The inside is not very bright. I would not recommend this microwave.

installation was easy and straight forward, all parts needed to mount over the range were included. It cooks well and is SIGNIFICANTLY quieter compared to the old one it replaced. On low you almost can't hear it. The size is just right too, a balance of good capacity without hanging too low over the stove. My only complaint is it is very difficult to remove and replace the top grille to get at the air filter, but that isn't something you need to do often, especially if it vents outside vs. recirculating inside.

The buttons are a little hard to push and it collects fingerprints easily. Also looks a lot darker and shinier in person than online. Louder than my previous microwave. Still works just fine as a microwave, though.

Kind of like a tin can. It certainly microwaves what you put in it. But it is loud when it runs, and when the door is closed over to closes loudly. I'm guessing it is poorly insulated.

Buying a over the range microwave was the worst experience ever! Never will I buy a large appliance from them again. They came 4 times for this machine . Once they could not install and Once they didn't know it was an install the just wanted to drop it off. Nonetheless it did not happen.

I replaced a ten year old Spacemaker XL1800 (HDM1853WJ) with this and overall I’m very pleased. I wanted to share my thoughts.
Installation: First, make sure you turn the vent motor and install the charcoal filter (included) if it’s going to recirculate. This is laid out very clearly in the instructions and is simple to do.
One of the reasons I bought another GE was because I was hoping to be able to use the existing wall bracket and maybe the holes required in the cabinet above the microwave would also line up. Got lucky with the former, not the latter. It sat on the wall bracket OK, and although the holes pattern was close, I had to drill new holes.
Use: As another reviewer pointed out, it’s difficult to see if your food is boiling over. Cooking oatmeal poses a challenge! It’s not impossible to see, but harder than it was with my previous microwave. I also don’t like that it “forgets” you put food in it. What I mean is that if you put food in it, walk away for a few minutes, then come back and turn it on it tells you to put food in the microwave. All you have to do is open and close the door, but still a pain and different from the previous GE I owned. On the positive side, it does a fine job doing what it’s supposed to do. Plenty of power settings and cooking options. I also like that it has two levels (high and low) for both the surface light and the vent fan.

Replaced our GE microwave that quit working after 20 years. This one has all the same features and works as well as the old one. We like the looks and even though the control panel is not as vivid it is easy to see and use.

From the purchase of the Unit in the Store, to the Installation, everyone was extremely helpful and professional - very good experience. The microwave works very well, and I am very pleased.

Less than a year after purchasing it began to turn off, turn on sporadically, wouldn’t actually warm up anything. This microwave has been total junk. My parents bought the same one and had the same issues. Not worth it!

Selected this particular brand and model to replace a GE 1.6 Cu. Ft. microwave we purchased in 2007 as this one was close to the old one as far as size, function and control buttons placement. The old GE microwave was still functioning properly, it was just getting noisy as though something was finally wearing out. This new one mounted exactly the same as the old one so installation was easier than if we had purchased another brand. So far, we are totally satisfied with everything about its looks and operation and if we get 15 years of trouble-free service from this one like we did with the old GE we'll be very happy.

The old space maker microwave I had was installed in the 1980s! This one fits the space perfectly and is of course sleeker and has more quick touch type features. I love it especially for the price—great value.

Replaced basically the same model I had that lasted over 20 years. Nothing fancy, but works fine. Relatively easy to install. Do wish the underhood light wasn't halogen, gives good light but really gets hot and uses a lot more wattage than an LED bulb, plan to change that out myself. Other than that I expect this one will last just as long and work just as well. For the money I don't think you can do much better if you want something very modestly priced (~$200 on sale), functional, and reliable.
