Customers value the FTW Edition NVIDIA GeForce GTX 1070 8GB graphics card for its strong performance in both older and newer games, allowing users to play at high frame rates. The effective cooling system is also praised, making overclocking easier and keeping temperatures low. However, some customers note that the card's large size may be a consideration for certain builds.

For anyone wonder, yes this is indeed the FTW edition card, not the Black edition as the product description states. The model number is for the FTW edition and I did indeed receive the FTW edition. One other quick side note before I get into the full review, I am fairly certain Best Buy has some deal worked out where these cards ship direct from EVGA. It shipped out of southern California, where EVGA is located, and it listed EVGA on the shipper info for UPS. And even though I didn't pay for faster shipping, the card got delivered in just 1 day. Other stuff I ordered the same day won't get here until next week, Best Buy's warehouse processing simply isn't that fast.
On to the review. Not much I can say about the card that you can't already find online in professional reviews. The card is gorgeous, but massive due to the custom PSB. It's lateral width extends past what the normal spacing for a PCI-e card, so I had to remove the shroud for the side intake on my HAF-X case. That's not really a big deal though as that shroud doesn't really make much of a difference.
Being a bigger card also means it's heavier, the metal shroud and backplate add to that weight even more. So I would suggest supporting the back end of the card if at all possible to prevent stress on the PCI-e slot. That also means being extra careful moving your case around after the card is installed.
Paired with a 2600K and 16GB of DDR3, I'm hitting 250fps in Overwatch and 100fps average in Crysis 3. These are numbers I observed while playing, not from a set benchmarking run. The card hits 2012MHz on it's own via GPU Boost 3.0. I have not messed with any manual overclocking as of yet.
The RGB lighting is nice, but I'd honestly prefer so save a few bucks. And speaking of money, you'll likely find this card cheaper on Amazon or Newegg, so if you do get it from Best Buy, make sure to get a price match. It's what I did as I had some Best Buy gift cards to spend.

The perfect card for the right monitor

We live in a world where the GTX 1070 is the third best graphics card on the market - and that makes it the best value for most people. If you have 1440 regular or 1080 ultrawide monitor with a 60hz refresh, and want to run absolutely everything that exists now at ultra settings at 60FPS, this is the card you need. Getting a GTX 1080 or 1080ti would be a waste of money, as they'll output more frames than your monitor can display.
Now, what I said above is true of any GTX 1070. Why get this card? If you have RGB lighting, this card is a great addition to your case. If you want to overclock, this card couldn't make it easier - I'm running it stably with a +125mhz core overclock and +500mhz memory overclock. And keep in mind, with it being DDR memory, that +500 overclock is functionally a 1ghz overclock. You want both? Then it doesn't get better than this.

This card replaced a EVGA 780 SC Founders with 3 Gig of ram on my sons gaming computer. Months ago we tried the 970 and returned it because it did not perform as well as the 780 with some of the old games. The 1070 not only performs well with older games but provides a huge improvement with newer game titles. The new case design is also a big improvement over previous versions and the RGB LEDs allow you to match the color scheme (if you have one) of your computer. One thing to note, this is a big card. If you have limited space this may not be the card for you.

I was going to purchase the regular NVIDIA GTX 1070 but I heard that the FTW version has the updated heat sync which is something I'd rather have than not having it and risking a nuclear melt down.
Though as one might guess, this baby is pretty big and will add some heat to your build, but as long as you've got some good fans and airflow you should be fine.

The card is extremely smooth and cool running. I used the Prescision OC tool tom set an aggressive fan profile but really don't need it. Running Dragon Age 3 maxed out only raises the temperature to 35c! Rock solid investment for current and future games.

EVGA is a great company and stand by their products. This is an outstanding graphics card for the money right out of the box. 8gb memory, Acx 3.0 cooling, and a 256 bit interface / bandwidth card to boot, highly recommend!
