To be honest, this was the first Final Fantasy game I have ever played, so I do not know how it compares to other games in the franchise. But as a stand-alone game, it is amazing. The graphics are unbelievable. The storyline is fun, the controls are great, and the open world is gigantic. I always thought Final Fantasy was a turn-based fighting game, but this game is a free-fighting style, which is extremely fun.

Have always been an avid follower of the FF series. This game is definitely a different approach to the series. Love the open world and active combat system. Graphics are excellent as well as the soundtrack. The story can be convoluted, but hoping that it will be cleared up as DLC is released. Definitely watch the movie that was released prior to the game to fully understand what is happening. Looking forward to the multiplayer capabilities in the future.

if you just got an xbox one s and a new 4k tv, this is the game to show off your new home entertainment system. Final fantasy games have always had the best graphics and FFXV is no exception. The sky, the landscapes, the buildings, even the main characters hair look photo realistic. Ive had older folks ask me what movie I'm watching because their eyes cannot discern that I'm playing a video game. In terms of game play, this is easy to pick up and get used to. it's no longer strictly turn based like the older final Fantasy games. still has RPG elements to it like leveling up, assigning skills, switching characters during battles to attack a monster's weak spot with the correct weapon/magical spell. its also an open world game where you can drive around (or fast travel) revisit old characters and quests, etc. it's quite a lengthy game in which you can easily spend over 100 hours on. notice for parents: while the game is rated T, it is easily leaning into the Mature rating due to overly sexualized female characters, especially right in the beginning of the game. and I'm not talking about just tight clothing, but extremely revealing that one would expect to find in grand theft auto games. there is limited cursing as well. i was hoping to play this game with my younger sister but opted to trade it back in because of the overly sexualized non playable characters. if that doesn't bother you and you're into rpg games and recently upgraded to an xbox one s + a 4k hdr TV, then this game is worth having in your library.

Having not touched a FF game since FF-X (Since all the ones after that got destroyed in reviews, didn't waste my time/money...figured I'd leave the series on a high note), I was super apprehensive about jumping into this one, even though the preview content looked promising. Take into account the negative reviews from people such as "It looks like PS2 graphics" or "this absolutely awful"; didn't help make it easier. I bit the bullet, pre-ordered, got it on release day, and sat down to play it. DOWNLOAD/INSTALL The download/install took a while (51GB; 41GB on Disc, 10GB over network) but not as bad as something like GTA-V. Once downloaded it still had to install. It let me start the game at ~50% installed, and never had a problem after that. COMBAT Once installed, I started my adventure. The combat was a LITTLE hard to get used to for the first 5-10 minutes (I Highly recommend doing the 5-10 minute tutorial in the beginning, makes the start of the game go much smoother) as the controls aren't super "common" for combat games, but before I knew it, I wasn't even thinking about it anymore, and was pulling off nasty full-team combos on mobs and rares/bosses. STORY The story seems a little "off" to start with, but after about 1-2 hours it gets back on the rails and I found myself fully invested, and making conspiracies of my own on who's doing what and where and why...etc. I am excited to see where the story takes me next! GRAPHICS Ok, I'll start by saying, I'm playing on an XBOX One-S, on a 70" 4K TV. This game is beyond gorgeous. The cutscenes alone had me like "Holy, this is where we are with technology now?" Every little detail in the world is built with TLC, and it shows (Even the burn pattern on a piece of toast...seriously). I'm blown away. Whoever said this looks like PS2 graphics needs to go see an Optometrist and get their eyes checked and stop playing on a 90's Tube TV. OVERALL 5/5 I'm about 9 hours in, and I'm enjoying every minute of it. If you're feeling on the fence about this, I hope my review has helped shine some light for you on this wonderful game and put to bed any doubts you may have. If it wasn't for me being at work today, I 100% would be hunkered down at home playing till I couldn't keep my eyes open anymore.

I don't like turn based combat so when I heard about an open world with real time combat, I decided to try out final fantasy. It's great! Good story, great graphics. Very fun!

As a long time Final Fantasy fan, it's hard to not enjoy this game. The main story is actually pretty short, I'd say a bulk of the game is actually the side quests but they're still fun. Combat can be a bit clunky but is still enjoyable overall. There are also plenty of fun nostalgia moment for those who have played previous games. I highly recommend this game but know there are a few small quirks to it.

I enjoyed this game. It's definitely a little different than traditional FF games but it was fun. Despite not really loving the characters, the story was still good and the gameplay was fun. Right from the beginning it's an open world sandbox game with a ton of side missions. The negatives about it are the all male party. They are all dressed like Japanese emo pop stars and the dialogue is pretty lame. The care driving is also terrible. But overall a pretty good game.

I haven't played a FF game since Nintendo (nes), so wasn't sure what to expect from this until I read reviews. I can't compare this game to previous installments but as a rpg it's pretty solid. Open world, day cycle, choices on choosing skills and stat boosts, side quests, etc. However, few cutscenes and story seems incomplete, like your thrown into a middle of an exsisting story, given little detail about who, what, when, why - and little emotional tie in. Exception is your team of the boys, and one semi-love interest. The world is reasonably vast but also empty of any real things to do. The combat does shine and the dlc is fun.

    Best Final Fantasy in Years

Final Fantasy XV has the challenging task of feeling fresh, new, and innovative while also staying true to what fans of the long-running series have come to enjoy. I have put over 70 hours into XV and will say that it's a hard game to review. FFXV and Fallout 4 are the only games I have put considerable time into in the past few years, for good reason on both accounts. The best way to sum up FFXV is to say that the whole is definitely better than the parts. Overall, I highly recommend the game, though it's definitely not going to be for everyone. Here are some quick thoughts: Combat - Combat is simple on the surface, but insanely deep underneath. You will play for hours and still feel like you haven't really mastered it yet. Camera issues are undoubtedly here and frustrating, but overall it's a lot of fun. Magic - Magic is incredibly different compared to previous entries and is much more situational than spammed. Story - The bromance is real and the characters are very likable and deep. You truly care for these guys by the time the end rolls around. Having said that, the overall story hits some speed bumps from time to time; some so egregious that there are future patches and DLC that Square-Enix plans to address these issues, but they shouldn't be there in the first place.

In my honest opinion this is the best game in the series so far. The game takes me back to FF7, but the graphics are awesome, they finally made combat real time, which makes for a much better experience than turn based, and now you can do things like fishing and camping.

I figured for the sale price it was worth a shot to try this game out on my new xbox one. I have a PS4 and an OLED so I am used to really good graphics but I thought this game looked especially good on my tv. It was also really fun to play. I can’t say the plot necessarily makes sense, but that for some reason entertained me! It had a lot of fun little elements that made it overall entertaining, the characters were quirky, the bosses were actually challenging, I liked the side quests. I’m not even close to being done with this game, I think it is a really big game.

A definite example of a game that is more than the sum of its parts, understand right away that FFXV is a deeply flawed game. The story is just missing large parts, including blatant INSERT DLC HERE moments. The combat appears shallow at first, but does grow into its own eventually. The open world is rather beautiful and creative, and the scale of some monsters and set pieces will impress. More than anything, the characters will grow on you and the monster hunts end up providing a good amount of the game's sense of fun and adventure. It is far from perfect and I could debate its problems for hours, but when the final trophy popped I felt like I had enjoyed the journey more than I hadn't.

This game is well worth the sale price. I feel like it’s many hours of game play, good graphics and has a variety of different things to do in it. I like open world games so if you don’t like those you won’t like this. Only problem I have is on the cbox the game crashes right at those pivotal parts that you have tons of action scenes and are trying to fight an army. It was frustrating to have to redo a sequence several times that you can’t save in the middle of doing. I think that is the xbox more than the game however.

I was very skeptical about purchasing the game once I watched some videos on twitch (it looked incrediblely boring), but I gave it a whirl anyhow. I'm glad I did. I really like the game. The fighting is fun and the graphics are great! You definitely need to watch the kingsglaive movie before playing this to get a better understanding of the story. It feels like a monster hunter game and I'm digging it! Fighting these big monsters in the game. Definitely worth the purchase.

I love the whole Final Fantasy series. This game seems more like our world than any of the previous games in the series. If you are familiar with other FF games this one plays similar to FF 12. I have played about 40 hours so far with most of the time being on side quests, the addition of driving and different enemies on the map during day and night keep you on your toes. There are a few places where you have to run too far between actions though. Another thing that is nice about this game is gaining levels happens much faster, which is good since the battles seem more challenging than previous games in this series.
