Cools fast and cools really well
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. This is my second time purchasing a portable AC unit. And this Frigidaire is SO good!! It cools way better than my previous portable AC unit. My first one was a Kenmore unit with a BTU rating of 8,000 that I purchased about 3 years ago. That Kenmore unit was never powerful enough to cool down my ~650 sq. ft living room during the hot California months where the temperature can get above 100 F. But we lived with it because it was better than nothing and we didn't want to buy another unit when the old unit still works. Not wanting to suffer through the upcoming hot summer months, I purchased this more powerful 14,000BTU unit and it didn't disappoint. A few weeks ago here in Southern California, we experienced a brief >90 F weather and I got to try out the Frigidaire unit and compare it directly to the 8,000 BTU Kenmore unit. The 14,000BTU Frigidaire unit is SO much better. On paper, it's a 75% upgrade in cooling ability and it really shows. The living room is now a pleasant place to lounge around thanks to the AC unit maintaining cool temperatures. Besides its cooling power, I also liked how easy it was to set up the exhaust vent tubing and the design of the windows kit. Another area that is much better engineered and designed than the Kenmore one. With my old Kenmore one, the tubing would constantly pop out & the window kit would fall out. I had to modify the window kit by purchasing some custom brackets from Home Depot to prevent the kit from falling out/moving around. The engineers at Frigidaire are clearly more thoughtful and smarter. There was a pleasant surprise about this Frigidaire unit that I didn't already know about until I used it - the louvers move up and down automatically! This mechanism helps to distribute the cold air around the living room which I found to be very helpful. I don't know why Best Buy doesn't include this feature in the product description page. All in all, I'm super satisfied and happy with this Frigidaire portable AC. This was my first experience with this company and they have made a positive impression on me. I highly recommend it!!

A Good AC Unit
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I've recently bought two AC Units for my 2 bedroom apartment, an 8000 BTU unit which I have reviewed on its own page, and this 14000 BTU unit of the same brand that I will review here. I will reference the 8000 BTU unit for comparison purposes. The 14000 BTU unit was easy-yet-difficult to setup. As I have experienced with my other AC unit, setting up the hose is a real pain and can become really frustrating trying to keep it falling out of its connectors. In fact I spent more time on the hose than unboxing and moving this AC into place. However, once you get it all in place, and once you have a solid connection, you can forget about it. You may need some patience with this initial setup. Other than the hose situation, the unit itself is much heavier than I expected, and much more heavier than the 8000 BTU unit I bought with it. On the unit itself, it comes with many panel options, the remote offers basic functionality. In fact the remote is the exact same as my 8000 BTU model, and it even works with it. I currently have this unit in a 550 sq ft bedroom with its own hallway and bathroom. As advertised it does in fact cool the room down, by several degrees. During the heatwave we had, it did its best to cool against 108+ degrees and I was satisfied with how much it cooled the room down. During normal summer heat it does provide some real frigid air, in fact my wife turns it up to about 65 degrees because it gets so cold. For cooling comparison, the 14000 BTU cools the room down a lot, even its lowest fan speed in Cool Mode set to 65 degrees does better than my other 8000 BTU unit at full speed at 62 degrees. The 14000 BTU unit does have three fan speeds. Noisy, Noisier and Noisiest. It seems for the most part the lowest fan speed does a pretty good job on its own of circulating cool air. So we're able to keep the noise level down a bit and still sleep comfortably cool. The 14000 BTU unit has a nice Swing option which moves the air output up and down to cover more space, much nicer than the 8000 BTU unit which does not have such an option. I do like that it's a smaller than expected for such an appliance, but it's not easy to move around due to its weight. Plus how far you can move it is limited to the hose and your tolerance for having to reset the hose when it pops off if you decide to move it. The unit is well designed and well built, and it looks and feels high-quality. It's about the size of a small filing cabinet, just slightly bigger. It doesn't take up much space even in my bedroom. And yes it does come with a window kit which extends quite a bit (I have long vertical windows). And no, unless you use the Dehumidifier option, you don't need to drain anything. Overall I love the unit, especially during the heatwave we had here in California. I based my purchase on other reviews which at the time seemed to have the best reviews of all the others in its class. Since I bought two AC units, the 8000 BTU and this 14000 BTU unit of the same brand, I can say that there is in fact a significant difference in cold-air-circulation performance between the two. While they both have a limit of 62 degrees for cool air, the 14000 BTU unit does it much better. So if you're on the fence wondering if the price difference translates into a real world performance difference, I can say that it does. I would definitely buy this unit again.

A star - quiet & quick
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I purchased this to replace another portable air conditioner which had been returned as it quite working after one year, and its replacement after two. This unit far surpasses my older one(s). It cools quickly, is quiet and is fairly easy to set up. I made sure I sealed the window sliding kit as best as I could and purchased hose insulation to keep the expelled heat out of the room. I no longer have to turn the unit off to talk on the telephone or wait 1/2 hour before I feel relief from the heat. I would definitely recommend this unit to a friend, and thank Best Buy for making this purchase a breeze.

Works well
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. We looked at several different ones and this one fit the ticket. Plenty of BTUS and quiet. Looks nice. Buttons and remote are easy to use. It's on wheels but with exhaust hose doesn't make it easy to move. Like how you don't have to use a drain hose on cool setting. Haven't had to clean it yet but the directions seem easy enough.

Portable and cheaper bills
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.First one stopped working after 2 weeks, took it back, got same one no problem and transferred my warranty since it was mnfg defect. I would recommend getting extended warranty it is worth the $57. Cools a bedroom pretty fast and living room/kitchen in an hour or so. Very quiet and super cold. Reviewed many others and this one is top of the line even though it only comes in white. Qualifies for 1 year credit payments which is nice too. I hope this one lasts longer and lowers my electric bill from not running my roof AC. Definitely would get another one just like it if I had to do it again.

Good item
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I wanted an air conditioner that was easy to install and portable. This a/c fits one of those requirements. It was more difficult to install than I thought. I think it would work better in a wood or vinyl window, rather than my metal Windows. It was impossible to screw the window exhaust into the metal window frame, but I found out that gorilla tape holds the exhaust in the window well. The cooling is adequate for my 500 square foot apartment.

"Cool Purchase"
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. This wall/floor unit was super easy to install! Directions were clear, with step-by-step instructions with an illustration for each...can't go wrong with that. The house cooled down immediately, and it runs nice and quiet. Just a few places that needed to be covered for the outside, but there was extra sticky foam we used and covered each screws hole and gaps!

Works great!
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I bought this air conditioner after reading tons of reviews and comparing different brands. Eventually I settled on this one, and I'm glad I did! I have it set up in a large bedroom (with very high ceilings) with an attached large bathroom. It keeps both rooms nice and cool, even on the hottest of days. It was super easy to set up, although I have casement windows so we had to fabricate an extra window covering. I definitely am happy with this purchase!

Worked Great All Summer Long
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I bought two of these because I have more sqft than just one can cover. Both worked great and I literally had them working all day and night for the entire summer. Never once did I turn them off. The filters are on the outside and you can clean them with a vacuum separately while running the AC units. Then just snap them back on. Easy! Get this AC unit!

Great portable AC
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. This unit has a lot of features and cools the area that I am in, about 800 square feet, very good. The only real problem is if you have a smaller width window. You will need to cut the in window exhaust. Other than that it is a great item. I own this one and the smaller 8000btu unit. Both amazing.
