When did BestBuy become Amazon?

Let me preface this with I made a mistake and bought the wrong item. When I realized I started a return. Per the instructions bring item and barcode to local bestbuy by xyz date and account will be refunded. So I drove an hour to the nearest bestbuy only to be told this is a “marketplace item” and cannot be returned in store. I showed the associate the screen stating to bring in store and the barcode and was told “nope we don’t do that, this is a marketplace item did you buy it on Amazon?” I was shocked and advised I bought with my bestbuy card on the bestbuy app. She said “oh, it’s a marketplace item we don’t take them back in store” and advised me to go home print a label and ship it back. Waste of time for a human error. So buyer beware. Check your purchase is through bestbuy or you can’t return it in store and have to jump hoops for a refund.
