Customers recognize the nüvi 2689LMT's large screen size and intuitive design as significant advantages, frequently praising its ease of use and accurate GPS navigation. Positive feedback also highlights the helpfulness of features like voice commands, live traffic updates, and lane assist. A common concern, however, centers around the device's battery life.

GPS For those who need reading glasses.

I love it. I can see it without my reading glasses. The traffic is good and bad. Sometimes it knows when your in traffic and shows you and sometimes it doesn't. You have to look at your GPS when it tells you to turn because you may turn when it is not time. It gives you a few feet warning to turn but you may be coming up on another street writhing its warning. It does not tell you street names to turn at. Other then that it is a great GPS for the price. My GPS got me to my photo with no problems. :)

This model is light years in advance over my previous unit which I've had for 2+ years. I wish now my older unit had quit sooner. I really am enjoying it and the accuracy is unrivaled.

I've been a Garmin costumer for quite of years since they have the best navigation systems. This particular model is another hit for them regarding appearance and functionality, voice over command is really accurate as well as the address searching, in the previous model I own the nüvi 3790T , I had to enter the state, city, street and number when searching an address, in this one I only enter the number and street and Voila!, the gps search within the four nearest states from where you are, if not you will have to enter the state manually. I don't like the mini-USB plug power connector in the back side, I liked it more in the bottom side as the previous model, neither I like the clip holder, really uncomfortable and tricky to attach, also is a little bit bulky but screen size and resolution are great!

I love the voice command on this unit. This is my 5th Garmin. I have passed them on to my daughter and granddaughter. It gives me an excuse to upgrade to the latest. This one is the best. It makes it easy to drive and find what you need. No sitting on the side of the road and waiting for it to catch up with you. I have been on 3 trips since I purchased this unit and it is a keeper.

My husband and I had bought a Garmin Nuvi years ago and were always happy with the way that the model worked. This new model seems to retain the best qualities of the early version and added many more features. The screen is, as you would expect, so improved over the previous screens; very easy to understand. We opted for the 6" screen, as it really seemed to make a difference in viewing, yet it's not too big. We like the fact that you can easily mark locations and group them. One great feature is that you can set the GPS hands-free; you just assign it a phrase to activate the feature and you can tell it your destination, or to look for a destination that matches your needs. But one of the best features...when you want to deviate from the planned course, no more listening to "recalculating"! All in all, the Garmin is still a great device...it's kept what was always good about it and improved it.

Great GPS Much Better Than Tom Tom

I previously used only Tom Tom GPS products but I decided to try Garmin after rave reviews from my coworkers. I am very pleased with my new Garmin GPS. It works well on long trips or just around town. The voice recognition, live traffic updates, and Bluetooth phone connection are great. The GPS came with free lifetime maps and traffic updates. This service usually costs extra on other GPS units. The only problem I have with the Garmin GPS is that the window suction mounting bracket is not stable and will fall off of your windshield while you are driving. This happened to me after using the windshield suction mount for only 4 days. I purchased the Garmin weighted dash mount and it works much better than the suction cup mount. It can be easily put away when you park, and unlike the suction mount that leaves circle prints on your windshield advertising to everyone that you have a GPS, it doesn't leave a trace. Garmin should give you the option to choose which GPS mount you would like to have. Overall, the GPS is great but the windshield mount will not hold suction and seems to be unsafe.

Overall my nuvi 2689LMT has performed well. The screen is large and easy to see detail. Navigation is pretty clear and detailed. Lots of extra features that are nice, overall a very good product. However, I have had limited success with voice commands, it doesn't seem to understand very well most times and others it picks right up. Also, it has the ability to Bluetooth phone calls which is nice, but the audio could be a little better. I'm rating it a strong, solid 4 stars.

Does exactly what I wanted. User friendly and intuitive controls. Voice commands work really well, Foursquare app able to find business or waypoints easily and integrate into existing route. Traffic warns you of possible delays along route, even if it's still 50 miles away. Huge upgrade from an 8 year old TomTom. Glad to buy something I'm not disappointed with.

Excellent GPS Unit

The Garmin nuvi 2689 6" gps is an excellent unit. This is my second Garmin. My previous one was a 1490 5". It was great until I accidently broke the screen and rendered it useless. The larger screen on the 2689 is much better, and I love the Voice Command feature. The verbal directions provided by the unit are much improved and easier to understand and follow. The split screens that automatically pop up as you near major highway interchanges is also extremely helpful, as it shows a photo-realistic picture of the upcoming ramp and signage to be looking for, along with accurate information directing you into the proper lane to be in. And getting free lifetime maps and traffic service is fantastic. No more additional cost in the future to ensure maps and POIs are up to date. And Garmin updates its software to continually improve the functionality through the same free update service. This unit is well worth the reasonable price.

Larger screen makes a difference for those who require more than the voice guide option..... Navigation works incredibly, especially in cases of split roads, or split roads leading into traffic.... Felt confident during a first time use in a heavy traffic metropolitan area.... Don't forget your charger as the battery will die in an hour..... Other than that, I would recommend to anyone.

Size of the screen is easy to see. Directions have been 100% accurate. Was very easy to set-up to use with my phone - so now while I am in my car my phone can be used through the Garmin GPS - have made and received several phone calls without any issues.

I took my daughter to Florida from Pennsylvania(she is 12 so she can't drive) and I was only driver. This GPS was the perfect co-pilot. User friendly and extremely easy to figure out. Only problem I had was that it lost suction and fell off of my windshield twice. Luckily it didn't crack the screen. This version doesn't have any protection for the screen so I was surprised it didn't break. The floor model at the store had a cracked screen and now I think I should have used that as a red flag. The corners are sharp too. If it falls off and hits someone in the leg, it could be painful.

Garmin Makes Great Stuff !

The "nuvi 2689 LMT 6" GPS by Garmin is Sweet !
It is User Friendly & the Screen Size is Awesome !
Readable at a Glance, with Voice Assist, Split Screen, True Road Signs, & Lane Following, Make the Large Screen Information:
"Easy on the Eyes..... !"
Garmin does it Again !
It's Worth Buying.....
---BUT---
Only DRAWBARK is Garmin, & ALL the GPS Manufacturers Need Better ICONS for the POI's. They ALL USE Mostly Irrelevant Icons for Everday Life, Garmin is No Different, You Need Both Meaningful & Useful Icons. It is Difficult to Separate Your Important Stuff from the Pre-Packaged Canned POI's, that ALL the GPS Manufacturers Provide & that I Find Distracting, at Times, on the Screen.
So, Add a Button that Options:
"My POI's"
"Their POI's"
"All POI's"
"Mine with Some of There POI's"
I'd also Like to See Information Available that Appears on the - DMS - Dynamic Messaging Signs - Please Show DMS Location & Messages Like:
"Amber Alert !"
"Flooding"
"Winter Storm Warning"
"Follow Detour Marked "D, E, F etc."
"Road Closed @ Exit (MP)"

Not cheap. You get what you pay for. This GPS offers a host of navigational capabilities. The AI in this unit is fully developed, just like a friend talking to you that already knows where you want to go. It does Bluetooth through your smart phone, pulls up a radar map of that hurricane storm cell your running away from and offers foresquare information on interesting things you can see along your trip. Lifetime updates and traffic advisories too. Remember, you get what you pay for!

Garmin nüvi 2689LMT - Very Nice GPS

This is an additional GPS to my TomTom Start 55M, which can no longer store the entire USA map. The 55M is/was a very good GPS. The Garmin does everything the TomTom did but has some big PLUS features.
PROS: (1) My favorite is Voice Command mode, where you simply tell the GPS (talk) what you're looking for or where you want to go. This does away with having to physically touch it while driving. (2) It automatically turns on and off when you start or shut off your car. (3) The six-inch screen although somewhat larger than a five-inch one is not substantially larger when dash mounted. (4) The screen colors and display are brightly lit.
CONS: The only "slightly negative" thing is the reflectivity of the screen when driving directly into the sun.
MY OVERALL RATING: 9.5 out of 10 -- This is a GOOD GPS...

Much better than previous GPS's. Love the bluetooth feature. Larger screen. I wish you could change the route. Traveling from Tennessee to Florida, the gps routed us thru the panhandle. Best route. but weather was very bad in panhandle and we could not reroute GPS so we had to go to standard maps.

I bought this product because we drive everywhere for vacation, So I wanted a bigger screen for better visibility reasons and this was perfect for that. I also wanted something to help navigate me around traffic jams and this did that great as well. A few options that were really helpful were the landmark navigation it told me things to look for at certain areas to help me know where to turn. Also the lane assist feature was amazing it tells you what lanes to be in way in advance so you can navigate lanes safely to be in the lane you need to be in. All in all I am very happy with this product.

Love the lifetime map and traffic. Big screen but not too big. Very easy to use - pretty much like my old GPS, I just wish they would give you a printed manual instead of making it a download.
