Customers are saying
Customers consistently note the excellent camera quality, long battery life, and ease of use of the SoloCam S40. The solar panel is a frequently praised feature, enabling convenient and continuous operation. While some users experienced issues with notifications and concerns about water resistance, the positive feedback on features like night vision, motion detection, and the spotlight significantly outweighs the negative comments. The built-in storage, eliminating subscription fees, is another highly valued aspect.

My Review of the Eufy SoloCam S40 (After 1 Month o
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I’ve been using the Eufy SoloCam S40 for about a month now, and overall, I’m really happy with it. Setup was super easy—just mounted it, connected it through the app, and it was ready to go. No hub needed, which was a plus. The 2K video quality is sharp and clear, even at night. The built-in spotlight actually makes a big difference—it lights up the area when motion is detected, and that full-color night vision is way more helpful than grainy black-and-white footage. What really sold me was the solar charging. I get a few hours of sun a day, and that’s been enough to keep it running without plugging it in once. Eufy says two hours a day is enough, and so far, that’s been accurate. It’s been hands-off in the best way. The motion detection is solid. It’s smart enough to tell people apart from other motion (like tree branches or animals), and you can set activity zones to avoid false alerts. The alerts come through fast, and the two-way audio works great when I need to speak to someone at the door. Also worth noting: no subscription required. It comes with built-in storage, which was a big reason I went with Eufy over some other brands.

BEST SECURITY CAMERA HANDS DOWN
||Posted . Owned for 1 month when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. The eufy security camera is everything you’d need! I bought these to replace my ring cameras I was tired of having to change my batteries every month and a half. Plus I didn’t like paying a subscription to have my cameras you know record? Why else would anyone buy cameras why should you have subscriptions for that? Anyway with the eufy solar solo cam you don’t need to change batteries as long as you have it in adequate sunlight, I have 3 of them 2 of them are on 100 percent and the other one is just below since it doesn’t get much light. You don’t have to pay for a subscription for these cameras it comes with 8gb internal memory which is more than enough space for a while, and if it’s not you can also pay for a subscription if you so please, OR you can buy the eufy home base and be able to store videos up to 8 terabytes which is equal to 8000gbs. The spot light on the camera is also pretty bright it can light up my whole backyard, which is pretty impressive for a solar 4K camera and floodlight. The video quality is top notch, the camera itself is just superior to everything that I’ve used and I couldn’t be happier to get them and secure my house!

Great camera
||Posted . Owned for 2 months when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Awesome camera! The view is clear night or day. Night vison is good. The distance is good, shows plenty. From my home to across the street over 100 feet it shows everything. Solar battery seems to always be charged. Ran the camera for almost a hour at night watching it throught the app and it only went down 2%. I paid 200 and now its 99 so a a bit upset about that.

Great no-maintenance cost camera.
||Posted . Owned for 2 weeks when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. The video quality is really good and the local storage is very useful, no more subscription for me. However, when I receive a notification and click to view the video it appears white for a few seconds and sometimes I have to reload it so I can view the recording. Zoom is decent, not as much as I would like but good enough, HDR does need some improvements, highlights as well.

The best yet for me.
||Posted . Owned for 2 weeks when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I was trying to find out what was killing the fawns near where I live. I got two security cameras and so far they’ve picked up a lot of activity of foxes on my property in the evenings and mornings. The images have caught the foxes playing, and also the deer crossing through my property. There is no evidence yet as to if the foxes are killing the deer, but it is nice to see clear images coming from the security camera themselves. I am impressed with the distance that they can cover. I am not impressed with trying to add pictures for this review, because it keeps asking me to answer the question would I suggest this to a friend, but when I do answer this question, it keeps asking me if I would suggest this to a friend. I know there is a glitch in the system, so I’m trying to get this review posted. I would definitely suggest this camera for a friend. Hopefully I can get the pictures loaded so that you can see the results.

Nice upgrade from 1080P
|Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I currently have 2 1080P Eufy wi-fi security cameras that I have used for over a year as well as an Eufy Smart wi-fi 2k video doorbell for 18 months – and while all have worked well, they required a base to store the videos and their batteries needed charging at some point. So, I was excited to get a chance to check out this new solar unit with built in storage. I wasn’t disappointed as it was easy to setup and relatively easy to install. If you are new to security cameras and/or want a compact all-in-one unit not requiring a base – I would recommend this unit. Nicely packaged and comes with; Security Camera (seemed kind of shaped like a cow bell to me) with 8GB eMMC memory (not expandable) and 600 Lumens spotlight. Also has an onboard 13400mAh battery. It also meets IP67 standard - yeah that didn’t mean anything to me either so looked it up and it deals with how watertight, heat resistant, etc. a unit is. Also has 90dB siren (which I did not test). 3-foot 6-inch USB-C charging cable (to be used for initial charge which took several hours) No AC brick/adapter to plug charging cable into. This seems the case with many manufacturers now, I guess they assume everyone has several lying around. Which is certainly the case with me – they are everywhere in my house. Cone shaped camera mount including screws and wall inserts to secure screws. Quick Start Guide 24/7 Monitoring Security Warning stickers Positives; Was very easy to un-pack and setup following nicely detailed instructions. But before I did anything though I charged the unit which took several hours. I already had Eufy app installed so I just chose the add a device option, selected the SoloCam from the list of products provided and it walked me through synching and installation. It uses 2.4 Ghz band to connect to wi-fi so I made sure my phone was using that band before adding unit. Once added thru the app it will walk you thru installation options as well as do’s and don’ts. Also once connected you can access the camera through app regardless of wi-fi or cellular connection and can be done remotely from anywhere. Once added there are multiple settings, etc. you have access to. Since I have other devices, I was able to re-order the way they showed up in the app home screen. You can also choose whether there is a water mark, date/time or both or none on your recordings as well as rename the camera. Set-up how you receive alerts, set whether spotlight comes on and how bright, night vision, motion detection sensitivity, power manger, video quality, storage, wi-fi connection, there is a mounting guide, about device and option to restart or remove device. After installation you will want to check Power manager to ensure that the solar panel is working and getting enough sun to function. You can run on battery and documentation states you can do so for up 4 months – but why pay for solar and not use it? Deciding placement of the camera was more difficult than I expected. The new unit is maybe 3 times larger than my old 1080P and maybe twice as heavy. I couldn’t just put it where my 1080P camera was as would not get enough sun to function and the camera mount is larger too, so screw holes don’t match. With that in mind I decided to mount camera on my patio overhang ensuring that some of the mounting holes/screws went directly into the wood structure under my stucco - as I didn’t want it falling off. Setting angle of camera. etc. is easy as you just tighten the camera mount once it’s in place. The camera is connected using AES 128 -bit encryption. Camera is only about 12 feet and one wall away from my satellite mesh unit so wi-fi signal is very strong and I have no problem streaming/viewing 2K video. Day and Night motion and sound detection are extremely good with very little lag time starting recording. You can set the detection level as well as recording all movement or only humans – it uses its built in AI to decide. I have it set to all, but I had to set the detection level down a couple of notches as sound set it off as did moving tree branches. You have option to view live. It provides accurate and fast recording with 2K resolution being very good with nice color. Doesn’t get nearly as grainy when zooming in as my 1080P did. Field of view is great and records in color at night when you have the flood light option on. But I use infrared only so have spotlight turned off – I only used once for this review. 2-way audio is available also - you can also speak through the camera speaker which again I only tried once and its reasonably clear - would have been good to scare trick or treaters though I think! It is very easy to download an event onto your phone if you want to save it. Can be used with Alexa or Google but I didn’t try either. 1-year limited warranty. Negatives; Can’t add/upgrade memory. It would be pretty much perfect if you could upgrade but having access to memory/battery probably would compromise the weather sealing/rating. Worry about elements affecting camera over time. I live in desert so snow and even rain really aren’t an issue – it’s the heat. I had problems with doorbell overheating in the summer and shutting down. Had to move to more shaded side of doorway. This camera will get morning sun so hopefully it won’t overheat. There is no computer application to work with Windows, etc. So, you must use android or apple to access. Since I already had the base, it would be nice to have option to use its storage. If camera is stolen, you won’t have any record as memory will be gone with the camera. To help avoid this I installed camera so that a ladder is needed to access it. I guess an argument could be made that base could be taken if home broken into. Overall, very nice and recommend. Just make sure you go through all the options in the app so you can fine tune to your liking.

Does the job
|Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.[Pro: Video quality is clear.] Although 1080p uses less space when recording events, I much rather have better quality clips. The 1440p/2K video is very crisp, and this spotlight camera captures details that would be very important if an unfortunate situation were to occur. [Pro: Motion Detection and notifications are quick.] The S40 cam has very fast response times when detecting motion and sending alerts. Although I have the camera placed in a low traffic area, I knew quickly when activity was happening in my yard. Furthermore, I didn’t have any false positives which is a major plus. [Pro: Bright cameras help for great night vision] Night vision is adequate without the light, but the spotlight creates great recordings. Because the camera is big and sturdy, it has a larger light than most outdoor security cameras. [Pro: Battery life is great.] Battery life is good, but even better for those low traffic areas that still might need the presence of security. [Con: Solar panel placement is awkward.] The only major drawback for this camera is that the mount might not help it stick out far enough to catch a lot of sun. You might need utilize an external solar panel with a USB C connection unless you don’t mind unscrewing the camera from the mount to charge it up. [Con: Storage is not removeable] 8GB is enough space to record clips over multiple months. However, I prefer to be able to expand that video storage and to transfer the card physically to my computer. This is not a major issue, but more of a preference. Overall, the Solar Powered Eufy Spotlight Camera is not perfect, but very excellent in the things that it can do. It performs in a manner in which it meets all of my security needs.

Wow almost perfect
|Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Great camera it's clear . It really is solar power . Now I tried this inside my hallway where the lights are on most of the day and it does keep the battery full. The speaker is loud to where I had to lower the volume. The flood light is bright . It brings the mount and the USB cable to charge it. The only thing I wish it had was a sdcard slot to upgrade the memory. It a big camera but that's because of the solar panel on top. The recordings stay inside the built in storage . You don't need a monthly subscription. Anker did a good job with this one

Eufy Solar Spotlight Camera.
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. This Eufy camera is very good. Hs a very clear picture and records clear video. Battery last very long time. I bought 2 of these cameras 3 years ago and have not had to plug them in to recharge. One of them hs gotten down to a out 40% on the battery during the winter months. But with the little sun and not much human activity...mostly fox and stray cats along with racoons that set camera off it has held off pretty good. Spot.light is bright enough for area of coverage. Again a very good camera.

Another great product from Eufy!
|Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I must confess that up to a few weeks ago I wasn't aware that Eufy (made by Anker) smart home products were actual contenders in the smart home industry. I acquired a smart lock made by them and paired it with this outdoor camera so that I could keep an eye on my property. I am glad that I found out about this company! The camera came packaged in all recyclable materials, thanks for not using Styrofoam, Eufy! From the time I opened the package, I could tell that the product is made of high quality materials and should last a long time. Since I already had created an account and downloaded the Eufy Security app, adding the camera to my network was a breeze. The camera comes with a heavy duty mounting bracket and all the hardware necessary to install it. It took less than 15 minutes to have the camera added to the network and the app, then I had to find a suitable location. Since the camera top is mostly a solar panel that keeps the batteries charged, it is best to find a location that has plenty of light/sunshine available, don't put it under an eve or where there might be obstructions that could reduce the efficacy of the solar panel. Once I found the right location that maximized the angle of view, I set to configuring my alerts. With the app you can use the live view option with or without the auxiliary light on and you can even speak to a person in the camera view, albeit there is a bit of lag from when you press the microphone button and start speaking to when the person on the other end hears your voice. You can also check the battery level and view recorded events in the camera's internal memory. I love being able to use one app to view/control all my smart home devices, and even though the app GUI is not the most user friendly, it works OK. If you're on the fence and don't recognize the brand, don't be afraid to give them a try. I did and would recommend this product to anyone who is looking for a good outdoor solar powered security camera.

Great night vision
|Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. This camera has a great picture. It doesn't matter whether its daytime, nighttime B&W or color, this is the best security cam picture I have had. This picture is better than some cameras I have tried that claim twice the resolution. I love that the free service version delivers everything I need (vs some competitors). I also like that it begins recording much faster than other systems. My current security cam system doesn't record a delivery person on my front porch until they are walking out of the gate after walking up, placing a package, turning around and leaving. This camera begins recording as soon as the person walks in through the gate and captures the entire event. The software identifies humans and has yet to alert me that an insect or animal is moving around the courtyard (again, unlike competitors I have used). The app picks out and highlights the person it identified and places their image in a circle below the video of the event. This circle is often enough for me to recognize the visitor. Several places I thought I wanted to add a security camera got little Sunlight. The place I set up the camera gets plenty of sun and the battery charge indicator has shown nothing but a full charge so far. The only issue I encountered setting up this camera was that it seemed to want me to start over after connecting to my WiFi router. At first I thought the software had a glitch. I believe that since my WiFi Mesh system is multiband and automatic that the router was connecting the camera to 5G (which is not supported). I have had a similar experience with 2 other devices. Unlike my old system where I assigned a new device to one of the WiFi bands, this router picks a band without my input. Once it assigns the low band it's good to go. this made for a number of attempts to set the camera up but once it got on the correct band it's worked perfectly. I blame this on my mesh WiFi system, not the camera but still a minor issue. All in and all done, I love this camera.
