However it stopped working after only 5 months. GE was extremely hard to deal with and it took a very long time to resolve this. They didn’t sound one bit surprised by the very short life of their product. I was given a certificate to replace it with the same model. It lasted 1 1/2 yrs. Fortunately I bought the Best Buy warranty. So beware!

I have a limited space so I had to stay with a similar external size. This unit seems to be the newer version of the the one it replaced. It is not as nice. Lighter, cheaper, louder and does not have some operating features the old one had. For instance, the power level can not be changed while the unit is running. Overall this unit works fine but I am a little dissapointed with it.

Lasted A Year and a Half

After removing food and closing the door, the microwave turned itself back on, but only the current clock time was showing. It would not shut off with the cancel button...only by opening the door. This happened numerous times and then the lights started flickering a lot. I decided it wasn't worth risking burning the house down if it turned itself on unattended. I read in other reviews of this same product that I am not the only one this happened to. Dangerous. Do not purchase.

On June 6th, it turned off about halfway through heating up my lunch. It was not the outlet (circuit breaker not flipped, and tested outlet with inductive voltage tool to confirm outlet was still functional). It just stopped working after exactly 3 months.
