Younger viewers may not remember Eddie the Eagle, but his participation in the Calgary Winter Olympics is portrayed in this film. Dramatic license aside, it is a heart tugging story that even Eddie himself enjoyed! You will too, if you enjoy underdog stories in the world of sports, even if all the facts are not exact.

This is such a great movie for the family! It shows part of the life story of an English Ski-Jumper. It goes through his life in short and shows the trials and tributes of one strong person. Great movie to enjoy as we watch it all the time!

I enjoyed watching this movie, about not giving up and keep going until you obtain your dreams. Even though Eddie is constantly put down and facing roadblocks, it is nice to see him rise above.

This is a tremendously uplifting movie! About a person, unwilling to accept that he is not good enough to be an Olympian! He takes on the sport of ski jumping, having never tried it before, to qualify for the Olympics. It is based on a true story, so anyone that remembers Eddie the Eagle from the Olympics, this movie displays the journey to the Olympics in such a perfect way. I would recommend this movie to ANYONE! It is for all ages, to show that never give up attitude, to show that losing is okay and not the end of the world, and if you do fail, get up and try again! Watch this movie, own this movie, and strive to live like Eddie the Eagle - never give up!

A real life underdog story based on the inspiring true story, Eddie the Eagle will entertain the whole family. Taron Egerton (last seen in the spy thriller Kingsman) delivers a convincing portrayal of the lovable but athletically challenged Eddie who dreams of becoming an Olympian. Hugh Jackman gives star power support as an American coach who trains the determined Eddie. The movie is predictable, but heartwarming nonetheless and the synthesized soundtrack brings one into the era perfectly. Definitely worth owning!

Eddie the Eagle is a great heart warming story the whole family can enjoy. All his life Eddie Edwards was told he was not good enough and did not have the right looks to make or be on the British Olympic team. Defying all the odds and obstacles, Eddie fights to earn his spot on the team with some help from a failed American Ski Jumper who lost his chance years before for gold. Eddie the Eagle will soar into your hearts and not leave a dry eye when he is finished. Totally recommended.

Fun if Not Groundbreaking Sports Movie Territory

More than anything Eddie the Eagle, a new inspirational sports dramedy not from Disney, gets away with being as cute as it is largely due to the fact it doesn't come from Disney. Instead, Eddie the Eagle comes to us courtesy of Marv Films, the British production company owned by director Matthew Vaughn (Stardust, Kingsman). Vaughn, who surprised no one with the quality of Kingsman last year, but did slightly stun a few with its box office capabilities also discovered Taron Egerton in the process. Egerton cements his rising star status in this somewhat unexpected follow-up for the new collaborators. Fortunately, this direction is an interesting one and the film works as there truly hasn't been much in the way of a credible sports story as of late where we don't inherently expect the sentimentality factor to be over the top. With the mouse house not having its hands on this property though we expect something slightly more mature, something a little closer to reality in the ways of the world and while Eddie the Eagle is certainly cute and even somewhat fantastical in certain aspects it never makes excuses for its titular characters shortcomings. Instead, it simply uses those real world circumstances to push our peculiar protagonist further. And thus, the reason Eddie the Eagle succeeds as well as it does despite being pure formula-it understands its hero and it breaks down the walls that people were afraid to climb over in Eddie's real life introducing us to a fully faceted character and not just a one note joke who can't take a hint from reality. Yes, Eddie the Eagle is formulaic in every way imaginable as you inevitably know all the beats the film will hit from the training montage down to the late second act obstacle that will be greatly overcome in the third, but it is entertaining formula and is made with such affection and honest aspiration one can't help but to want to cheer for Eddie just as all those at the 1988 Calgary Winter Olympics did.

I wasn't too sure about this movie when I saw the previews but based on what friends told me and the fact that it is based on a true story I decided I had to see it. I am definitely glad I did. It has to be one of the most inspiring movies I've seen in a long time. If you think you can't do something or everyone tells you you can't, just watch this movie and you will be inspired to try whatever it is you choose to do.

When my husband, son and I went to the movies and saw this, we weren't expecting much. But we are huge Wolverine fans and Hugh IS Wolverine, so we thought "What the Heck" The 3 of us left amazed and in love with this movie!!! So, so good. On the way home we were looking up facts about Eddie the Eagle's life and talked about it for quite awhile. Recommend for all, not just Wolverine fans.

This movie makes you believe in miracle and it makes you feel good inside to see people to overcome there dreams when people around them tell them that there can do that. So this movie has a very positive story. And the story is that if you want to follow your dreams, don't let people stop you for that and keep on fighting for what you believe in your heart

Missed this movie in the theaters, but was not disappointed. Taron Egerton and Hugh Jackman have a chemistry on screen that you wouldn't think would work, but does so surprisingly well in this retelling of a true story of Eddie "The Eagle" and the road of perseverance he had to endure to accomplish his dream to become an Olympian.
