I bought this GPS as an upgrade over my three year old model. It does exactly what I expected and performs flawlessly. Very happy and would recommend.

I purchased this product because I was tired of using my phone as a GPS device. I like the fact it has bluetooth capability and hasn't given me bad directions.

I have an old Nuvi that needed map updates, I decided to purchase a new one with life time maps updates. As soon as I got the new Nuvi I connected it to my computer and completed maps updates. With the so called update maps I planed a trip to Silver Springs. The GPS maps took me 4 miles further North and then back to the road that goes to the Park. It did locate the hotel where we stayed after visiting the park. When I selected a restaurant from those shown on the unit, it sent me on a trip of over 5 miles to a deserted shopping center. The restaurant I wanted was one quarter mile from where I started. When I requested a detour due to a traffic backup near Atlanta on South bound I-75, the GPS sent me almost to Alabama, before I turned it off and asked for directions at a gas station; I was 20 miles away from where I could have gotten back to I-75. My old Nuvi outdated maps was more accurate, but it was not up to date with new roads and restaurants. The new Garmin updated maps leave a lot to be desired. I wish I could download Google maps to the Garmin. The traffic alert lets you know ahead of time about traffic delays and that you are stuck in a traffic jam. It does not show all the school zones, specially in rural areas, it does not show all the roads in rural areas either, be careful if you drive in country roads.

This model is great. Touch screen is responsive and the model is fast to react. It connects to your phone with bluetooth if need be. I have used to answer a call before and it does the job pretty well if you need that functionality. Foursquare functionality is a little weird and worked ok. I wish there were more apps that you could have used instead. There are apps that you can install to help you plan a trip and I installed those on my Mac. When planning a trip for vacation it was a little more difficult than it needed to be when using the computer to sync with the GPS unit itself. I wish that it was more simple or that there was a guide for planning out your trip. It is something I will need to have a lot more time with. As for standard GPS units go I would highly recommend this model. It has a bright screen. Loud speaker. Great touch screen. Responsive. And it requires no data obviously. The only true downfall is the way that it zooms upon a turn that you are about to make. When this happens the arrow that tells you which direction to turn sometimes covers up the road that you need to turn on and you dont know which actual road to take. This only happens when there are two road back to back or exits close together but this happened quite a few times on my trip and I missed those turns. It recalculated instantly but that little annoyance dropped it from 5 stars.

This one is clearly the best...because of refined quality of the basic maps and because of the new features such as voice commands, clearer sentence explanations of upcoming turns and lanes, and more details on the screen. The new features required a brief learning curve, but I sure do like them and very comfortable with them only one week after my purchase. It does everything I need/want it to and more I've discovered and use regularly now!

The first thing I did was update this GPS and It has many great features. It does a great job. There are some roads in my area not shown yet, but even some of those roads are too new, that even Google doesn't have them on their maps yet. I am constantly checking different things on this GPS, and the voice activation to set points makes it much easier and safer.

I love Garmin GPS units. However, the map colors that you can select from need work. The older units (5-7 years older) have better detail to me. Also I wish there was a way to turn off POI when I don't need them.

Overall the GPS performs very well. The only thing keeping it from five stars in the voice recognition on certain words. While it does recognize 95% of my words, there are certain ones that you have to type in.

Battery life is terrible - about 20 minutes with a full charge. This is really unacceptable - they might as well NOT include a battery since is has to be always plugged in. No AC charger, either. Maps are excellent. Voice command is frustratingly difficult to use due to it's very poor voice recognition. Although is seems to use some traffic data, it is no match for Google in any regard. Does not auto adjust orientation and menu items often are not easy to find. (I've used my other Garmin GPS for over 10 years.) The size is nice and slim. Easy to carry but no protective pouch or guard offered. In fact, they don't even tell you the part number for the suction mount or car adaptor - I'd like another set for my other vehicles so I only have to move the unit. It's pretty good. I don't have much to compare other than my antique Garmin which I still love - but my old one is out of date. I got this as a gift and it's fine. Summary: I wish the battery and voice command were better AND better traffic alerts to accidents etc, is sort of expected these days. I still always check Google for better timing estimates. Also, I'd like to be able to see ETA and how many minutes left in the trip simultaneously. Oh, the suction mount stays on the window if the GPS is removed, but if I leave the GPS in place and leave the car, it seems to always fall. It has stayed in place for a few hour drive, however.

I bought this during a trip because I forgot mine at home.
I have the prior version of these one.
I only use the standard features of the GPS so I can't comment on bluetooth or any other gadgets.
It's fast in finding signal and routes. I like the notifications for to traffic delays and the pictures shown on major junctions in the highway.
The real directions voices are very helpful too.
I don't have any complaints.

Previously had a Garmin 2555lmt that was used daily that had went out and upgraded to the 2589lmt and the screen is a lot brighter and is true touch screen like on your phone where as the 2555 was like having a case over your phone where you felt plastic between your finger and the screen, can be synced to your phone through bluetooth so you can talk through it as a hands free device as well, alternate route options and many other features.

So far I am happy with my latest Garmin Nuvi. My previous Nuvi's battery died...a little early in my opinion,,,but I liked that model and so decided to purchase another Nuvi and it is working great. I do wish another option for charging the battery would be provided by Garmin, however, as the only charging method is to charge in my car and it would be nice to be able to charge it in an electrical outlet in my home, if I so desired.
