Looked at various dash cams and decided on the Garmin due to the features and brand name. Has great video detail and forward crash and red light camera warning. Features can be turned off. Had unit hard wired by Geek Squad which is nice. Also has downloaded app that you can go back and review from.

These work great. Easy to install. Solved the weak WiFi signal in my house. Secure. Not big on a lot of Google stuff, but have to recommend these units

Awesome dash cam if set up properly in the car, hook it into the battery for parked videos as well!

Everything is good. But Garmin app needs more improvements.

I went through two of these. Not worth the money. UF the temp gets higher than 75 it shuts off. I sent two back with best buy due to heat causing them to go bad. I contacted farming and was told best buy had a couple bad batches. Garmin said take down if heat is greater than 70. Uf that's so then how foes the camera works if someone hits my truck?

The unit i purchased failed after several months. Best Buy / Garmin upgraded me to a DashCam 56 which is working out very well

I purchased the Garmen 55 dash cam and had it hard wired by Best Buy. Good News: The installation was very good, the employee was very polite and cordial. The camera is small, the mount seems secure, and the wire was long enough for a hard wire installation. The Bad News: I have a 2017 Prius, and the install didn't work well with the Prius electric grid system. The charger was not recharging, resulting in a dead camera. Apparently the car was not supportive of the install, at least at the site that Best Buy did the actual hook-up. The "application" and process for viewing the saved or "non-saved videos" is complicated and labor intensive. You have to open the ap, get the camera to the correct page, open your phone wifi, get the camera to connect to the phone via the camera's wifi and the process is time consuming and has to be done a number of times each session...as the camera disconnects easily. I have yet to be able to download a full video file of my travels to my android phone. Bottom line: I took the 55 back and received a full refund. I then purchased a 45 from Best Buy and installed it myself keeping the cigarette lighter type power source and plugging it into the power source of the Prius. This works. It does not drain the camera's battery, and keeps it recharged. I miss the voice activation of the 55, where I can say OK-GARMEN, Save Video...and not have to touch the camera button to save the footage currently running. Since the camera is so small, it is difficult for the driver to reach over and push the bottom button, without disturbing the view of the camera. With the 55, the voice activation is great. The picture of the 45 is not as good as the 55 either. I was able to buy a 45 at the store and have to wait 2 weeks to get the 55, but..I think I will return the 45 and go back to the 55 without the hard wire install. I like the camera, it is a shame that the application isn't more user friendly. Worth a try if you are looking to buy a decent dash camera.
