Better than buying the map updates one by one

With this card, you can download map updates for the life of the device for a one-time fee of $90 rather than the $75 for an individual update. This may sound more expensive in the short term, but it'll save you a lot of money in the long-term.
The only problem is it is a bear to get the maps installed. It takes forever to install the maps and longer to download. But you only have to do that once per year.
It's still better than buying multiple map updates over time.

Having had an Navigation unit in my Odyssey (doesn't work as well as my Garmin) that cost $149 for each annual update, I like the Garmin lifetime update program because I only paid for it one time. I appreciate receiving an email whenever an update becomes available for download. The process does take a while so I start the download and go do something else while it completes the download. I, too, had to return to Best Buy to get the purchase activated.

This might be a great card... if you for sure want it. I got it for my husband for Christmas and he decided that he didn't need it. I tried returning it to Best Buy and they told me they cannot have it returned there: we needed to have Garmin reimburse us. I called Garmin and they said that any card purchased at retailers are subject to the retailer's policies'. Purchase direct to avoid the confusion.

Bought 2 of these-one from BB since I had Reward $ and one from Newegg. Newegg card was fine. Had to go to BB store to get their's activated.
Very crummy experience overall for what should have been a simple online transaction.

Tried to down load map up date to my GPS and it wiped out everything in my Garmin. Numaps cost me $90.00 and after it wiped out my Garmin I had to go buy a new one right away.
