A: Unless you are using it on "dehumidifier mode," you don't need a hose, but it does come with a big white tube to connect to the window, but that is to release the heat from the unit.
Q: How often do I need to drain the water out of this air-conditioner
A: You don't need to drain the a/c. Water is exhausted as vapor through the exhaust pipe. The only time water is collected is when you use it as a dehumidifier, and then you need a hose to empty the water.
