This is my second Garmin GPS as my old one was stolen. I decided to upgrade on the new one and I am very glad I did. The voice command feature is great and very usefull. It shows which lanes you should be traveling in to make your exits when on the freeways. I also like the smooth touchscreen feel, which is similar to a smartphone.

Gives great directions and is easy to understand! Our GPS broke while on a trip and I went to Best Buy and took the clerk's recommendation on this model and am so glad I did. It is the best GPS we have ever had. We were very comfortable with this GPS the first time we used it. I would definitely recommend this to anyone!

I bought this for my son for his birthday. he previously had a Garmin 2595 LMT prior until it got stolen..After purchasing this one, so far he says the functions are prompt, and very easy to use, Directions are very Persis and the touch screen loads quickly. He really likes this device, Great buy, and happy customer, Thanks!

The garmin-nuvi2589LMT is the easiest system to use especially for someone like who is technology inclined. I like that it shows where the nearest gas,restaurants and hotels are to you. It even tells you what the speed limit is and what speed you are traveling at. Tells you of delays or alternate route. Just love it.

I purchased this GPS to replace an aging TomTom that didn't include lifetime maps. The key features I wanted were lifetime maps, traffic and the ability to use voice commands. This unit offers these and more. Navigation - 5 stars The unit finds the satellites quickly and re-routes quickly if you miss a turn. The lane assist feature works very well for complicated traffic exchanges. The native voice speaks in a more natural language, which makes it easier to follow the directions. Traffic - 4 The traffic feature works, but not as good as Google Maps. I wish the GPS gave me options of routes versus just selecting the route it thinks is best based on traffic. I've run into a few issues (traffic jams) because of this. Also, I wish it showed the traffic on the route ahead in a different color similar to Google Maps, as I find it helpful to prepare for the stopped traffic. On the plus side, I've had the traffic feature warn me of delays in areas that I didn't think were covered by the traffic service. Bluetooth (voice commands) - 5 Using voice commands via Bluetooth to interact with the GPS is well thought out and executed. The voice commands that work best are entering an address, searching through the recently found list, making a phone call, and adjusting the volume. You activate the feature by saying "Voice Command". Bluetooth (phone speakerphone) - 4 I ended up buying a 2nd unit for the speakerphone for my wife, because she had been using the speaker in her iPhone7. The sound quality of my voice for the person I call is very good (almost as good as my Plantronics noise cancelling hands free device). The sound quality coming out of the GPS wasn't loud enough for me to always hear it on the highway. It possible that's a function of my car and not the GPS. Searching by name - 3 This feature is spotty. Sometimes, it works great. Other times, the choices it returns are so far off that it's comical Communicating with your smartphone - 1 This feature is buggy at best. It was very difficult to get the app to connect to the GPS. It's awkward that it seems to use a second Bluetooth connection. Using the app to find things is significantly worse than the GPS. I haven't successfully been able to send any information from my phone to the GPS. In my eyes, Google Maps is the gold standard as far as smartphone navigation. If you have used it or others like it, you wont ever want to go back into the Garmin Smartlink app after your first use. I hope this helps.

Bought a Megellan with dashboard camera thought I would try something other then Garmen. Big mistake!!! Locked up all the time. Got this one and works like a charm. Never locked up and connects to sats quickly. Easy to hear and understand directions.

pros: blue tooth, voice command, school zone notification work well. this gps learned that I leave work at the same time each day and tells me how much time it will take to get home, and if there is any traffic without setting destination. cons: seams to be off by about 70 feet, I will be turning in an intersection but it will tell me I am 70 feet away from it. I tried to see if there is a calibration for this, but have not found one yet. If it was more accurate I would give 5 stars.

I love this GPS. The screen is the right size. The directions are clear and precise. I took a trip from Ohio to Maryland and had no problems with the directions. I like the way the screen splits and shows which way to go, my old GPS didn't do that.

Screen size, thickness, and clarity is perfect. Voice conmand and directions are also great. Does have the option to type in also. Haven't tried bluetoothing just yet but I sure it's a plus

I purchased a new car but didn't spend the extra money to get navigation built in like my friend did. This garmin does everything the built in does and has additional features such as estimated arrival time and better traffic notification. The screen is not as large as s built in but can be positioned where I want it and is clear and easily seen. I am very happy with this purchase. It has been accurate on the trips I have used it for as well.

I bought this GPS to upgrade from a lower Nuvi model. I found that this model works much better - the screen is more responsive and destination information is more precise and accurate. I would recommend this model over lower models.

This GPS Unit is fantastic for navigation all over the country. I love it! The one con is the Voice Command option. It doesn't work with road noise in the background, or if you are trying to find anything with a foreign, American Indian, Spanish etc., name.

Easy to use and very accurate directions. Love the Bluetooth as it works great. The lifetime maps and traffic updates are a big plus also Couldn't be more pleased with this item.

I used this for extended travel here in the U.S. this summer and it was super. My onboard navigation system in my vehicle couldn't keep up. Inputting destinations or looking for a gas station this thing makes it all easy and displays the information you need. Great product, highly recommend.

I have had two Garmin GPS's previously so when it was time to buy another one there was no choice but to go with Garmin again. The 2589 LMT is packed with features I wanted like voice activation. Always good quality and reasonable prices. I highly recommend Garmin to anyone looking for a GPS.

I really like this GPS because it tells you to "turn at the traffic light" instead of turn in .3 miles. This makes it easier for me to find and make turns. I also like how you can use a bluetooth connection with your phone (so you can make phone calls). This is one of the best GPS's I've ever had!

I absolutely love this GPS. Its a definite step up from my old one. I only give 4 stars because the charger didn't come with the built in traffic device like my old one did so no i have to spend more money again to get the traffic equipped charger.

I am very happy with this unit. Display is great, bluetooth works well and the navigation is fast and accurate. I like that many destinations can be entered and arranged in order I want to visit them. The free updates are handy too. I do not have enough experience with the traffic yet, to comment.

Easy to install and set up. Large screen helps navigation. Blue tooth provides hands free phone use. Puts my truck on a par with the installed system in my newer vehicle.

After researching various GPS items for my car I settles on the Garmin Nuvi 2589LMT. Easy to program and instructions are easy to understand. Great GPS for a first time buyer or for more experienced users. Lifetime Map and traffic updates just add to its value. A great GPS at a great price.
