Is FREE truly worth it? Up to you...

At this so called FREE level get ready...first they'll charge $10.99 when you go to set it up....$.99 as activation fee, $10.00 as a credit which expires in 30 days whether you use it or not... 2ndly there's ZERO live support unless you pay for it, you have to use email which could take days or use Tweeter which takes hours, either way ZERO support on weekends...be very careful when choosing your initial phone number on the web page I selected a 786 area code & the glitch in the system charged me $4.99 as they tell me that I changed it even though I never did. If you use the sim card on a phone & you select to be at home on WiFi & you use FreedomPop to make a call they deduct the minutes even though you are NOT using their network but using your WiFi at home or whichever free one you might be using. You will also notice that all this is possible because your are adding an app to your smartphone & assigning a cellphone carrier to your smartphone. So if what you are looking for is for a way to make calls over WiFi while at home there are plenty of TRULY FREE apps that allow you to have phone service. Some folks worry about 911 services remember that ALL cellphones or smartphones will allow you to make a 911 call. For the techie that wants to be turning off network data, cellular data to work around the so called FREE service...it might be worth it

STAY AWAY !! hidden automatic charges

If you manage to successfully cancel each individual service during the trial period you will be immediately auto billed for data because freedom pop doesn't use GSM to make calls it uses data. All of a sudden your next bill due of $0.00 becomes a $20.00 auto charge to your credit card days later. When you try to turn off auto refill in an attempt to actually have a free service you are immediately charged $7.99 to your credit card and it reoccurs monthly. So there is no free at all in freedompop. Calls can only be made using their app and you waive your right to class action lawsuit when you sign up so obviously they know they are a deceptive company. Go get a call and text plan for $20 that works on your phone and does not require a special app to make calls you will save yourself the annoyance.

Solid AT&T service. Basic / free plan provides 200 minutes, 500 texts and 200MB (250MB if adding 10 friends) of LTE data per month. Provided you configure your device to restrict background data for all apps (except those with a critical need) and you set a hard data cap (Android devices), this plan is a great fit for those with minimal use. One thing to note is that the calls are to be made using their app and are VOIP. Provided you have a good signal, a decent phone (specs), and are not in a fast moving vehicle, you should have a good experience. Speaking of which, if done properly, use Google Hangouts to expand your calling ability (unlimited). Just keep in mind your data when using the FreedomPop SIM. All in all, a great option for those wanting free service and whom do not use their phone much.

FreedomPop supports Wi-Fi Calling, a feature that allows you to make calls and send texts over Wi-Fi. It's handy if you're using the carrier's free service with its caps on texts and talk time, as you'll be able to use Wi-Fi for a lot of your calling and texting needs.Other special features include mobile hotspot support. FreedomPop also features rollover data, in which up to 500MB per month of unused data can carry over to the next month. Rollover costs $3.99 per month, but another option, Rollover Plus, costs $6.99 and lets you carry over up to 1GB of data. Your unused data doesn't expire, though you are capped at storing 20GB for the standard Rollover plan and 40GB for Rollover Plus. You can also earn data by referring friends to FreedomPop.

I try this service, just for back up my main cell. First you need to install Freedoompop apps to order to call or receive a call, it is Voip (Voice over IP ) system . You can not make or receive a call without apps just like regular GSM service which just need to insert SIM card on your unlocked phone. They should mentioned Freedompop apps is required to make and receive a call. I am not taking about $, but from technical standpoint this is misleading to customer

Was able to set up new FP plan on my new phone using the card with no issues, but with the free plan on the gsm network you only get 200mb of data and no option to turn off auto top off, so as soon as the account was activated we received an alert that the plan was going to top off or add $20 to the plan. You used to be able to turn off the auto top off with FP by paying a one time fee, now if you want to turn it off you pay a fee each month it is off. If you want to use FreedomPop service this card works, but do not but it for free service as it will not work out well for you.

I bought this thinking it was free but before I activated it I watched a couple YouTube vids and it gets a lot of bad reviews. In order to activate it you have to use a credit card and im told they keep charging your card even when you tell them to stop. So I am going to buy a burner VISA card put about 10 dollars on it activate the card with that and see what happens but im not gonna use my main VISA card in case they overcharge it.

The card certainly isn't "plug and play", you need to change the APN and install their application. I bought two of these and while I think it's working ok on one of my phones, the one I got for my son only seems to work if the phone has a wifi connection. I'm going to have to play with it more to see if I can get it working correctly. Also, it seems that the company automatically charges your card when you get low on data and the only way to turn that off is to pay them ~7$/month

FreedomPop has been in my pocket for years - first as a WiMAX driven hotspot and Evo4G to the latest version of the GSM SIM in my HTC Ultra. I keep my data usage well under 1GB each month and use it for a ton of messaging - not a ton of talk, but it's there if I need it. I love the fact that I get the full high speed LTE that AT&T offers (which is even better than their own prepaid services) and there is coverage for it everywhere. At $10 a month the plan is a steal. If you're smart though, you'll buy the year after you give this a try and call it good. It's a great service.

I've been using FreedomPop's 4G LTE sim in AT&T network for over a year. The basic plan has free 200 minutes/500 texts/200 MB. I connected with 10+ FreedomPop friends so that I get an extra free 500MB/month. AT&T's coverage is excellent, and I do not have major problem with making/receiving the VOIP phone calls using FreedomPop's app. I bought some add-ons like data-rollover and voice-mail service for a couple of dollars/month and I can cancel the add-ons at any time. I'm glad that I found this Sim Card.

The activation of this SIM cost additional money and the advertised free internet is anything but that. I had a hard time cancelling the service. Thankfully I was able to dispute the credit card charges incurred during my experimentation. I should have read the online reviews of freeedom pop before taking on this headache. This is no fault of Best Buy of course. The order was delivered ahead of time.

They sell you a sim card that's supposed to work at a great price. When the FreedomPop sign up doesn't work online they want to charge you $10 for "VIP Service" where they will activate it for you on their end. Using the online signup wizard didn't work for us, so it's either pay the additional money to get it working or be out $0.99. We opted to be out the $0.99 and will never recommend this company to anyone.

I have been using FreedomPop LTE SIM for one year and a half now and I am very satisfied. The coverage is great and the call quality is good. There are several plans to satisfy everyone need starting from 0$/month up. With the free plan you get 200min talk, 500 texts and 200MB. Up to 500 extra MB can be obtained connecting with FreedomFriends. All calls and texts between Freedompop users are free. Make sure to set up your account according to your needs and usage. I would definitely command Freedompop for medium/moderate users!

Basic free version isn't free without a catch. The whole process of signing up is full of small print tricks. After entering credit card # they can trick you into all kinds of hidden automatic charges. The worst is you can't even remove credit card from profile to prevent unwanted charge unless cancelling the account and losing unwanted unused tricky charges. Stay away from this company.

There are so many things that you can accidentally do on the online management portal that results in fees charged to your account, just be very careful when changing/downgrading/upgrading plans/services, you'll often run into additional charges to your on-file payment method. Customer service will NOT revert any charges to you. If you're trying to use this for free, watch out for the gotchas.

Need to pay $0.99 for activation fees, got charged $10 for top-up, after that, you should read website on certain things you need to do deactivate to get the most basic and free plan. By default, will be subscribed to a few paid services, so, just be careful with the fineprints. And you need to set your phone APN (it's quite easy) Overall good if you are really low data plan user (200MB)/month.

In August, I upgraded my phone with sprint. (Have to have it for work). I decided to keep my old phone and get it unlocked so I can use it as a back up. It was incredibly easy to set it up. And the great thing is that this is a GSM SIM. So there are times when my Sprint phone might not have coverage, but my Freedompop phone will have a very strong signal. It’s great to have options and a spare phone to give to my kid if he is going somewhere.

The service is great, it was fast and was a little difficult to set up but I finally figured it out. But..,., But the calling and texting is thru the Freedom Pop App only !! I couldn’t use the calling and texting apps that my iPhone already had preinstalled . That was really weird for me and I didn’t like that. I went back to my Mint Mobile sim within an hour.

With this SIM you get 200mb data, 200 mins, and 200 texts for free each month. I turn my data off since if you go over, you will be charged. I will mainly use it to make calls and a few text. You should download the FreedomPOP App so you can track your usage. You can also upgrade your service via the app for additional fee. Overall, a good deal if you just need to make a few calls and text.

found out it's true if it sounds to good to be true it is. Freedom pop after reading reviews and no person to contact I decided not to use the card I purchased, sounds a bit like bait and switch. Too many people are being charged for a monthly fee that isn't the deal they signed up for. Then no one to discuss the charges with. No thanks
