Just play Classic Mode
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. Not sure why anyone would read a review on a collectors version of a game that came out three years ago. However, this is a pretty good one! It is not the best game to be honest if you are looking for a good story. However, if you were in it for the gameplay, then this is a great fire emblem game. Probably not worth the extra 40 bucks for the collectors edition though.

It's exactly what it says it is
||Posted . Owned for 3 weeks when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Shipping was very quick, and the box came in one piece, though all the like packaged air was popped and not full of any air when it arrived. Saw some other reviews say the seal was cut and honestly I don't remember if mine was too. The contents were all fine though so I don't care. I really like the ginormous poster and the artbook that comes with this edition, though I sadly have nothing to hang up the poster with at this moment (I am NOT ruining it with basic tape...). As for the actual game, it is what it is. I liked it, personally. Anyways, I'm satisfied with this purchase.

Great gameplay, disappointment elsewhere
||Posted . Owned for 4 months when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Fire Emblem Engage represents some of the best and worst of the franchise in a single package. The tactics gameplay is top-notch with new and interesting mechanics, and the soundtrack is generally a joy to listen to even if it can't quite match some of Fire Emblem's more recent OSTs. The voice acting is better than I expected for the most part. My main complaint is that the story is not much more than the bare minimum, the characters are one-dimensional, and the English localization of the support conversations between characters is an absolute travesty. If you are a fan of the Fire Emblem's gameplay, it really doesn't get much better than this. If you are a fan of the relationship building aspect introduced in Awakening, it really doesn't get much worse than this - and I can forgive it for not placing a focus on this social aspect, but when what is there is so weak and the localization is as awful as it is, it really is inexcusable. The game would have been better if they had forgone adding this aspect at all. My strongest advice would be to play the maps as straight as you can, like the GBA Fire Emblem games were so good at structuring. You'll get a really good 50 hours out of Engage that way. Roll your eyes at the story, and don't even attempt to watch the support conversations play out. You'll have a blast. Dive any deeper and you'll see the cracks start to form.

Owned for 6 months when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I loved the game. the gameplay is some of the best in the franchise and graphics are well done. it utilizes the switch to the best of its ability. the artbook is solid. could had been better but its a nice piece of memorabilia for the game. the steelbook looks gorgeous. would recommend.

Beautiful Special Edition
||Posted . Owned for 1 week when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Honestly a great value for everything it has. Art books tend to be pretty price, even for books smaller than this. In this case you also get a nice steelbook and a good looking poster which you can leave in the box forever (but in all honestly, would look nice on a wall, too). Even the inner packaging was nice looking, with little sprite art on it.

Great collection, decent game
||Posted . Owned for 1 week when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Beautiful collection for one of the best art designed Fire Emblems. Art books aren’t for everyone, but after collecting quite a few over the years, I can say that this is in the top tier of books, the art is stunning. The game is…fine? If you liked Three Houses for the compelling story and characters but didn’t care for the tactics, this game might not be for you. The writing is simple, and all the characters are very one dimensional, but the strategy and customization of your little anime army keeps this “engaging”

Excellent Special Edition, Poor Fire Emblem Game
||Posted . Owned for 1.5 years when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. This was easily the most obligatory purchase I've ever made. I'm a huge Fire Emblem fan and I have every American-released special edition Fire Emblem game ever made and so of course I had to get this. To be clear, the special edition content was excellent. The book is high quality, the cards are nice, and I love that it comes with a normal plastic game case instead of just the steelbook (unlike the Three Houses special edition) so that it looks better next to my other games. The box is also the exact same width and height as the Echoes, Three Houses, and Shadow Dragon special editions which looks really nice on a book shelf. The only special edition feature I wish it had was a soundtrack. My problem is with the game itself. In my opinion, this game has the worst writing I've ever seen in the Fire Emblem franchise and the most non-cohesive artstyle. Just looking at the cover art of the special edition box was nauseating. It's like the artists didn't learn the basic lesson of how contrast is safe, but chroma is dangerous. Granted, the character animations are stellar and the performance had a huge improvement over the previous game with framerate and texture resolution. The gameplay was also excellent, being innovative and refreshing. It's just really hard to look past the artistic and writing decisions that were made in a game series that is typically very art and story heavy. That said, I did have a jolly good time laughing with my best friend about how bad pretty much every writing/story decision and character design was. In that sense, it's as good as the Legend of Zelda TV show. In summary, if you're looking to get into Fire Emblem and have a Nintendo Switch, get Fire Emblem Three Houses. Later on if you like Fire Emblem, get this one and play it with your friends in the room so you can laugh instead of cringe.

Great Gameplay. Mediocre Story
||Posted . Owned for 3 weeks when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Fire Emblem Engage is a step up from its predecessor Fire Emblem Three Houses. Graphically, its the best the series has to offer and veterans will be satisfied with the gameplay. However the story is subpar for a game of this size. A generic story and cheesy clichés makes what could have been a great game good. The steelbook, artbook, and cards are well made and it is what you expect from the product description.

Decent gameplay, bad story, great collectors editi
||Posted . Owned for 2 months when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. The game itself was not very good at all from a story perspective. The characters were boring, the story was dull but the gameplay and the visuals were a lot better than Three Houses. Definitely get Three Houses over Engage if you haven't played either. The art book and the bonuses from the collectors edition were definitely worth it if you're a long time fan though.

Great new game in the Fire Emblem line
||Posted . Owned for less than 1 week when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. This is a classic Fire Emblem game, with great visuals and sound and slightly more traditional gameplay than the previous game, Three Houses. It's easy to recommend, especially if you can get your hands on this collector's edition, as it contains a lot of nice bonuses. The art book, especially, is terrific.

Neat
|Posted . Owned for 1 week when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. The game itself is very fun. It reminds me of the older GBA fire emblem games in that its mostly combat. The extras from divine edition are nice too. The steel book is made well? The art book has a lot of cool stuff in it, overall very good.

Excellent Addition to the series
||Posted . Owned for 3 weeks when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Enjoying the game tremendously! The story is simple and not as good as the previous one, but its got heart, if its not a little easy to guess. If you loved Fire Emblem Three Houses combat, this is more of that!

Fire Emblem
||Posted . Owned for 1 month when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Great Fire Emblem game but the Emblem gimick to bring all the past main characters from FE is not great. The story is pretty fortgettable as well. But, the main mechanics of the game are top notch

An amazing collector's edition!
||Posted . Owned for 1 week when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Love the art and steelbook case! There's also a set of holographic character cards! I also love the attention to detail on the inner packing having the 8-bit sprites of Fire Emblem characters!

Back to the roots!
||Posted . Owned for 1 week when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. This Fire Emblem game is definitely a breath of fresh air after the long, branching story of Three Houses. It feels like a return to the old formula of Fire Emblem, which can be seen with how this one was developed by IS rather than Koei Tecmo. It really shines in the gameplay. The story is the typical “fight evil dragon” so far, but with the combat being so well done, along with the numerous graphical and animation upgrades, it will not disappoint.

Great game, slightly damaged box
||Posted . Owned for less than 1 week when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. The game itself and the contents of the special edition are fantastic. However, the box unfortunately had some scuffs on the outside. Pretty disappointing considering how hard this was to get my hands on.
