The Epson T822 multi-ink cartridges with XL in Black, and Standard in Cyan, Magenta, Yellow produce consistent, high-quality copies. Replacing any of the cartridges is a cinch. Yes, these ink cartridges are expensive, but so were the ones for the printer I had before. They last longer, especially for the individual colors that can be replaced one at a time as needed, instead of having to discard the one all-colors cartridge. And I had to pay attention to change the black color setting to all-black, because any hint of gray requires the color cartridge to kick in, resulting in faint, uneven output. I think the Epson multi-function printer and its Epson ink cartridges make the perfect team for getting perfect results.
