I bought both the blue and purple ones for my two girls respectively (because that's the only way to avoid a multi year war) I and they're pretty good but there are two issues that parents may wish to consider: 1. First my girls are very petite so this may not apply should you have a child that may be of a larger build. We have had the Ace for about a month now (i believe) and the girls have somewhat of a difficult time finding a comfortable fit where they don't notice it. 2. Possibly as a result of the first and this applies to the purple one only, it appeared to give my little one a bit of a rash. It reminds me of the days when Fitbit had a voluntary recall their adult sized bands. Now I'm not making a big deal of this because it only happened once but if you're a parent or guardian, it may be something to be aware of. On a positive note, the kids who are generally active anyway are even more active now. If I could harness about 1/10 of that, I would get more done in a day than I do in a week! The best part is that the Ace has a waterproof design just in case, Overall great produce and I recommend getting one if you are on the fence.

Easy for kids, a little trickier for adults

I purchased this for my kid who doesn't yet have a smart phone. The pros are that it does exactly what it says it will, seems to be up to the abuse of a young boy, and although lite in features, does allow him to track steps and exercise and have a cool looking time-piece on. The not-so-great aspects are that it's really designed for kids who have smartphones. You can configure it to run off of your smartphone, and assuming you already have your FitBit account, can toggle to your kids account so they can synch-up and see their results. That said, toggling accounts isn't intuitive so either get ready for a little frustration during the learning curve or get your little one a phone sooner than you planned. All in all, as a FitBit user for the last five years, it's what you would expect from a no-frills fitness tracker.

    My Son Says it’s Uncomfortable

My son likes my FitBit and Apple Watch. He wanted a watch that tracks his steps. I wanted something inexpensive that I could monitor. This product was an exciting find for us because it accomplishes all of those goals. We got the family account setup, my son loved seeing his steps. I could see them and send him texts. He could see the time like a watch. After about half hour he took it off though. It was too small for his wrist. We bought larger bands but he still can’t wear it for very long before he says it’s uncomfortable. I’m hoping he gets used to it so we set some fitness goals. I really like it and hope more kids wear them so it becomes a trend.

When I first got it, it worked great, however, options were limited (I guess it was as to be expected, child device). The first time I tried to charge it, it wouldn't charge. Went online to find a resolution and found many others that have had issues. After several hours, reading instructions, reading online forum, trying varies different reset/cleaning options, I successfully fixed it. It was very VERY frustrating but I got it working again. For $100, you expect more. I was very close to returning it. I still don't feel like it's worth it but my daughter likes it already so I'm giving it another try.

Nice price, but doesn't seem great as a kid's item

I got it at a great price. It doesn't strike me as much of a kid's item, though I bought one for both of my children - the design is not child like at all (basically just an ALTA with different colors and graphics). The strap got loose a few months after purchase, Waterproofing would have been great to have so they could bring it to the pool without worry. The second gen version seems like it is an improvement. On the plus side Fitbit Customer Service is pretty great!

My daughter loves the device as it helps her stay active and makes the family competition to get the most steps fun. It also helps me track her sleep pattern in case it corresponds to her mood at times. However the band being too tight can break the skin if you don’t monitor your child’s band setting. Finding a good place to charge the watch can be challenging because the cord is very short. Then it gets forgotten to be worn because it is in a place where it is not visibly noticeable.

Got this for my son who loves it. He could never keep his watch on the correct time, this one does it for him. He and his mom compare activity throughout the day and seem to enjoy it. Got a screen protector as I'm not sure the display was modified to survive the rigors of life with a 9 year old. The only con, which I'm knocking off one star is that it's REALLY small, like 5-7 year old wrist small and I had to invest in a new band right away.

I got this for my daughter for Christmas. She kept saying she wanted a Fitbit . But she is small for her age and I didn't want to get her a bigger one. The only thing she doesn't like about it is that it doesn't read her heart rate. She is a runner and that helps out a lot. But maybe we can upgrade in a year. It is tough enough to take her wear and tear. She has been babying it so that probably helps.

Price was nice (I think 60 during the promotional period). Kids are excited about checking their stats, but at the end of the day it is more or less a defeatured Alta product. More could have been done to make it even more appealing to kids, and more robust - the band on my son's started to wear down already so that when he takes off his jacket sometimes it takes the tracker right off.

My son loves that he has his own Fitbit. It seems to count his steps accurately and the sleep tracking feature is spot on...very useful. The screen can be a little tricky to change from one piece of info to another and I can't seem to figure out how to stop it from alerting when I get a call on my phone and his Fitbit is in range...otherwise, a great product.

My oldest son (12) had been asking me for a fitness watch for a long time. I wasn’t willing to spend a lot of money on something I wasn’t sure he would take care of and this watch did everything that we were looking for. He loves the watch and we are happy that he is challenging himself and getting outside more.

My 10-year old loved this product. It came with two straps - she can use the second as she gets bigger. After less than a month, it stopped charging. It was past the Best Buy return date, so they referred me to Fitbit. After some troubleshooting did not resolve the problem, Fitbit is sending a new charging cable since the purchase date is within one year.

Bought the tracker for my granddaughter at Christmas. She was so excited and wears it to school. So far she has done a great job of keeping up with it and being able to charge it. She loves seeing how many steps she has taken in a day. I think it is a great fun way to get the kids moving! Purple color was nice.

    FitBit Ace - For Kids?

I was excited to buy the FitBit Ace for my nieces to encourage exercising together but through our FitBits. Registering the Ace was extremely challenging and still only have a temporary set up. FitBit doesn't provide a phone number to speak with someone to assist. In addition, they only provide 1 size wrist band which didn't fit my niece and had to purchase a different band.

Got this for my nephew as a gift. Glad to see Fitbit finally allowing kids to have fun. The device is great-just like the regular alta. The "family" account app and syncing is a bit less fun and not clear. You get mixed messages from tech support although they do their best to try and help. They need to loosen up and let multiple devices sync easier, family account or not.

This is a very simple and easy to use fitness tracker for kids. The app works well and is a nice balance of useful information for parents and reward system to keep the kids interested. Would be nice if they included an additional, larger band because the one it comes with is quite small even for a child.

Unable to create an account for my child with the Ace. Had to go through my own account. Did not track her exercise that had to be entered in separately. For what I paid for this I just returned it and purchased HR model so it would track everything and she could see her own account. Might be good for younger children not an active 10 yr old.

Bought this tracker for my 8 year old son. The strap was too short but thankfully Fitbit sent a longer strap for free after I contacted them. Many basic features are missing: floor/flight tracking, distance, and waterproofing. Hope they can incorporate these features into the next generation Ace.

I bought this for my 9 year old. She loves it! She can change out the bands. I like the kid safety features in the app, and I like that it has motivated her for more exercise. We also like the sleep tracker to make sure she is getting enough sleep. It is durable and sleek. Overall, I highly recommend this product!

The watch is fine, it has limited functionality but my daughter loves reaching her goals and getting badges! The first watch stopped "waking up" on the tap after about three days so I had to exchange it for a new one. The service was great, no hassle and the new watch works great.... so far
