    SpectrumTV without cable box

By and large, I'm happy with Roku. In immediate family, we now have 3 Roku streaming devices, 4 Roku TVs, and 1 Roku soundbar. They are one of the cheapest ways to get the Spectrum app so that we don't need to pay for the Spectrum cable boxes. Of course, all of the streaming services (Netflix, Disney+, etc) are available, as well as a good number of "free to watch" apps (most of which are not that interesting). The main complaint I have is that there is no number pad on their remote, so you can't jump to a particular channel. (Using voice to jump to channel is not supported in the Spectrum app). Also, the dedicated buttons for certain services that can't be changed are annoying, especially since they are different on different remotes--and on older remotes, some services don't even exist anymore, so pretty useless buttons there. I also have an AppleTV with Spectrum app and got the $12 Spectrum remote for AppleTV. Still no number pad on remote, but its better than Roku, because you at least have a "guide" button that opens Spectrum app. You can do more with an ATV too, but of course it costs more.

Five stars doesn't mean it's a life-changing product. It just means it works as advertised. I got it to use the Spectrum app and avoid paying for set top boxes. I appreciate that it can operate the TV's on-off and volume functions so we can use only one remote. Easy to set up and works well.

The Winner is Roku... Not Apple TV or Amazon Fire

I absolutely love my Roku streaming device: • Setting up and using Roku is so easy. • Has a large variety of streaming services. • It is affordable and have it on my three TV’s. Having used both Apple TV and Amazon Fire, I'm sold on Roku and won't be going back.

I bought a Roku on the recommendation of my son and I have no complaints on making the purchase. Installing the device was easy, as is using the service. The voice remote works well and channels are easy to add (and remove). I am amazed at the number of free channels available and the extra viewing options I now have over the channels I get with my cable service.

I bought the Roku Express 4K+ to replace an older outdated Roku that I had for several years. This newer version is much faster in starting up and it has a better menu system. The 4K is a marked improvement over the older version, I am pleased with the performance that this small sleek unit can do. I do get an occasional error that I didn’t get with my previous Roku, a message will pop up saying that “something went wrong”, so I would have to press the “home” button and restart the channel that I was watching. One time I had to totally unplug the power to the Roku and reset it which did the trick to eliminate the error message. I hope this doesn’t continue to pester me with these errors.

Pretty easy to use and works without need for super careful pointing of the remote. Apparently the remote is delicious for crunching if you are a puppy, so don't forget to put it out of reach of young dogs.

Roku steaming device for older TV w/o Wifi

Bought this Roku streaming device for any older TV which does not have Wifi. Everything works as it should. I have a newer Smart TV purchased in Sept 2023 running on Roku for comparison. I was able to do everything and access all the Apps installed on my Smart TV by installing this streaming device on the older TV. Installation was fairly simple following the quick set-up instructions. Once all the Apps are installed as on the newer Smart TV … no issues in regards to accessing all the content when moving from one room (Smart TV) to another room of the house (Older TV without Wifi). So … if you have an older TV without Wifi but you love streaming content on your phone, tablet, or other smart tv … then just install this on the older TV you want to run Roku on.

First time having to use a Roku to pull in cable channels. The device works fine and does what it should. The process of no longer having a cable box is the flaw. Used to turn on the TV, it went to a channel at start up. To go to another channel, press the channel number into the remote. No more. If I had wanted direct TV, I would have subscribed. This acts just like it. Hit the home button on Roku. Scroll across to the cable TV ap. Hit the ap. Brings up a screen with multiple scroll up or scroll down options. Scroll up to the guide, press guide. Message pops up that says "do you want to keep watching (your cable provider)". Click yes. Takes you back to the screen to select the cable provider AGAIN. Finally gets you to the guide where you have to scroll through a few hundred channels to get to the one you want. Want to change channels? Bring the guide back up, scroll through channels again to get to where you want to go. It will toggle between last viewed channels but if one was channel 12 and the other was 602, to get to a third choice guess what? Bring up the guide again and scroll scroll scroll. I would really like to talk to whoever though eliminating direct channel access was a good idea. The Roku is well priced at about $30. Cable provider is now getting to the business of a device like Roku and they want $5 a month for it. In six months this Roku is paid for vs that. But I'm sure they both work the same which doesn't work for me. Stuck until I can find a better alternative.

I am very happy that I purchased this roku. I cannot say anything bad about this product. there is so much content to choose from, that it will take a lifetime to view it all. This will be the future of tv to streqm and choose what you want to watch. Its simple to set up and find what your looking for and I love the remote with voice, make searching so much faster then typing. I highly recommed that you go out and buy one.

Much Better Than Using Apps Through Your TV

I purchased this item due to the many difficulties that I've had with running streaming apps through the television. Especially after the TV is a few years old. Some TVs like Samsung will not let you use all of the app features either! This interface does it all. All of my apps load quickly and without incident every time. The Roku TV portion isn't bad either although I rarely use it. I wish manufacturers would just make a basic monitor for those of us that want to use a Roku device.

I upgraded to Roku Express 4K+ when I cut the cord to cable and I love it! It was easy to set up on my TV. It remembered all the apps I had on my old Roku and added the new apps that came with the new one. My TV is 10 years old and the picture quality is outstanding. I highly recommend it.
