    Great device for fitness

It can do the basic functions like measure your steps but it also has a notifications system so whenever you get something important, it'll let you know. It has a wonderful vibrating alarm feature so that it only wakes you up and no one else. You can pair up the heart rate sensor to give you information about your latest exercise. Garmin Connect is great, not the best, but definitely great. The real selling point for this over Fitbit was the style of the screen to where unless you really look, it looks like a normal band + the waterproofing. Fitbit failed entirely in the regard of waterproofing. You can jump into the pool and go swimming with this, even if you don't need it to measure anything underwater (it doesn't have swimming features as far as I know). It can tell the time and control your phone for music without having to touch your phone, so that's perfect. Overall, there's a lot I could say that I'm probably leaving out but it's perfect if you're in the market for a device you never have to remove unless you plan to go diving. It's rated for 5ATM so look it up and see if it'll work for you but with that it's already better than most.

The garmin vivosmart is a great product. It does a wonderful job tracking activity, especially when the heart monitor is used. The battery life is really good too, only have to charge about once every ten days. A recommend for someone who is looking for an activity tracker with a few extras. Love being able to have my notifications there too!

The app could use a bit more work

Overall very satisfied with the battery life and all the features of the tracker - they work as advertised and do what they're supposed to. I'm not that paranoid about my health as to care about every inch of my mileage - the step and distance counter seem to be close enough - and the GOAL! animation is a nice touch when you reach your daily goal. Music controls work as expected when connected to bluetooth - not much to see there, Notifications work for texts and emails (I only get these in english so I can't speak for other languages showing up in boxes); heart rate monitor is somewhat uncomfortable (which is why I barely use it), but it works. As far as how waterproof this thing is - I don't take it off while washing hands, but I don't want to shorten its lifespan in a salt water pool. And as far as showering goes - I have no need for it in there. The app could be a bit more intuitive and the sleep stats could be more insightful - right now it just shows you light sleep, heavy sleep and the number of times you woke up. Hopefully this is fixed in a future update. Overall a great tracker, I'd give the app 3 stars and the tracker 5 stars, with the average being 4 stars.

1.good tool to keep track of activities especially in the water. Great for swimming. 2. I like the measage/meeting alert. Great feature and convenient. 3. Battery life is good; I can go full week with charging just once. 4. Sync is quirky; sometimes works sometimes not. 5. I use the display on option for raised hand, and it works well. 6. Alarm function and time sync cannot be used when there is no wifi, although my Bluetooth is on and connected with the phone. This is inconvenient. 7. Mobile app is not intuitively designed; not consistent with typical iOS interface. Overall, good product but needs a lot of improvement.

Thank you for your detailed review. We're happy to hear you're satisfied with the device, notifications and battery life, and that you're enjoying swimming with it. This is a feature many users aren't aware they can do.

To address some of the issues you've had, the alarm should work regardless of Wi-Fi connection. If you're a having trouble with the alarm, or the time remaining accurate, please visit http://j.mp/GRMNSupport, and contact us, so our tech support team can look into this, and help.

Software updates have been released for both the device, as well as the iOS, and Android apps. These updates strengthened bluetooth stability, which greatly improved syncing and reconnection. We will continue to monitor performance, and offer updates for our apps to improve the overall user experience and functionality.

We appreciate your valuable feedback. Thanks again. *CG Garmin

I did a lot of research before deciding to go with the Garmin vivosmart. I like that it is water resistant and can be worn at all times. I use it to track my daily steps and distance and use the heart rate monitor for my more intense workouts at the gym. I also am planning to get the bicycle attachment so that I can track my rides as well. this was a great purchase and worth the extra money to get the two year replacement plan so that I can have it worry free.

So far I love my Garmin.... I have only used the heart monitor one time, but I wear the wrist band each day. It accurately tracks my steps, my distance and my calories. I have not used it, but it is also possible to control my music at the same time. I love that it also tells me to MOVE if I have been static too long.

This has been a great purchase. Battery lasts a week. Waterproof -- can shower with it. Shows time, date, steps, calories and sends me as many things as I want from my iphone -- text messages (in full), alerts, Facebook messages, etc. There are more possibilities, but I don't want these with such urgency. I like the appearance -- looks like a solidarity bracelet. Can wear it with other jewelry -- even a watch. Step count has been accurate (comparing it to iphone 5S counts, etc.).

The Garmin - Vivosmart Activity Tracker was easy to setup and to use, great battery life, charges quickly, lots of useful features, notifications from iPhone, controls playing favorite tunes while working out from iPhone, reminds me to move from my desk, keep tracks of steps and when I meet my goals, tracks sleeping patterns and times, wish it could monitor my heart rate without having to use a chest strap, great fit on the wrist.

After returning the adidas fitsmart because it was far too complicated to use and would basically be good only per workout (not for an entire days worth if activity) we settled on this one. Much easier to use, wife likes it. She didn't need the HR feature of the adidas fitsmart (was a nice bonus) and this one will count ur steps for the entire day, not just a 4 hour workout period.

I really like the notifications on this band. I previously owned several Fitbit bands. I wanted to try something different that would be more durable. I like the fact that I can wear a heart rate monitor for my workouts and that it links with myfitnesspal app. Sometimes the bluetooth disconnects for no reason. Outside of that I'm happy with my purchase.

I have been wearing the Vivosmart for over a month. It not only helped me lose weight but also gave inside on my sleep patterns. I like the Vivosmart band but for me the heart monitor attachment was wasteful. It is not accurate. The arm band monitor itself is well worth the price. I would purchase it again without the heart monitor.

Very user-friendly and I find the horizontal screen easy to read/use. I do wish Garmin attached a better icon-guide but it was easy to figure out what some of the icons were online. Looks great on and is not a pain to wear 24/7. It did take some getting used to wearing at night but now it's fine. The Garmin app is simple but I like that it connects to myfitnesspal.

Fitness tracker is good with excellent battery life even after much activity (sometimes more than a week) - heart rate monitor takes some time to start (may be it requires some sweat/little perspiration) - the mobile app and computer apps are also good.

Nice Tracker with Heart Rate Monitor Ability

This is a nice activity tracking device but I think it is a bit less accurate for steps than the clip on the hip units (like the fitbit). This is even more significant for someone who moves their arms a lot.

I found the Garmin VivoSmart to be exceptional and bought one for my wife. It tracks the things we want to track such as steps, calories, heart rate, sleep, cycling, etc. Most people who see it are quite impressed, and several purchased the VivoSmart after seeing what a great activity tracker it is.
