Replaced Amazon Halo View with a proper smart watch/fitness tracker. Tracks my two primary exercises (walking and indoor rowing) well. Not using notifications, O2, and other feature and i get charge to last over 7 days. Full features enabled and it 3 or 4 days.

After much research I decided to purchase the Garmin Venu watch. While it doesn't have all the bells & whistles of the apple watch or the Samsung Activ 2 watch if you are wanting an excellent watch to track your health this one far outweighs either of the above. I tried out the Activ2 & returned it keeping the Venu as my fitness watch. I LOVE this watch! It is a little difficult to figure out when you first start using it but there are excellent step by step instructions & videos out there to help you. The battery lasts much longer than the Activ2 & it charges quickly. This watch has only left my wrist long enough to charge it. Again, I LOVE it.

I like the watch i wont say its a bad buy. Is it a little expensive for what samsung and apple sells for. Its a lot better at the health metrics than Samsung and i feel apple. But both those devices can do a boat load more than the garmin. The plus is battery life is like 4 or 5 days on the garmin. My wifes apple watch is basically dead all the time and this garmin basically never charges. I personally dont care about controlling my house from my watch or answering the wrist phone. I like the health side and its great at that. I have been better at water intake, steps, daily calories burned compared to rest and active calories burned has been beneficial for me and i feel good. So i would buy again just wish it was more like a $280 price point

I went for Garmin because I prefer the round watch body over a square shaped case. Just my personal choice. I wanted a fitness watch with GPS and music option without burning a hole in my pocket. I was not looking for cellular option. I have been using it regularly for last three weeks and here is my opinion on Garmin venu so far:
Pros:
1. It has an impressive AMOLED display with responsive touchscreen
2. PulseOx monitor is a great feather on this watch in current situation
3. The battery life is great. It lasts more than 3-4 days on a single charge (drains faster with pulseOx turned on)
4. Works great with Amazon music
5. The Garmin Connect app is very useful and can be easily synced with MyfitnessPal app
6. Connects seamlessly with iphone
Cons:
1. The visibility of the screen may be hampered under strong daylight. You may have to notch up the brightness a bit
2. The dial of the watch has a fixed diameter of 43 mm, no other option
3. I feel the standard silicone band that comes with the watch is not very skin friendly if used continuously for long periods. It made my skin itchy and I had mild rashes. I had to spend an extra 60 USD to buy a leather band separately. Garmin should offer to customize the case and band like apple does with their smartwatches
Overall, I feel the pros outweigh the cons and make this fitness watch a great purchase. Provide more customizability Garmin, if you are reading this!

I bought this for my wife, and she absolutely loves it! Since she started using it, she’s become much more active. The watch has been a fantastic tool for maintaining a healthy lifestyle, with features that track sleep, hydration, stress levels, heart rate, and more. I highly recommend this Garmin.

I have had this watch for about 3 weeks now and overall, I think it's fantastic. I was considering this one, Garmen Vivio or Samsung Active2 watch.
Picked this one over the Samsung because the running (and activity features) are more robust on this one, with plenty of storage for music (the Samsung has low storage). You do need to have a $10/month Spotify to use the music - I'm not mad at it because Spotify has amazing lists. The upload is a bit slow (10 minutes for 100 track playlist) but whatever.
I love the animation option for Activities, like with Yoga, which has inspired me to start Yoga (downloaded Yoga for Runners)! Great tracking overall and love the Stress feature, which will notify you to BREATHE! when you're elevated.
I have already run a half-marathon with the watch and did not lose Bluetooth connection to my headphones or GPS connection, and no music rate drops. This was a game-changer for those who may be familiar with not being able to keep service during running events due to everyone trying to use the service at once.
The watch connects well with my Samsung Note, and I receive texts & email notifications very quickly (within Bluetooth distance), with the ability to send messages from the watch. This is great for when in meetings or driving! The Samsung watch was questionable with the ability to message unless you pay about $400 (same price) for the LTE enabled option. Then, it's an extra cost per month on your phone bill. With the Venu, you don't have to worry about monthly costs associated - and I'm not the type to make phone calls from my smartwatch.
I picked the Venu over the Vivio ($350) because I really did fall in love with the OLED. It's attractive to look at and very responsive to touch and movement (but not obnoxiously overly sensitive). You could just get the Vivio for $50 less if you don't care about the OLED. I agree with others that Garmen should do an update and better utilize the screen resolution, which I think could come from better app support So the -1 star is just for that, that's it! But at this price point, the expectation is there - especially when you can get the same watch for $50 less.
I never write product reviews but felt inspired because I couldn't find any consumer info on this product when I purchased it. It really is the best watch if you are active, don't have an iPhone, and don't care about the LTE.

Screen quality is phenomenal. I've used a few different phones with it now, and have mixed results depending on the platform you're on. They all work but some have many hoops or repeat attempts needed for pairing/communication compatibility, etc. If you're running Pie or later on droid, via the Google Fi or Samsung platforms, the results are pretty good. It was a trick getting by Beats headphones to work with them. It's comfortable, attractive, and the battery life is good - I get at least a full day unless I go for a 3+ hour run playing music with PulseOx on.

I'm 40, and have an auto immune disease so monitoring multiple health issues is a must have for me, and my Apple Watch was leaving marks on my arm from being allergic to the metals on the back of it.
I did a lot of research and decided to go with the Garmin Venu, and have been pleasantly surprised at how easy it is to set up, thrilled with the health monitoring controls, and how long the battery lasts.
My husband saw how much I liked my watch, and he decided to get one for himself a few weeks later.

The short story; get this if you want a watch that gets the out of the box things right along with a good music-on-watch experience and don't need/care about apps that works great on iOS or Android. This or the apple apple watch are the only good ones that cover all the basics.
This is fantastic alternative for other smart watches. Yeah there's the samsung wearables, the apple watch, fitbits, and WearOS might as well be dead until google gets interested with it again, but this gets enough right. While samsung's wearables get the basics right out of the box, their appstore for the watch might as well not exist and I have never gotten Spotify to work on any of them which should be simple enough. Sure apple by far and way makes the best smart watch, buts it means you're tied to the ecosystem and Spotify doesn't like to stream from my apple watch without my iPhone around even though it is the cellular watch. I have not used fitbit but it seems they have been falling behind and are charging subscription fees for things that these other watches offer for free while trying to charge comparable prices so no thanks. Finally WearOS is functional, more so than samsung or fitbit, but you need the latest Qualcomm chips to not have a laggy mess of a time. Now for Garmin watches. The bad is the appstore is also laughable but thats because there just isn't enough there. Getting watchfaces and music services like Spotify or Amazon music is really easy and works just as well as on the apple side, albeit with not as much of a polished look, but don't expect anything beyond that. The charger is proprietary and not magnetic like the apple one but the watch charges fast and you can get a USB c one on Amazon (all hail USB C). The animations might be slightly slow, but nothing that would anyway ruin the experience. Now, the upsides are the screen is great, the battery life is superb even with using the GPS and playing music over Bluetooth, it can hold up to 500 songs, and it is great for an amateur athlete. If you're going for a professional training watch then use something like the Garmin Fenix or Forerunner family. The watch has a bit of a learning curve but it becomes intuitive and the accompanying connect app is competitive with the apple watch one. A great overall watch.

First "smart" watch, or tracking watch. I am not a techy person at all, but set up wasn't too hard (I just had my wife do it haha). The app is pretty cool and the breakdown of your runs is very simple to understand! Although I've ran for years, I just need the tracking to be simple. I can't speak to the other tracking activities.
Lost a star on battery life, and the GPS for the run sometimes doesn't track.

As someone who was a long time Fitbit customer, I have found this to be a refreshing upgrade. The interface is nice, clean, and straight forward. The app for the phone is well laid out, provides excellent details and is very flexible. I enjoy the feedback received along my runs and walks as I achieve (and over achieve) daily goals. And the weekly and monthly challenges keep me motivated to continue working out. The GPS function works well, both as a stand alone device or when working out with your smartphone. A few areas where I think there could be some improvement are:
- Bluetooth connectivity-I have found the watch will periodically drop the connection with my phone and I will not receive notifications.
- Notification flexibility-The options are limited as to what notifications you receive (calls, texts, or everything). This means if all you want are phone calls, texts, and calendar reminders you will receive all of the notifications you have activated on your phone.
- Charging cable-I have found the charging cable to be a bit flaky. Once I connect the cable and then set the watch down, it may or may not stay connected and continue charging. I think a cradle solution would provide greater security and reliability for charging, synching and ensuring updates are performed successfully.

The Garmin Venu was purchased for my husband who enjoys swimming for exercise. The battery is long-lasting and charges quickly when needed. The watch is easy to use to track sleeping patterns, exercises, and activity. It also monitors your energy level and suggests that you take a nap when your energy is low. Great value for the price of an awesome fitness smart watch!

When I decided to move on from another fitness tracker to more of a smart watch, I checked out what was on the market and took a gamble with the Garmin Venu. It is an attractive LED based device. I've knew of Garmin's GPS products but had not been aware of their wide range of fitness devices. I want to keep track of my activity and intake but I'm not into lots of outdoor activities such as skiing or golf or wilderness hiking. Garmin has devices made for those activities and the Venu can handle some of that as well. I use the Venu for tracking my steps and walks and my treadmill work, to check on my sleep, my stress and my heart rate. Garmin's companion Connect app does a lot with the data the Venu records. I've learned a lot about myself. I've also compared the information the Venu provides with the heart rate and O2 levels checked when I visit the doctor and found it to be very accurate. I pair my Venu with wireless ear buds for treadmill or walks with ease and use the GPS feature on walks as well to keep a record of my destinations. I am so glad I decided to trade up to Garmin.

Easy to use, extrely light, long lasting battery, long list of parameters recorded, gps works like a charm, flexebility of wireless pay.
If you want a watch that is non invasive by that i mean you dont feel like you are wearing it. Also the option of turning off useless notifications is awsome. For me i wanted a watch that served its purpose without being an extension of a cell phone. If i want to reply yo text or recieve calls i wouñd rather do it from my phone.

Still a solid watch for 2023. Activity monitoring seems accurate as expected. Watch is comfortable to wear and sleep with. Wish the battery lasted a little longer than the advertised 5 days but not a huge issue since charging doesn't take too long. Quick release straps make it easy to change bands without additional tools.
