Built in GPS is Light version without mapping
||Posted . Owned for 3 weeks when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. The Garmin Venu Sq GPS Smartwatch is a Light or stripped down version without the ability to provide navigation by route or maps. The GPS is used to measure exercise metrics is useful but not what most user would like in a built in GPS Smartwatch. That is the reason the price is lower than other GPS watches.

not as I expected
||Posted . Owned for 6 months when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I had more expectations with the Garmin, it is good but you have to download two applications to use it. I also feel that one of the buttons is failing.

Fabulous smartwatch for the money
||Posted . Owned for 6 months when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. This smartwatch impresses with its sleek design and comprehensive fitness features. The square display offers vibrant visuals, and the built-in GPS ensures accurate tracking during outdoor activities. With a wide array of health metrics, including heart rate monitoring and sleep analysis, it caters to fitness enthusiasts. The user-friendly interface and customizable watch faces enhance the overall user experience. While battery life is commendable, the absence of built-in music storage may disappoint some users. Nevertheless, it stands out as a reliable and affordable smartwatch for fitness-focused individuals.

Good Health Monitoring. Notifications are annoying
||Posted . Owned for 3 months when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Good price. Good item. Measures heart rate really well all day. Measures stress levels really good all day. The face got a scratch within 24 hours, so I'd say the glass on the face is a little weak. I'm afraid it's going to be hard to read and see the face quickly but otherwise, it was the best price for what I need it for. Also, omg, I'm so glad the software has the option to ignore future notifications from your phone. After you pair it to your phone, you get like EVERY notification on your phone, on your wrist too. Who in the world needs that?! Thankfully, each new notification on the wrist screen has the option to "turn off all future notifications". After a few days of learning and turning off notifications, this is a pretty good health watch, which is all I need it for. Good if you don't need to text on it, and don't want to. Also good if you don't need to make phone calls on it, and don't want to. Oh and battery life is great, like almost 2 weeks per charge.

Wishing I had tried Garmin sooner
||Posted . Owned for 1 month when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I have had several Fitbits but when my most recent one died within 18 months of buying it and before Fitbit had managed to come out with a new model, I was frustrated and gave up on fitness trackers for several months. But I missed having a watch. I got annoyed with manually tracking my workouts. It's easier to maintain a calorie deficit when I'm not guessing at how many calories I'm burning. I got a great deal on this Garmin smartwatch and I'm hoping it will be more durable than Fitbits. Garmin does a great job at gamifying beating your personal best. It has the basic features I'd expect from a smart watch. And it will tell you when it loses track of your phone giving you an alert when you've left your phone behind, a feature for some reason missing from Fitbit. The only drawback was I found the original band to feel just awful against my skin. I couldn't stand the cheap feel of the plastic. But I replaced it with a stainless steel mesh band for about $10 and I am happy. It seems that Garmin makes their watchband standard across several products instead of it being a different one for each model and release.

Awesome Watch
||Posted . Owned for 3 weeks when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I had previously been with Garmin for years before FitBit introduced their charge series and I've used Charge 3, 4 and 5. I liked the size and ease of use but constantly having their batteries die just out of warranty finally made me switch back. Just for the record I've had 5 FitBits in 6 years and I average 20k+ steps a day. Now for this watch: it does everything FitBit does but better. It's a little larger than the Charge 5 but it has a beautiful screen, doesn't trigger mistake taps as easily and it's battery life runs laps around FitBit. Did I mention it is also cheaper? Or at least it was when I purchased. If you are on the fence between this and a Fitbit.. go Garmin all the way. I've used both for years.

Great then broke
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I had this for about 3 years when it broke. I loved how small it was, it did everything it was supposed to do. I actually had a larger better gamrin before this but i just hate having a large watch on my tiny wrist. That's why i purchased this one. It wasn't because it was cheaper. The problem is that the sensor on the back isn't encased in the frame. It is just glued, and the glue gets compromised over years of hand washing, etc. The sensor popped out one day. I used tape to keep it in but eventually it came out and the PCB connection tore. When i look at the ugrades, the sensor is encased in the frames. I wish there was a smaller watch with the capabilities and guality of the larger ones.

Good golf gps watch
||Posted . Owned for 1 month when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. This watch I was told to be the least expensive watch with golf gps. I don't know if that's true or not but it was about $125 and it does have golf gps. It certainly is not the easiest thing to learn how to use but I have figured out how to get the golf gps to work. I used it for the first time the other day. I preset up the golf courses on my are through an app on my phone. I worked quite well most of the time. At one point it end d up on the wrong hole, and after some tinkering I figured out how to switch holes back to the correct one. It tells you front, middle, and back of the green distance from wherever you are in relation to the hole you're on. For the most part it automatically goes to the next hole when you get to the tee box. Unless you hit some buttons to accidentally change it like I did. Apparently you touch the top or bottom of the screen to move up or down a hole. Overall it works great and I know how far from the hole I am at all times. Can't improve my swing any though lol. The watch looks good and tells time and probably does more things but I probably will not do them as I don't usually wear a watch. I was told if I wanted I could set it up to make calls if I was willing to pay a monthly fee. I was not. Another thing of note is if my wrist was any bigger It wouldn't fit in my arm, although it did loosen some after a bit. This watch also is rechargeable no issues yet.

Venu sq
||Posted . Owned for 7 months when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I have the Garmin Venu and wanted a watch to switch to when the other is charging and needed a different look. The round Venu has the nice screen, which to me, not a huge deal. But it seems the Venu sq constantly has connectivity issues, loses connection to my phone. The screen changes are also slower, perhaps a slower processor, not sure. The watch performs ok, but when compared to the round Venu it's definitely slower in all aspects. The watch batter on the sq lasts about two days longer and I use the watches in the same fashion and do not have the active screen in use on round Venu. Overall the watch works well, just not as great as the round OLED version.

HR and more
||Posted . Owned for 3 weeks when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I previously had 2 Garmin Vivoactive HR devices that worked for about 2 years and then tapped out. One just died as if the memory was full and would no longer work. The other leaked water while swimming in a pool and died. I asked, and Garmin said they would refurbish them for $125 each. This device works similarly to the Vivoactive, with some similar features, an interface and charging cord and minimal instructions. The device has a number of build-in features that can be accessed through a touch screen face and two buttons. So far, it works okay, and I download most of my data to the Garmin App on my phone to read any data. The display is clear and the watch is no bulky or uncomfortable. It accurately records the data, but can be hard to read as you swipe, tap buttons and scroll through the menus. Since I'm a guy, I don't need the menstruation app, and will check to see if I can delete this function so I can work other programs. Overall, it's not as good as the Vivoactive HR, but it is a great recording device, lets you know when you get an alarm, email or text on your phone and is relatively inexpencive at $130.

Replaced A Fitbit
||Posted . Owned for 4 months when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. This smartwatch replaced a Fitbit Alta that lasted about 5 years. I bought this Garmin because it works with Windows and I can monitor things from our desktop computer since I don’t own a smartphone. After Google bought out Fitbit, I could no longer monitor activities on our Windows computer. So much for Fitbits. I found this a little more difficult to set up than anticipated, but an online video was helpful. My needs are simple and now I am only monitoring steps and heart rate during the day and adding pulse ox at night for more accurate sleep monitoring. The pulse ox doesn't seem to be very accurate. I like the choice of clock faces and have chosen one geared toward those of us who are older. One limitation is that the smartwatch itself provides no sleep monitoring information; one must inconveniently go to Garmin Connect to get that info. Step counting has been quite accurate the many times I have counted my steps while walking. One has to actually walk for the Venu Sq to count steps whereas the Fitbit counted steps even when I wasn’t walking, as long as I was moving my arm (not very accurate). Battery life has been good at about 8 days. This was a really good deal for the $100 I paid on sale.

Garmin Venu Sq
||Posted . Owned for 2 months when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I love the sleep tracking since I have a hard time sleeping it tells me when I actually get good REM sleep. I love the heart beat and Pulse Ox features. The ability to track a women's period is a handy tool. The notifications are great although I had to limit my sports notifications because it was going off too much. Battery life is pretty good lasts about a week just find the bluetooth drains my phone battery faster but that's ok. Timers all work as needed. I need a new watchband because the silicone cuts into my wrist a bit.
