment it actually mapped a better course for actual cleaning. It made overlapping passes to cover the whole length of the floor.
The robot announces when it begins cleaning as well as broadcasts a notification on your mobile phone. It announces again when completed, or, when it needs interaction (if it gets stuck, etc.).
Overall, the cleaning is thorough, but nothing better than a high end dust buster. It picks up loose debris, dust, fuzz, but is not a direct replacement for a more powerful, manual vacuum. The "mop" feature is fairly laughable. It just wets a micro fiber attachment and drags water across the floor. No soap or actual cleaning is done. This is again helpful for dust, but nothing more.
It's best to consider this a high tech dust-buster, for in between more thorough cleanings. It's super convenient and nice to have the floor generally cleaned on a daily (or however you schedule it) basis.
Reading the manual, I have concerns over the recommended maintenance. It recommends replacing the brushes every few cleans. There is an internal filter that also needs to be replaced on regular intervals. The auto-extractor on the home base, where after a cleaning, the vacuum empties it's contents into a larger trash bag type mechanism. This bag needs replacing when full as there is no way to "empty" it officially. It seems this vacuum sucks up more money even after it's initial purchase and I would have liked to see. Granted, then replacement items are not "expensive" but this is an annoyance compared to my other, far more expensive vacuums, that do not require this level of replacement part maintenance.
The vacuum itself is extremely high quality and feels exceptionally well made. It is sturdy, heavy, and everything fits together with absolute precision. It feels thoughtfully engineered with logical design. It goes nicely with most home decor, and even looks "cool" sitting on it's home base in the corner of the room.
Overall, this is a convenient gadget that helps to keep the floors clean, especially in high traffic areas that require a ton of light vacuuming throughout the week. This will free you from that and allow you to get other things done. That alone is worth the investment in this device. It's run to watch it in action, and the technology implemented in this little machine is truly amazing.

Best robot vacuum I’ve used

Been using this everyday for a few weeks now and I am very happy with this vacuum. I’ve had a few older Roombas in the past that did ok, but this one’s cleaning power and ability to get in corners is noticeably better. The accuracy of the room scanning is great, the vacuum almost never bumps into objects or doors and still gets within less than an inch of objects to clean all around them. I have it set to go every morning and it has not had any issues yet (aside from getting stuck to a floor mat in the bathroom once because it had loose fabric that got tangled). Even then the app on my phone told me it was stuck. It finds the base easily every time and fully empties the bin after each vacuuming with no issues. I still haven’t gotten around to trying the mopping feature but I will update this when I do soon. Also a bonus is how quiet this one is. No issues watching TV or talking when it’s right below me on the couch.

Best robot Vacuum yet!!

Assembly - just have to assemble the vacuum plate and mop plate/pad. Plug into the wall!!
Setup
Assembly - just have to assemble the vacuum plate and mop plate/pad. Plug into the wall!! Love that there is a built in cord wrap! I didn't have to find a way to bundle up the cord like other robot/vacuums. Neat and Tidy out of the gate
I have another Ecovac vacuum. But had to update to a new app. Ecocav HOME. Detection of the new device was quick and it autodetected my older device. So now both were in the same app. Removed the old app from my phone.
Usage
Usage was as expected. Find a location for the unit to live. Create a schedule for the device to operate and basically walk away for regular vacuuming. For Mopping you have to attach the pad and fill the cleaning solution container. I found I didn't use this as much because of the required interaction. You will also want to ensure you have a full mapping complete and mark off the rooms/areas for mopping as the device WILL run over the carpets/rugs in this mode. Otherwise it works very well.
Mapping
I was quite impressed with how well this device maps. It marks walls with a darker line and seems to remember them. The front "eyes" even see through my doors that have a cat door opening and mapped the rooms on the other side fairly accurately!
Getting stuck - This device did get the occasion charging cable stuck in the rollers that my kids had left out. But the obstacle avoidance works really well. I was very pleased with how little I was having to go restart the device compared to my lesser Ecovac model and even my comparative other brands!
Battery
The vacuum has a good vacuum. It was able to complete my entire main floor, approx. 715 sq ft, while navigating many obstacles from chair legs(2 rooms), kids toys, dog toys with 1 charge. This took an average run time of just under 2 hours
Mopping - not my favorite mode as it requires some interaction to complete. You also HAVE to have a complete map with boundaries. As it just runs its pattern, going over rugs and carpet
It does work well though and I tried to do it once a week manually. I guess you could schedule this, but the pad would dry overnight and not be the best job if you want a "wet" mop.
Interactions - The app is good for reference, although could be laid out a bit better. The functions are there, but I had to go look for them.(Specifically advanced room mapping - this should upfront and forward). Otherwise, it provided reports of each cleaning, showed a cleaning map, square footage cleaned, and time is taken. See pics
There is a locater button for when the device does get stuck and you aren't home. Just take and it talks to you! I like the talking notification of the device as you didn't have to get your phone to determine what the last problem was. But it can be hard to understand the voice at times.
Overall - This is the best vacuum I have. Based on the 3 I have. A drastic improvement from the lower end model of the same brand. And IMO, better mapping, and appearance than the competitor brands.

Absolutely love this robot vacuum! At first i bought the s9+ and Brava jet m6 mop as a bundle! The mapping was good the cleaning performance was good but it kept hitting walls and didn’t avoid any obstacles! So i returned and and did some research and found this to be my best bet so i got it on the Best Buy Black Friday sale for $450 and i absolutely love it haven’t had any issues with it so far and it avoids obstacles and is much quieter especially cause it doesn’t hit walls. I also noticed it’s a lot quieter than the s9+ on max power and low power so that’s an advantage! I like that it uses lidar to map something my roomba didn’t do so i think that’s pretty unique! The self emptying bin is great although i have known if it’s to full it struggles to empty the bin but in the end it’s an amazing product!

Terrible support but decent robot

Good robot but support is terrible. Be ready to find your own answers online if you want the robot to work correctly in your home.
Here are some issues support didn't have any answers for and basically said sorry that's the way the robot works and to accept it.
- A rug that is barely a quarter of an inch tall would cause the robot to not roll onto the rug. I have 4 of these rugs on my hardwood floor. Support was no help, I figured this one out on my own and after disabling the 3D avoidance feature the robot rolled right onto the rug. This was a head scratcher as one of the reason I bought this advanced robot was so it would avoid things like cables and chairs so it wouldn't bang into things or get the roller caught up but now this feature was useless for me. My Neato robot never had this issue since it never used this feature.
- The robot would avoid parts of my rug, support said this was a feature because the robot considered black color areas on my rug as potential "fall" zones since the sensors think its going to fall off stairs. I told support I only use the robot on my 1st floor so can we disable this feature and the response was sorry, this is how it works. My Neato which also has the ability to detect fall areas had no issues cleaning these rugs over the years....it must use different type of sensors. This robot cost twice as much as my neato and couldn't even clean these rugs....I had to search the internet and found other complaints from other customers, the answer was to use tape to tape over these sensors, you would think support could easily open a feature request to bypass those sensors instead of me having to use some cheap tape to cover the sensors.
- The robot had an issue where it lost it's map this caused it to gray out my scheduled jobs because it thought it was on a different location. After I got it to relocate itself it still grayed out my scheduled jobs and would not start any of the jobs or new jobs I created...I couldn't figure out how to delete the job so opened a ticket with support. Again they were no help and said they identified this as a feature request because you couldn't delete grayed out scheduled jobs. They suggested I delete all my maps and have the robot rediscover the floor. I did a quick search and in 2 minutes found the answer on how to delete the grayed out scheduled jobs....I was speechless that support didn't even know about this.
- Lastly I spent more for this robot for the feature that it will auto empty the bin....however it's not that great, the hairs would get caught and cause the auto empty to never fully empty the bin, I always end up having to clean it out. I could open a ticket to ask support why this feature doesn't work correctly but I have given up. I'll just figure it out on my own later.
As you can see support is terrible and all the features I spent extra for ended up not working. Worst part is I've only had this robot for 1 months. I bought this robot thinking it was going to be a big step up from my old trusty neato that I've had for 5 years but it's just a little step up.
The only positive over my Neato is that this robot is a lot quieter and the advance mapping works better once I got it working. I can schedule specific areas to be cleaned on specific days/time. The UI was also easier to work with and create boundary lines so that it stays out of trouble areas. It does have a mopping feature that the neato didn't have and I've used it twice now, it's pretty average I took a full 2 stars off of the review because of support and all the things I listed above. I am pretty patient and tech savvy so I was able to figure out the issues above on my own or searching the internet. However for folks that aren't as savvy or patient you are going to be out of luck with the lackluster support.
My neato wheels wore down after 5 years so I hope this expensive robot will last longer than 5 years and maybe support will improve, I did provide constructive criticism to support but I am unsure if any of these will be addressed.

In fairness I cannot give this a 5 star review. I would love to because it works well, it’s quiet, and packed with features, however for a robot designed for hard floors and carpeting it’s not the best at carpet cleaning. It does a phenomenal job on hard floors however.
The self empty bin is such a life changer and requires little interaction with the robot unless there is a issue.
Pros:
Self empty bin
Mopping feature
Low profile
Quiet
Overall pickup
Lidar laser mapping system
Very stylish looking
Cons:
Poor pickup on carpeting (not the bots fault *as this is a brushroll design fault)
No lip on the bumper to prevent scratching of *the lens with the sensors
Robot will not move across rugs or carpet *with the mop pad attached so it needs to be *placed in the room you want mopped.
The software is a little buggy
Aside from the few annoyances however this robot is quality built and does not seem cheap. ECOVACSHOME just needs to make a few modifications and it would be perfect! For what you are getting it’s worth the money and a life saver for busy households.

This thing works great! 2,000sqft all hardwood home, two dogs/kids that shed, drop crumbs (why are you walking around while eating?!), and track dirt and fine sand inside nonstop... it’s amazing how much debris accumulates in 24hours. The mop works as a fine silt duster- which is all I use it for. I was also surprised that it learned how to get over our transoms- 100yr old house with tall 1x6 pine transoms. Took it 10minutes of trying, but it actually learned how to walk up them and now it goes over them easily. Very cool.
The object detection works great- doesn’t bash into anything or scuff the walls/chairs. Setting up no-go zones, rooms, order of rooms to clean, etc. is intuitive- which is good since there’s no instructions. The vacuum senses where carpets are, marks them on the map, and automatically increases suction when it’s on them- or avoids them when mopping. Very neat. 3hour battery life is needed for my house- takes 2 hours to vacuum. Really does a phenomenal job, is not very loud, and really it actually learns how to get around. We run a full house vacuum in the morning (2hours), and vacuum/mop living/kitchen area at night (20min).
The cons:
The bot does not sense when it’s dust bin is full- kind of an oversight for a premium priced product. So yes, I have an auto-empty base, but the bot doesn’t know when it needs to go there. Easy fix would be adding a line in the advanced schedule so I can schedule when it should empty. Example: clean this half of the house the dogs use, return to base to empty bin, resume cleaning. Even in the app the “empty bin” button sometimes disappears. The dust bin also empties from two ports instead of one- so women’s/animal hair can get stuck during auto-empty.
The app is a little buggy. If you leave it open on your phone and go back to it later, it likely won’t work. Close the app, log back in. The “empty bin” button disappears sometimes... don’t know why. The bot falls offline sometimes. I have Orbi’s WiFi 6 750 mesh system in a wood framer house- I have WiFi 100LF+ outside my house. They only drop off for a moment and resume and I’ve only noticed it when I’m in the app while it’s cleaning. I believe this is an app issue, not a chipset/WiFi issue.
That said, I’m keeping the bot. I poured over tons of reviews and videos and I already knew about the cons, so these weren’t a shock. It really does a great job, and vacuuming the house everyday makes the lack of detection for when the dust bin is full a nonissue. For a combo unit (vacuum and mop), I don’t think there’s a better option. If I only wanted a vacuum, I would have spent the extra $300 for the S9+. The kids are really intrigued by our families first robot, so they make sure their floors are cleared before going school- an unexpected plus!

Freaking amazing, I upgraded to this from the irobot 960 and this thing is so much better. It's a lot quieter than the roomba, it maps my for plan really well, i also had a lot of issues with the roomba getting stuck under furniture and this one hasn't done that once. The moping feature isn't designed to work like you would normally mop, instead it's designed to do a wipe down of the floors every day while it vacuums. Once your set it all up and have it run every day it's really just fire and forget. The station empties the dirt into a bag that can hold a lot. The water container holds enough to last several days and the mop pad can be used for several days before it needs changing. I do wish best buy sold the accessories like bags and more mop pads but they are available on Amazon (or aliexpress if you want them really cheap).
Now I live in a 1k square foot condo and I don't have pets but I am in a wheelchair so I track dirt and crap in every day on my wheels. I have this set up to run in the morning while I'm at work every day and it works amazingly well. I wash the mop pad, refill the water container and clean the filter once a week. I haven't had to change the bag yet but I've only had it a month. I got it on sale but even at normal price it's cheaper than a comparable irobot which wouldn't mop. Again I love this thing.

Once it learns the 'map' of the home, you can go put up restrictions to keep it from entering certain areas. It runs for close to 90 minutes on a charge, and will pick up where it left off after recharging. The auto empty is nice (though with 3 long hair cats, it doesn't always empty by itself.) We don't use the mop function. It does a solid job, and makes keeping the floor clean much easier.

If you're like me and hate stuff sticking to the bottom of your feet this will be invaluable to pick up. If you are willing to put the time in to maintain your little bot it will keep your floors clean off one run a day. This was a great all around purchase no matter how I look at it. The cons are something any model you look at will share, so its more of a forewarning.
Pros:
Mapping is dynamic and will adjust to moved objects while still remembering the full layout.
It will get over high thresholds. At first it might nit be able to but give it some time, it will try to spin near it and eventually get up and over. Later runs will have it just speed right up and over.
Suction is amazing, no problems with anything on the floor being left behind from dust, hair, coins, and it will even pick up socks ( and immediately tangle the main brush causing it to stop, but just goings to show how hard it goes)
Mopping feature is great, it's not a daily thing for me but it makes a noticeable difference with how much extra it picks up
App is easy to use with enough features to customize your little bot to do whatever, however, whenever you want
Setup was a breeze, super quick and easy.
Cons:
Clogging/tangling of main brush
The flaps where it empties to the tower can get blocked from fully closing
Water mist be emptied after every mop along with the removal of the cleaning pad
Getting stuck on rugs

As others have mentioned, the mop function is a joke. It really doesn't do anything. That is really the only negative I have seen about this unit. It does a nice job of vacuuming and mapping where it has been. The noise much less than I expected as well. It finished vacuuming the 1500 sq ft of hard surface floor (tile and hardwood) in about 90 minutes. I also like that I can have it vacuum a part of the house, like the dining room without needing to do the whole house. It has saved us a couple hours already and we have only had it for a month.

We named this vacuum "Rosie" in honor of TV show "The Jetson's" robotic housekeeper. "She" does a good job keeping up with the day-to-day light vacuuming around our home. We did run into a couple of minor issues. The home mostly has hardwood floor with black area rugs. The fall sensors on the bottom of the vacuum sees the black rugs as "the abyss" and backs away from the area rugs. To solve this issue, I've placed white electrical tape over the fall sensors. This solved the issue. Fortunately we live in a rambler so there are no stairs to contend with and actual fall. To vacuum just over 1100 square feet takes almost 2 hours. The battery does last the entire time, so that is positive. The app is easy to setup however it does require both the phone and vacuum to be on the same 2.4GHz Wi-Fi access point. My Google Pixel 4 would always want to connect to the 5GHz Wi-Fi making it difficult to actually connect to the vacuum for programming. I ended up turning off the 5GHz Wi-Fi on our Comcast / Xfinity router to make that connection work. After the home is mapped and the schedule is set, I'm able to connect without any issues even with my phone being on the 5GHz frequency. The AI of this vacuum is far better than our old original robotic vacuum that would usually "eat socks" under our bed (and get stuck). That was several years ago and the technology has advanced so now this vacuum avoids most temporary obstetrical like shoes and dog toys.
The Auto-Empty station seems to work well most of the time. It would be nice if the app had a button to start the empty process manually - it does not. I've had to manually empty the dust bin a few times so far. Always surprised how mush it picks up even though it was just vacuumed 24 hours earlier. Be prepared to purchase "consumables" like the side sweepers, beater bar and filters. They are very easy to change out and the app will let you know the estimated life of each. This is something different than "regular vacuums". Overall, I would recommend this product.

Got this around prime day. Did my research and many YouTube reviews to determine which robot I wanted. The self emptying narrowed it down to 4 main choices. The only robot that is better with a self emptying bin is roomba s9+ but I couldn't justify the price. The mapping took a couple of tries before accurately mapping my home. Its not perfect but not expecting it to be. Its pretty quiet which is nice. The app works pretty well and its nice to be able to have Alexa send it out to clean. The mop it comes with is a disappointment as it drags a little bit of water on a pad BUT they have come out with an oscillating mop attachment which reviews show it actually effective at light mopping. The s9 doesn't mop so you'd have to get the brava m6. $450 for the t8+ and will be additional $100 for the mop accessory vs s9+ with the m6 best price I've seen is roughly $1100 for both. I do not think it works twice as well considering it costs twice as much. This was the best bang for my buck that would get the job done.

Good Vacuum. Auto-Empty and Mopping miss the mark

I really want to like this unit. It does a great job of mapping my house and methodically vacuuming. Other features, not so good.
There's 2 big flaws:
1) Mopping sucks. Fill up the water bin and send it. I have to crank up the water amount to see even a TRACE amount of moisture. (Ironic because when you do this is says to be careful because the floor will be too wet for the tire traction) If I have any other setting, its just dry wiping the floor. Mop a large area multiple times and water bin is still full. I've talked to customer service. They're sending a new water bin. How this is supposed to fix that problem is beyond me but I'll update if it does.
2) The Auto-Empty Station just doesn't cut it. I've had to manually empty the bin pretty much every time it cleans. The problem is any fuzz, dust-balls, or hair will plug up the dirt bin such that the Empty Station can't suck it out. I don't know if it's because the ports are too small or the suction too light. I've talked to customer service multiple times and gotten nothing more than generic (scripted) responses back. The ONLY solution I have found is to tell it to clean a small area. It will then go back to the station and empty itself. Since there's little dirt (small area) it's able to pull it out. However, that kind of defeats the point of automate it and leave it be since this can only be done by Manually telling it to do small areas at a time within the App (can't be done via Alexa).
Automation:
-Even though it says it can in the ads and in the Alexa Skill instructions, saying 'Alexa clean the kitchen' really just tells it to Auto Clean the whole floor. I spoke to Customer Service and they said it's not a function the T8 can do. I checked the alexa app and it has an *next to that feature saying it's only for certain models. I was under the impression I was getting the latest/greatest from Deebot. Odd that it's not as smart as other models.
-There is no way to control the Auto-Empty Station. The App (and Alexa Integration) needs a way to force it to auto-clean after a time period or (better yet) after cleaning a room. The app has a great feature that lets you set the cleaning order (which room first) and suction power per room and 1x or 2x clean per room. Just add the feature to go back and empty it's dirt bin after cleaning each room.
-OR improve the Alexa Integration such that I can stack commands in a Routine - clean kitchen, empty bin, clean living room, empty bin...?
-Room Naming is dumb. They have a few names to select from that don't really work. no way to customize the room name. Not that it matters anyways cause there's no way to use names in Alexa...
Mopping:
It's a good concept but falls way short. I had planned to test out the 'basic' mopping feature before ordering the $100 addon that is supposed to be better. However, the basic feature sucks (in a bad way). Also, I recently discovered that the addon version (vibrating mop pad) will only allow you to use the disposable mop pads instead of the washable pads. It's DUMB they didn't include the better mopping feature to begin with but to charge $100 + force you to buy disposables? Give me a break.
Vacuuming:
As to the actual vacuuming. It's great at this job. It's eaten some shoe strings and phone cords. I had hoped it would be better at avoiding those but it doesn't.

Excellent vacuum. I've own a couple of iRobot and one has the feature to go back and recharge but can never do that. However, the Deebot can. And i like it how it maps out the route so i can see where it is in the house. Would buy Ecovacs brand again.

I was on the fence about how good this vac would work,
after a learning curve it's great.
First you have to let it map your house after that you can auto clean or set certain room to clean.
make Sure to check the dust bin on the first making a map of the house. we have cats and after it went under beds the bin filled fast. The bot will not return to empty a full bin by its self it will empty after a task has been completed.
after the first couple of cleans the bin is more than enough.
the mopping is more for maintenance to keep floors clean.
the bot will avoid carpet when mopping
all in all very pleased with ecovavc
I did call customer service about the bin not emptying when full, very surprised to have call answered very fast and got the answer.
you will find you house has hidden dirt it will find.
last keep the bot maintained clean the filter and bin reg. you should have good luck

I’ve had a base roomba for many years and always loved it. This was on sale for Black Friday but even if it wasn’t it is a great value compared to the newer over end priced roombas. This has an auto empty bin, can hold multiple floor maps, when it runs is doesn’t randomly move about, but cleans in nice lines. The base mopping feature is a nice inclusion but tbh even with the pro mop attachment it still is just an okay mop. This thing also never bumps into thinks like my roomba would. It’s got a smart detection system so it can actually clean very well around objects on the ground. Super happy with the purchase highly recommend.
