Two side printing is a challenge

I got this printer last week and had to return it as I had challenges from day one. - Two side printing was never easy. Most of the time, paper gets jammed. - Ink spills which results with black borders - Paper is not fed properly when it goes inside the printer, which results in bad output. - Ink goes our pretty fast. Pros: Easy to setup and use

Terrible product, prints missing lines &characters

The set up on this product was fairly easy, but once I started printing, the quality was horrible. I first printed an article from my computer, and there were lines of text missing, and blank lines along the print areas. The colors were way off too. Some prints came out ok when I tried again later, but making copies proved to be a disappointment as well. The edges of print were blurred for some unknown reason on a few of the copies (the copy was still and secure on the screen). A warning also came up on the screen stating the black ink cartridge was/is out. I literally had only made about 10-15 copies at that point. Definitely taking this back, and choosing a different product. I have heard Epson is supposed to be one of the best brands of printers. This model is a fail. Perhaps it is just defective, but I'm not giving it another chance.

Nice print quality but has some problems

Overall nice all-in-one device but has some problems. Here is a breakdown. Printer quality: As with most Epson printers, the image quality is excellent. If you encounter quality problems, it is most likely due to an incorrect setting in the app you're printing from. The printer is also fast. Scanner: The scanner is satisfactory. The scan bed will accommodate an 8.5 x 11. This feature is designed for office needs such as basic document copying/scanning/faxing and quick photo captures. It doesn't have the quality or capabilities of Epson's photo scanners. Wireless connection: Easy to set up but took several tries to recognize my wireless network. I haven't had any problems connecting after set up. Control panel: The control panel is easy to use. Buttons navigate the user interface. It is NOT a touch screen. The menu is simple and logical. If the screen is ever damaged, most of the features can also be accessed from the desktop app. The panel can be positioned flat or angled. Many promotional videos are deceiving and make it appear as if the panel is motorized and tilts when powered on. This is false. The panel angle is manually adjusted by hand. If the printer rests high on a shelf, the flat position will allow you to see the screen from below. If the printer is placed on a desktop or lower shelf, the angle will allow you to see the screen from above. Paper feed: Most printers currently on the market have an internal paper tray which curls the paper as it feeds. This model has a rear, open tray which feeds the paper at an angle. This allows you to use a wider variety of paper types and sizes. While the tray will accept a maximum width of 8.5 inches, the print settings can be customized to accept longer lengths. I was able to feed a sheet 8.5 wide x 19 inches long. I cannot find any documentation of the length limit. The encountered regular paper jams when loading a single, thick sheet. It seems to function better when the tray is loaded with multiple sheets. One of the best features is a hinged panel that covers the opening when the tray is not in use. This feature will prevent dust or debris from falling inside the printer and jamming it. The printer claims to have duplexing capabilities (automatically printing on the front and back), however, I have not figured out how to activate this feature. I suspect it may not be an option in the apps I'm using. Be careful when clearing paper jams. The duplex feature allows you to expose the paper feed rollers. I accidentally activated the rollers while the compartment was open. The rollers caught a stack of paper instead of a single sheet and caused a terrible jam. Envelopes: While this printer will accept envelopes, I had very poor results. The envelopes emerged with large smears of ink, as if they made physical contact with the print heads. Some higher-end models have a level which manually adjusts the print heads for thicker paper. This model does not have that adjustment. I print a lot of envelopes so this is a major flaw for me. Ink: Ink consumption is average. As with most inkjet printers, frequent use is key. If the printer is unused for a long period, the ink heads will dry out and needed to be cleaned. This will require you to waste a lot of ink during maintenance. One of the best features is having four separate ink cartridges. This feature reduces waste. All color can be purchased separately. Cyan, magenta, and yellow can be purchased as a 3-pack for additional savings. I printed 100 wedding invitation sets (included: invitation card, response card, mailing envelope, inside envelope, return envelope, and ceremony detail card) and only had to refill each cartridge once. Price: This model was on sale which made it good value for the price. I would NOT have paid full price for it. At full price, there are far better models available for just a little more money.

I agonized and researched my options for a few months before finally settling the decision to get this one. At first I was a bit resentful of the fact that pretty much all of my first choices were sold out, and I felt rushed into choosing because I really needed a printer, both personally and professionally and didn't have the time to keep waiting around for my first picks to come ba k in stock. I am SO happy that I did NOT end up spending 4 times this amount on something that i had convinced myself I needed but would have been mad at myself later about! Would I like to maybe upgrade one or 2 things to make it a little more fun, sure. But honestly I'm super happy about the price, quality, ease of use, and cost to keep it up for what I need it for! Super sharp and beautiful printouts for a fraction of the cost!

The printer has a smaller footprint than other similar printers, which is nice. The paper loads vertically in the back, which means you can't put as much paper in at one time, but the printing path is straight through -- more reliable than front-loading printers. Setup was very easy; the directions were clear and everything worked as described. Scanning and printing documents in color and black-and-white are easy and work well. Printing speed is just OK. I ran out of black ink in the color pack pretty quickly, and realized that I had to set B&W docs to print in B&W explicitly. (That is, not the printer's fault.) Then the printer used the separate black cartridge. I have not yet tried printing photos. So far, this printer seems like a good choice for my low-volume printing and scanning needs.

Got this printer on sale just to have a scanner handy since I didn't have one. Does the job well. Great step by step setup instructions and the printer works well. Printing from phone or Internet WiFi is super easy, every device connected to the house wifi has been able to print without any problems. Not super noisy but not quiet. But the pictures are printed well with no washing of colors or anything. It's true image to print quality. If you have the money for a "nicer" printer over 100-150 bucks then go for it. If you want a budget one with basic and useful features then snag this one. Just a tip though: if you can, get an extra cartridge of ink, since the one it comes with isn't a full one. Or at least it didn't seem like it was with the few things I have printed on it.

So, this printer itself was easy to set up, but actually connecting to the internet was a gigantic hassle. And, if course most of the troubleshooting tips are online. That would be great if the website worked. Not sure if it was just down when I needed it or what, but I ended up just doing a general Google search to figure out the connectivity problem. It burns thru ink SO fast, and the ink cartridges are small (less than 200 pages from the black 212xl cartridge), and the ink is SUPER hard to find and pricey for the tiny amount of ink you get. Wish I would have known THAT. Anyway, the printer DOES print exactly as expected. I love that it can print on both sides of the paper. I haven't tried scanning or printing photos (yet), but as of right now, I don't anticipate any issues. The display screen is backlit, so even in low light it's easy to read. The printer is small enough to sit on top of the desk without taking up too much space, and since the whole top is flat, I feel confident placing my laptop on the top when I'm not using either machine. Overall, I'm happy with this purchase.

I was looking for the right printer for a very long time and finally decided to go with this one. There were more cheaper options but they were all sold out or somehow weren’t available for delivery. I visited Bestbuy one day and decided to purchase this All-in-one printer. It’s not too bulky so it doesn’t take up that much space. The set up was easy and quality is better than my expectation. It’s very easy to use and contains all essential duties such as scan, copy and fax. If you are looking for simple scanning and copying, this printer is definitely a great option.

A good value for the price. Though lightweight, this printer is perfect for home-office and personal use. User-friendly, with easy to read instructions and online help from Epson that's available 24/7. There was a brief issue with color printing, but it stopped after running the recommended checks. I had just changed the yellow ink cartridge, so that may have been the reason. I've only had this printer about a month, but I'm happy with it. I do recommend Epson's XP-4100 Wireless All-In-One Inkjet Printer for it's compact size, ease of use and easy to change inkjet cartridges, and Epson's on-line help. Just be aware that it is VERY lightweight; the pull-out tray to catch papers seems as though it could easily be broken off. Keep this printer out of the main flow of human traffic, especially if you have children and pets.
