So, I only play FE: Awakening before this. It's the perfect game to play after Awakening, unless you're a FE pro then you might go get Conquest and punish yourself.

Fire Emblem Fates Birthright is 1 of 3 story paths as the next entry in the Fire Emblem Series and can be likened to Fire Emblem Awakening in that you can grind out extra missions to level up your characters, build support relationships, etc. It's easier than Conquest and feels like it has less mission variety (but that doesn't make it any less fun) but the story makes it interesting throughout the 27 chapters. If you buy this game, you can buy the 2nd and 3rd path from the eShop for $20, so save 50% and only buy 1 hard copy if you must buy physical!

Great strategy game. Alot of downloadable content so expect to play more than just the game itself. I would not recommend buying conquest and birthright separately, it's best to purchase DLC in one game. The way it is set up for difficulty: Birthright < Conquest < Revelation < everything else.
Oh and ALL downloads are done AFTER Ch. 6 through the Dragons Gate. GAMESTOP, BEST BUY, AMAZON don't tell u that. It's NOT through the eshop
It's like the special edition but downloading everything separately.

If Conquest is too hard, or this is your first Fire Emblem game and you're wondering which version to get then you'll probably want Birthright. It's story is different than Conquest specifically to give you time to grind and spend time with characters. So it has a more leisure pace than Conquest.
Characters are vibrant and fun. You'll always be happy to slap a new character in your army! And all of the dialogue an support talking is always a pleasure to read no matter who it's between.

After having played awakening and loving every single second of it, this was highly anticipated! Love the two different storylines (three with revelations) the characters in birthright to me are just better and cooler, I'm only about halfway in probably, but figuring out who you want to marry and pairing off fighters is one of the best parts of fire emblem. A great buy, super fun, challenging game, that'll keep you coming back for more.

This game is great! So far it's my favorite fire emblem game just based off of the first 9 chapters already. Great customization, support conversations, interesting story with twists and turns (seriously things escalate fast).
Would recommend this to any fan of Fire Emblem! Even if you haven't played it before there's modes for newcomers too!

to create more games like this. where decisions matter... relationships can be made... when somebody dies, they die. that's a lot of realism for a hand held game... the combat isn't the most exciting thing to me... but the story and depth of this game make up for it. its good to put down the shooters and give these games a shot.

I was concerned that having the most recent Fire Emblem outing split into a few games would hinder the experience. Thankfully I was wrong. It's Fire Emblem, so if you're already a fan, this will be up your alley but if you've never played, this is also suitable for you. I'd recommend Fire Emblem Awakening as well.

For fans and beginners, Birthright is a great entry in the Fire Emblem series. It is hard enough for experts as you can change the difficulty and style to match your needs. I have not purchased any DLC, but there is a ton available if you're into that. Highly recommended and a must have for all 3ds players.

This version of fates gives you more options to grow your squad than in Conquest but the goals to each map are more straight and do not require as much strategy as conquest. I have had a great time with the game the new castle mode is interesting to check out each day to see what perks you get.

This is my first Fire Emblem game, but I love it. I'll definitely be going back to play previous games when I have the time. If you're a beginner like me, I definitely recommend playing Birthright first (the "easier" path), then Conquest, then Revelations. All 3 are worth playing!
