It’s kind of loud. It’s cumbersome. It does well for a small room, but we got it for a larger area, so it’s okay not great. Had to buy the extension hose, but when using this, the longer the hose the more warmer the room was.
Overall, I should have thought about my house and windows before making the purchase. It’s not bad, but I expected better. A little difficult to hook up. The hose takes up a lot of room and gets on my nerves. I thought when it’s on Auto it would turn off and on, but it doesn’t, it keeps blowing. Again, it great if you have the right size room and windows. Most of my windows are cranks not up and down or sliding.

First off I just got this unit today as I'm writing this. The A/C itself seems to be well made and should cool my room perfectly fine. My room is 165 sq/ft and this is rated for 700. The setup was pretty easy as long as you can fit the window kit into your window. Also this thing is heavy, but it is on wheels.
So, why only 3 stars? Well like I said I only just got it today and it has some issues. No fault of the unit itself or even Best Buy, but beware you DO NOT want to have this shipped to your door. No Best Buy near me had this in stock and I was in a pinch and really needed this for my new room in a new apartment (the a/c just doesn't cool this room very well). The shipping company beat this thing up (see photos). The front is all scratched up, drain hose was no where to be found, one of the wheel casters was shattered and the front panel is popped off on the left side and I can't get it to click back into place. Now I did buy this one as 'open box-excellent' so maybe the drain hose was just overlooked. It did have the window kit, foam and remote, but was missing the rest of the screws and window locking bracket.
The unit turns on and does blow cold air. I wanted to make sure it at least worked, but I will be leaving it off for a good few hours for all the oil to settle back into place because I know and you know that this thing was rolled over more times than a car in a bad accident. I wanted to take it right back into Best Buy the moment it landed on my doorstep, but ya they don't have it here. So if they replace it, then that means I risk an even worse unit showing up.

I bought several portable air conditioners to cool the lobby of our condominium while the main air conditioning system was being replaced. The lobby has a 12 foot ceiling and is about 1,200 square feet with a large glass window-wall and a lot of traffic through the front door. Cooling this large area is difficult in 90+ degree Summer days.
While the air conditioner comes with a 5 foot 6 inch diameter exhaust hose, it was not long enough to reach the ceiling of the lobby where I planned to vent the hot exhaust into the plenum. I purchased some additional 6 inch hose from a hardware supply store and also added an inline duct fan to facilitate the exhaust air flow. I used some duct tape to attach it. The final assembly works very well and the Frigidaire unit is doing an excellent job.
This Frigidaire unit was one of the three that I bought and it has performed superbly. It is very efficient, reasonably quiet and seems very solidly built. It has been running almost continuously for the past two months and the lobby has been very comfortable despite many 90+ degree days and a hot sun beating down on the large lobby window wall.
Among the features I like are a nice remote control, three fan speeds, a good anti-microbial filter and the option to use it in fan-only mode. But what set this unit apart from the other two units I bought was that it can be set to swivel from side-to-side to better distribute the cool air.
The only downside is that its airflow is not quite as strong (241 cfm vs 270 cfm) as the other two units I purchased. However, the Frigidaire unit was lower-priced and I don't think that most will notice the difference in air flow.
Overall, I am very pleased with this air conditioner and can recommend it even to those who have unusually high cooling requirements.

I purchased this as it was the highest btu for the money with the best ratings. It was easy to install, it is quiet and cooled the immediate room. The downfall is it states up to 700 square feet. I have a small space and figured if it could get close to that I would be golden..I’m not sure it’s reached 500 yet, which is disappointing. But overall happy with purchase so far.

I'll try and get the TL:DR as succinct as possible. Only buy this unit if your area is smaller than 16ft x 16ft (250sq. ft. total) and you can find this on sale in the sub $400 range.
This unit is billed as a 14,000 BTU unit which on paper translates to being able to cool 700sq. ft., but pay attention to that second BTU number that is only 6,300. That second number is the true EFFECTIVE BTU and that means this is meant for 250sq. ft in reality.
The larger first BTU number is the base power this machine has; It has 14,000 BTU capacity to suck in hot air and spit out cold air. Sounds great on paper and if this were an in-wall unit, thats pretty much where it ends, but the sad reality is, since these are completely located inside there are other factors to consider and that is why we get a second BTU number. The second BTU number, 6,300 is the real world capability after you factor in what I'm about to go over. That number is calculated based on the fact this unit is completely indoors so not only is it sucking in hot air from the room and spitting out cold air, it is also sucking in the cold air it just made. It is also creating negative air pressure in the room so warm air is coming in from wherever it can to compensate (doorway cracks, the walls themselves). On top of that the air duct to the window (or door if you buy a kit) is now just a massive heat-pipe warming the air in the room around it as hot air is pushed outside. In fact the shorter that air duct is the better this unit will run. You would rather have a 4 foot heat pipe than a 10 foot one.
All that said, these are issues with all portable AC units. You will see though that the majority while having a lower first BTU in comparison, will still have a larger second BTU number. That makes them overall better at cooling. The story doesn't completely end there though. This unit does have an energy efficiency rating higher than 10 which is higher than the average of 9. So you do want to take that into consideration potentially.
In the end, this unit is outclassed for the price by other competition, but it does work within the realm of the true secondary BTU number and it looks much better than most other portable AC units. You'll have to decide if looks make up for a higher price than the rest of the competition and don't even bother if your square feet to cover is more than 250.
Note: Many of the reviews don't seem to grasp the true meaning of these numbers and I don't completely fault them, but some research would have helped a lot of the negative reviewers from buying this unit in the first place. They saw two BTU numbers and didn't bother researching why there was a second number - just went with the first and tried to cool a house with this!

Hi, CyciumX! Thank you for a very informed review! It is important to consider these options when purchasing a portable air conditioner. The Seasonally Adjusted Cooling Capacity (SACC) is a rating in BTU/hour that represents the performance of the air conditioner in more extreme test conditions and adjusts to account for the effect of infiltration air and duct heat transfer. These models are meant to cool a single room, and rooms with heat-producing appliances or poor insulation or in seasons where it may get extremely hot, the SACC rating should be taken into account. If you have any further questions, please feel free to contact us at 800-374-4432 Monday through Friday, 8:30a to 8:00p EST at your convenience. ~Ashton

This unit is a excellent choice for those that need to cool down a large room, but don't have the space for a window unit. It runs very quiet and puts out cold air. We have been having 103*+ days here and are quite happy with the performance in a 500 sq. ft. room. My only complaint is that the on/off button is not marked, (it is on the far right).

Honestly got this only because it was on a good sale and the last ones and I had Best Buy rewards. I was slightly disappointed didn’t seem to cool the amount of space but it cooled my kitchen and living room down like a champ. 90 to 100 degree days cooled down great. Worked well for the dogs too. Pro would be its surprisingly not as loud as I would have expected it to be. Worked well all summer looking forward to using it again.

Good overly large Air conditioner and it works well in a closed area. The problem I had was with the vent hose tube that blows out the hot air from the unit. It gets extremely hot. Make sure it is not within touching range from anyone. Also, the hose part that connects to the outside window does not stay secure in the window adapter part that came with the unit. I had to use strong electrical tape to secure it. Easy fix.

Wife and I needed a portable AC unit to cool a total of 450sq-ft of room, I’ve looked at and have tried the other brands including Honeywell which seems like the closest competitor. This fridgidair did very well for setup, ease of use and quick time it took to cool at 90* room down to 75*. And keeps it cool. The black theme looks well in nice home environments. The only thing I recommend is a decent size catch can for the water drain. Humid areas will make the AC produce almost a gallon/hr of condensation. I do recommend this unit to anyone needing a powerful AC

Great system. Super easy to use and is exactly what we needed for very few unbearable days. First came with some missing parts. Returning it was easy but for such a heavy unit, all I needed was a hose but they wanted to return the entire thing. Not a Best Buy policy. Has worked perfectly ever since.

I love this unit. My only complaint is the huge exhaust hose. But i can live with it as this is by far the coldest most powerfyl air conditioner I've ever experienced. Totally disagree with last one star review. And i got open box and some parts were missing (screws and padding). Best Buy took another $50 off which makes it a greater deal. I'm ready for the hotter weather!!!

I expected worse but was very pleasantly surprised. Quiet, even at High speed. Cools 750 sq ft combination of rooms quite fast, and very cold. But what surprised me the most is that while all the hot air in the room is blown outside, there is NO water draining.

We bought this portable air conditioner while waiting for our central air to be installed. It is very portable and can easily be moved from room to room. It will cool down a room pretty quick. My daughters room was 80 degrees and within 2 hours it was down to 70 degrees.

I am so happy we got this air conditioner. Our southern California summers have been so hot! This cools down our bedroom to the point of being freezing! Sometimes we have to turn it off in the middle of the night. It will even cool down our living and dining room when we have it downstairs. That is definitely more than 700sq ft. It is pretty quiet. Does not bother me when we sleep. Our Siberian Husky appreciates it as well. Great buy!

I've had this unit over a month and it definitely helps cool my upstairs unit. I had the 350 Sq Ft model and it could not cool at all. This unit keeps my unit about seven degrees cooler. I have a black roof over a seven foot ceil and a room with no outdoor shade. I had to put an exhaust fan in the other room to try and get some cool air in there and it does the job. I only give this four stars because of my unique situation but it is worth five. The exhaust hose ends easily attach. The only negative, although not much of one, is that the lower filter requires a screwdriver to remove. Vacuuming the filter is not adequate. You need to rinse in water and wait until dry before reinstalling them.
