Works "faster" than older Tivo's

This is starting out to be a good upgrade. The fast forwarding and restarting is crisper than my older TiVo - makes it great to watch football and move between plays with the 15 second instant advance.
4K works great and the Netflix built in app works much much faster.
I was able to go to an Xfinity store and put in the cablecard myself. Pretty straight forward. Previously a technician had to visit to make a TiVo work.

Wow! That really sums up my experience with the TiVo Edge. I am simply amazed that it does everything really well. I'm one of the few cable subscribers left and anticipate being one as long as it remains viable. So, I took the plunge on the TiVo Edge and am I ever glad I did. Initial setup was flawless. As far as being a cable box replacement, it blows away what my cable company provided. As for recording TV programs, it is unbeatable in ease of use. It manages so many recordings in such a user friendly way. 2TB of storage is great. I recorded ALL college football bowl games and the CFP plus all the NFL playoffs--all in HD and it used barely any space on the drive! Additionally, the streaming capability of the TiVo Edge put my Roku to shame! Finally, the TiVo remote--magnificent! All things considered, I highly recommend this to all of you out there who don't mind paying for a quality video experience. It is worth every penny. So go ahead, treat yourself to the TiVo Edge, you'll wonder why you didn't do it sooner.

Good upgrade for our Roamio

I was a little worried about the v4 Interface, we were still using the older v3 interface on our Roamio. After a few minutes with it, it is nice. The Netflix app is almost instantaneous. The only issue we had was the Tivo supports HDCP 2.2, my receiver supports HDCP 2.2 but my TV was not a 4k tv. The Tivo and the receiver would not step down to HDCP 1.4 so I would get an error from the receiver on the TV. I found that there was a diagnostic mode on my Marrantz receiver to force it to HDCP 1.4 (1080P). Once I did that every thing was fine. Now all my devices support HDMI-CEC so the receiver swaps between inputs automatically. I am happy I upgraded.

I purchased this TiVo unit to replace one I had installed a dozen years ago. The new Edge model is a huge improvement over the earlier device, with vastly increased storage, easier operation and much better options for access to cable programs and streaming services. The old TiVo was excellent, but the new version is several steps up. Highly recommended.

Great features overall. Lacks apps like DisneyPlus and a few others, but most major apps are supported so you can use one device. Interface is decent and seems to be well organized.
My big issue is set up. If you see connecting to a cable provider you will need a cable card, but you will also probably need a tuning adapter. This is a separate device to tune about half of the channels you get. This is not well documented unless you start to search. Spectrum (our provider) doesn’t make it easy either. It took about 5 calls to TIVO, 5 calls to Spectrum and a visit to get it all working. The visit was due to poor signal strength. The TiVo box is a bit more sensitive than the cable box. Now that it’s working I am happy. Just be ready to put in some effort and do your homework first.

Much better than the Bolt

I dont know why the Bolt was noisy, hot, and a strange curved design, but the Edge makes up for it. A very svelte design thats quiet and gets the job done. Its a little pricey however...i think shave a $100 off the price and it becomes much more attractive. No problems after a couple months of owning it. I really like the Tivo software and Tivo mini concept for satellite rooms when used with cable content, but yes, the apps are nothing to get excited about. Tivo...you guys desperately need real TV apps, but then again i guess that would not be good for the cable guys. Im a traditional (Spectrum) cable TV consumer and will probably use Tivo for as long as i can in that context, but i do sometimes wonder if the yearly subscription is worth what I get.

Love this unit, has everything I need. Only thing is getting with your cable company to get cable card to sync has always been an issue. Takes several calls till you get lucky to get someone that knows what to do.

If you're like me and refuse to get rid of cable despite SO MANY REASONS to do so, then you can't go wrong with the Tivo Edge. Fastest DVR I've ever used, great interface, really makes the cable experience better.
There are some drawbacks: sometimes the channel lineup is inaccurate and the DVR will consider episodes "New" even after they air resulting in multiple recordings, but once you figure the system out it rocks. I've always wanted a Tivo and this has been a great experience thus far.

I was extremely nervous about buying this TiVo Edge, because of my current situation with cable service this was the best thing for me to do. First off it's stylish, remote is a good size and weighted pretty good. Setup wasn't to bad I managed to get it all up and running without any help except from the cable ISP (Spectrum) to activate the digital tuner box needed along with the cable card. I also setup 2 other bedrooms with the TiVo mini Vox's to have whole house through ethernet cable connection, (house was already wired). Getting use to the guide format and just the general setting was a learning curve but a lot easier to use now 30 days in. We really like the search with voice and skip function. All in all I'm happy with the initial cost for everything including the subscription for TiVo, but in the long run I'll be saving money in my current situation.

Recently moved and switched service providers.
We were very happy with our AT&T U-verse service, including the DVR we were using supplied by them, but couldn't get it in the new neighborhood.
Did a little research and found TiVo, and it looked promising.
Spectrum came and installed the cable card and tuner required, and had us up and running quickly.
This turned out to be a great decision - the service has been excellent - I can't see us ever going without it now.

After two disastrous BOLT units (bought from Tivo) that failed, I swallowed the loss on the last unit and came to Best Buy for the Tivo Edge for Cable. It works properly and is reliable. I’m a long-time Tivo user who is happy to have a working unit again.

The first Tivo Edge we received was dead on arrival. It would not load past the first screen. Best Buy sent us a new one and now it randomly restarts occasionally. You can be watching something and it will go black and restart. It also doesn't appear to have Disney+ or Apple+ on it either. My kids love Disney+ and now I am having to load that on another device.
It is also a bit noisy and can easily be heard while in use or not. This could have been an easy win due to the 4K HDR and upscaling and instead it is limited and has software issues it appears.

The long term cost is cheaper to have Tivo with a cable card.
