My decision to buy this newer model of the GE microwave I previously owned was primary because this still appears to be one of the few microwaves with a sensor-based (rather than time-based) beverage button; a feature I use frequently. Unfortunately, the steam sensor doesn't seem to be as accurate as the older model. The first one I got tended to make my coffee/tea/water boil over and make a mess 80% of the time, so I returned it. The replacement is better - only boils over and makes a mess 20% of the time - which I decided I can live with. I like pretty much everything else about this microwave.

I purchased this model seven months ago. The past couple days I noticed a burning electronics smell coming from the side vent. This is after 1-2 minutes of use each time. GE has a ridiculous, convoluted process to get a warranty claim. As it stands, I had to email a pic of the microwave sticker and receipt although I registered the microwave immediately after I bought it. Next I wait for a letter to arrive in 5-7 days to attach my receipt for a replacement (and it must be another GE microwave) and wait 4-8 weeks for the check to cover the cost of my old one. My previous microwave was a Sharp Carousel II that lasted 27 years. Definitely miss it.

Just purchashed this microwave 3 weeks ago, to replace the GE we had for many, many years. Out of the box, we’ve been noticing an odd smell anytime it was used. Tonight, after warming up leftovers for 2 minutes, the entire house is now filled with the awful smell of burnt wiring, coming from the left side vent. A bad enough smell to open the doors and windows, even though it’s a very cold night. Out $140 bucks, and no microwave, and a drive to the city is a long ways off.

We had a GE microwave for about 15 years that was awesome. When it died, we replaced it with this model and it lasted about 7 years. We recently had to replace that one in January 2020 and decided to get the same one. This one smelled weird right away, like plastic burning. GE said it was common and would wear off, it was just a new product smell.... Now less then 3 months later it started shutting off and on by itself. The light flickers also. It still smells...I don't hold out hope that we will even be able to get it serviced since GE doesn't have any service guys in our area. We are supposed to be "Sheltering in Place" , now I have to go out to return this piece of junk and try and find something to replace it with. It won't be a GE !

This microwave worked great for a little over 1 yr and then had a burning smell, sound as if a small fan was running after I used a couple times and then died. The last microwave I had lasted over 10yrs ... will not buy GE again.

I bought a microwave from GE very slimilar to this model less than 2 years ago and it stopped working last month. currently the same model is not in this website. The GE microwave was my first brand new one and I am bummed about the poor quality. I used multiple used ones before and it lasted forever..very disappointed. I called the customer service 1900-435-2737 and their answering machine answers. no help.

The microwave stopped working less than three months from the date of purchase!! This is shockingly poor quality for an appliance and from a company like GE!

do not waste your money. Tried this microwave twice and both died after roughly a year

It worked fine for the first month. Then the door button started sticking. Last week began the burning or melting smell of plastic or rubber. not sure what's going on. Tonight it died.

Looked over the other comments and seen a shorter life span of mine so I gave 2 stars. It lasted 2 years but will never buy this product again or anything else. Guess they should stick to ultrasound machines instead.

I bought this microwave and after 11 months it produced a chemical plastic smell from the vents and inside when turned on. Since I had it for so long, I knew this wasn’t normal. Had it replaced with same model microwave and it happened again after 3 months. I couldn’t believe it. Called GE and they ended up buying back the microwave. I would not recommend this product.

If I could give it a ZERO, I would! First microwave lasted 3 months. Would shut off after 3 minutes of heating up the food. Took up to an hr to reset the microwave. Eventually it just stop heating up food. GE gave us a voucher to purchase another GE MICROWAVE and the same thing happened within 3 months. Keep in mind we are reheating food and liquids, no major cooking being done. Fortunately, we bought extra warranty from BB. They just gave us a gift card to purchase another brand. Stay away from GE!!

Great microwave until it stopped working 12 days after the one year warranty ended! Ge wouldn't do anything for us. We won't be purchasing ge products again.

Never used received damaged. No replacement available. Pretty disappointed.
