Customers recognize the Forerunner 225 Sport Watch's highly accurate GPS and heart rate monitor as significant advantages, frequently citing ease of use and reliable step tracking as additional pluses. While some users mentioned the price point, concerns about battery life were also noted. Overall, the positive feedback on accuracy and user-friendliness outweighs the reported drawbacks.

I suppose it worked well enough but it seemed pretty clunky to me. Also required a PC for firmware updates, which I don't own. I was hoping it would take updates OTA. I ended up exchanging for the Moto 360 Sport.

I didn't like it. For a watch that keeps track of your running it's good but the interface sucked I thought there would be more to it for the money but there's not.

The face of this watch is big, made for a man's wrist. I had Garmin products before, and I can attest of their functionality but unfortunately does not fit me

While the Forerunner 225 was not designed specifically for men, we understand that comfort is subjective and this device may not be for you. We have other running models with similar form factors but slightly different sizes that we would love or you to explore. We ope that you can find a Garmin that fits all of your needs!
Thank you for the review and best regards. |BB|

I searched for months for the perfect running watch - I knew it had to be a Garmin as they are the industry leader in GPS watches. This one is IDEAL for what I was needing. I didn't care about phone notifications - that's annoying and a distraction! My list included activity tracking, shock proof, water resistant, of course running pace and stats, and built in heart rate monitor. I am a female and the watch is a bit large but surprisingly comfy. I wear it all day every day and the battery life is superb! I have no regrets about this purchase!!!

I own numerous Garmin watches, (Tactix, 310xt, Forerunner 405). I used to compete in triathlons and those watches worked well. The 225 picks up satellites pretty fast and syncs with my iphone well. I've owned this watch for a couple months and really have had no issues. The only minor issue is the HR sensor...sometimes will take a few minutes to start picking up accurate readings. The display is well lit and easy to use. An issue that I see in the near future would be having to replace the wristband...I have a feeling that the band will break since it's rubber. Also, the glass/plastic face will scratch if you're not careful...I've noticed this problem with all their watches. Some of the features I really like are: sleep analyzer, step counter, and the ability to create a workout on GarminConnect and upload to watch. If you're a runner, this is a great tool. For triathletes/multisport athletes, check out the 910xt.

A runner's best friend

I bought this watch on a whim a week before my marathon. I had no idea it was so freakin' cool... I am an extremely finicky consumer, an avid runner, and an SVT heart patient. Having my heart tracked, accurately, while I run is a huge plus for me. I hate running with the old chest straps. This thing is wonderful. The GPS is off a bit at times, but just depends on where you're running and various other circumstances. I like how the watch enables me to customize my screen so it shows me pace, miles run, and heart rate. The customizations are endless and you can really make the watch your own, depending on what metrics are important to you. The battery life is impressive. What really makes me happy, is that you get to decide how much 'in your face' the watch is. I'm a minimalist, and hate the idea of wearing a wearable all day, every day. I don't use the watch to track my every step (although some may find this useful). I only wear the watch when running, and it does its job superbly. Hats off to Garmin on this one!

I'm a big Garmin fan so I opted for this watch over a Fitbit. GPS capabilities are second to none. The Garmin Connect website and Apple App have been working great and contain very detailed information for my runs. Heart monitoring from the wrist is what I was looking for at it works well. I like the integration with MyFitnessPal for tracking calorie intake. Very happy with the purchase.

With so many products to choose from this is a excellent buy. With all the features you can't go wrong. Garmin is the leader in this category and there are cheaper products but no where as good. Would buy again.

HR Monitor does not work - disappointed

I specifically purchased this watch to upgrade from my old ancient Garmin due to the fact that this had built in HR monitor. After using this consistently for 3 months training for marathon - this HR monitor is so inconsistent and does not work. I always wear FitBit (which seems to be accurate) and the 225 is always way off from my FitBit. It will also have me reading in like the low end "resting" or high "max effort" for long periods of time when actually I am running at my normal "easy aerobic pace" Overall disappointed that HR monitor does not work well and this whole watch is marketed to use for target zone actives etc... I am attempting to return or send back to garmin for replacement.

Initially, I loved this watch when I used it for a running race. For the most part, distance was accurate and I liked how it tracked my heart rate. For a grab and go watch, however, I found it wasn't as intuitive as I would have liked. I would constantly hit the wrong button or set up wacky distances accidentally.
While it does monitor sleep, it truly doesn't monitor "awake" time unless you're much more active, so it's not a great guide if you're looking to really track your sleep vs. wake time.
It's only best for running, so if you're doing multi-sports, you may wish to look elsewhere. I tried to use it to track at the very least heart rate during a spin class, and I guess I thought if it could track me on a treadmill distance wise, it could track me here too. I was wrong.
The final straw that broke the camel's back for why I would not recommend this is the lack of clarity for water rating. It says it is good for 5ATM- so you figure you could dive for about 50 feet and be well under that range. Particularly when you're traveling internationally, and don't have access to a computer, you could assume you wear it in the water for an extended period of time for a decent depth. If you think that, you would be wrong. Through a link on the water rating page on Garmin (and mentioned absolutely nowhere on the Best Buy page), you will find that you cannot take it scuba diving, even though it can go to a depth of 5ATM. As I knew I wouldn't be diving for hours, I wore it to track the time (I was just re-learning to dive so I didn't invest in a dive watch), and...my watch is now dead. I probably should have done more diligence or just not have worn the watch at all, but I thought I was safe. I thought poorly.
Now because of poor information and poor thinking, I have no recourse.

Thank you for taking the time to write a review about the Forerunner 225. We’re sorry to hear about the experience you had with the device. The Forerunner tracks your movement from being asleep to being awake after 500 steps worth of movement.
When walking indoors on a treadmill there is a way to adjust the walking and running stride inside of the Garmin Connect app. As far as the water rating goes the device can withstand the pressures equivalent to a depth of 50 meters in still water. Please email our social support team directly at [email protected] so they can discuss further options with you. Again, we thank you for your time and review. ~JH

Spent 3+ hours with various levels of Garmin tech support. No one could fix. All they did was have me reboot phone and watch 10 times and reinstall software. Phone stopped connecting with watch. Support reads out of manual as this process really should not be so complicated. Something is seriously wrong. My Vivofit always synced and never this pathetic. No mas. Terrible experience.

There is currently a bug in the software and when you swipe the screen to see your heart rate it drops to 71 and stays there. Does this over and over. Check out the Garmin forums as they are all having the same problem and getting no help from Garmin. Do not waste your money until they fix this bug!

There was very little information about how to set it up and use it. We plugged it in to charge it and it fried it. Apparently, you are only supposed to plug it into a computer to charge. That isn't very useful to me. They should have let me know. The website was no help.
